Does not meet WP:NFCC#3 or NFCC#8. Color-grading can be shown through an image and demonstrating the shaky cinematography is not a significant enough reason to justify its usage. That's in addition to it being far longer than it needs to be. The scene itself is not the subject of commentary within the article. :3 F4U (they/it) 02:01, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Freedom4U, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I was also recently thinking about this too, the level of need for that clip. I didn't even know what I thought the clip could add to the article when I uploaded it. I'll fully support for this clip to be removed, and I'll be looking for other possible material to replace it. It is not PD-simple and that should be updated. However, it is still public domain as it was published in the United States between 1928 and 1977, inclusive, without a copyright notice. :3 F4U (they/it) 16:25, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Can the process of buying and selling be called a publication? — Ирука13 22:15, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am using the word published here in the legal sense. It was "published" in that it was made available to the public in 1947. :3 F4U (they/it) 11:26, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It seemed to me that on Wikipedia, the word "publish" means making available to a wide range of people for a long time. — Ирука13 01:27, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - publication means a distribution to the general public which I would not expect of a sales contract for a building, so I do not think the publication date is 1947. Regardless, the image is not used so there is no reason to host it on the English Wikipedia. -- Whpq (talk) 20:33, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

File:Draw the Blood clip.ogv (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Armadillopteryx ( | contribs | uploads | upload log).

Does not meet WP:NFCC#8. The clip is not the subject of sourced commentary within the article and does not provide more benefit than an external link to the music video. :3 F4U (they/it) 16:12, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! This video was uploaded in conjunction with the pre-FAC discussion on the article talk page. WP:NFCC#8 does not require the work to be the subject of commentary, but rather to increase readers' understanding of the article topic. I detailed that in the rationale on the file page. Thanks, Armadillopteryx 16:27, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It states that inclusion is justified if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. To that end, the article does not provide enough sourced commentary on the specific clip to clearly demonstrate the relevance of the specific clip to the subject.
In addition to that, I don't see how the non-free media provides a greater understanding than what could be provided using an external media template. :3 F4U (they/it) 20:02, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The clip appears next to a sourced paragraph detailing how this video is the article subject's first directorial credit, summarizing the topics addressed by the song/video, and noting that the video includes examples of personal experiences the subject has had. Notably, the clip includes a re-enactment of police brutality the subject experienced, which is also sourced and described in the article. The work's public reception is also mentioned (and sourced) in the paragraph next to it. Armadillopteryx 04:12, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is the entirety of the commentary in the article on the video and the song:
The song...focuses on the danger of bystander inaction in the face of racism, and its video features the personal experiences of Davenport and those close to her...The video was included in Entertainment Weekly's "fabulous collection of the RuPaul's Drag Race queens' best music videos".
This is simply not enough to justify its inclusion. :3 F4U (they/it) 17:16, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This seems disingenuous, as there's a whole paragraph about the video. The full text says:
In February 2020, Davenport and Aja released "Draw the Blood", a collaborative single whose music video marked Davenport's first directorial credit. The song, which debuted at number 26 on iTunes, focuses on the danger of bystander inaction in the face of racism, and its video features the personal experiences of Davenport and those close to her. The title references a metaphor indicating that those who do not intervene when they witness injustice have blood on their hands. Aja and Davenport each penned portions of the track, and Kareem McJagger wrote the hook. The video was included in Entertainment Weekly's "fabulous collection of the RuPaul's Drag Race queens' best music videos".
This is further contextualized by a paragraph describing the incident of police brutality the subject experienced (depicted in the video clip) in the article's Activism section. Armadillopteryx 00:52, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The rest of the paragraph is not relevant because it does not have anything to do with the video or the music. It's just talking about who wrote what or how well it was rated—that isn't commentary. There does appear to be one more sentence covering the video in the Activism section, I apologize about that. But regardless, the fact that there are just three sentences, which only briefly cover what happens in the music video, demonstrates that the video does not currently meet WP:NFCC#8.
As well, this still doesn't negate my WP:NFCC#1 concern I have. Providing an external link to the video is a free alternative and is very much possible here. :3 F4U (they/it) 05:10, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - none of the text about the video requires the viewing of the video to understand. As such, the removal of the video does not detract from a reader's understanding of the article. Fails WP:NFCC#8. -- Whpq (talk) 20:36, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It was earlier suggested (see Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2023 May 25#File:Nottingham Forest F.C. logo.svg) this file be relicensed to {{PD-ineligible-USonly}} however one user thought the tree would make the logo be above c:COM:TOO US however there are examples listed at c:COM:TOO US that are at least as complex as this logo which makes me certain that it truly is below the TOO in the US. So I once again decide to nominate it for relicensing. Jonteemil (talk) 20:52, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I feel this is a borderline case. I'd say keep as non-free per the precautionary principle. Ixfd64 (talk) 22:50, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think that this logo is as simple or simpler than at least one of these four files: c:File:Best Western logo.svg, c:File:Los Angeles Football Club.svg, c:File:American Owned American Made Logo.jpg and c:File:Jamba logo.svg which have all been deemed uncopyrightable by US courts. • Retain as non-free - this is borderline to be sure and without an actual ruling we are going on our best guess. For me the tree is slightly more complex than the elements in the examples that are too simple for copyright. -- Whpq (talk) 20:39, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
