If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Technical requests

Uncontroversial technical requests

The proper article title might be simply Alba (company) as seems to be the standard for other names that are used for various firms and brands and products, such as Merrill (company) or Amazon (company). ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 15:33, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not in this case because it's more complicated. It used to be a company until the 1980s. Then there was a new separate company taking the realms with the same name. And then more recently it was only a brand name and not a company at all. Alba (electronics) makes sense because it covers them all and is neutral. Contested technical requests

@Captaindory The way this is set up is established enwiki practice. See WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA. I have fixed the Wikidata so that the enwiki article links to the species articles on other wikis rather than the genus article. Bensci54 (talk) 14:22, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

After this move is completed, should the old title be redirected to Mayor of Greater Manchester? That is the current arrangement for London, as the non-existent "List of mayors of London" is currently a redirect to Mayor of London. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 17:47, 1 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Lord mayor is the current title, but the list includes the mayors from 1838-1893. The old title should not be redirected to Mayor of Greater Manchester, as Manchester is one of the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester. Manchester is the City of Manchester; London is not the City of London. Peter James (talk) 18:50, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Most lists linked from List of lord mayoralties and lord provostships in the United Kingdom are just "mayors" - Birmingham and Bradford and others - the exceptions are London (Mayor of London is not the same as Lord Mayor of London) and Stoke-on-Trent, which had both a lord mayor (formerly mayor) and an executive mayor for a few years. Other lists just use "mayor". Peter James (talk) 21:44, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Note that I'm not contesting the requested move in any way, just need to know how to clean up the resulting redirects. Not a Brit so I'm ignorant on thse city/mayor distinctions. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 15:20, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm contesting it because I think it needs discussion, unless there has been recent consensus for a similar move. The current title is consistent with other lists that include mayors and lord mayors where there is not a separate mayor. Peter James (talk) 12:29, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@162 etc. It looks like every parish article on this list follows the same format of "<title of parish>, New Brunswick". Due to WP:TITLECON, this should be opened as a multi-move RM. cyberdog958Talk 10:50, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Plaretyagain This one has been involved in multiple RMs in the past, so a new RM will be required. Bensci54 (talk) 14:14, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I will try make an RM move. Plaretyagain (talk) 20:48, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
