==Admin essay==
Thanks; I'm blushing. :-) I can't think of anything at the moment I'm dying to change, although I haven't done any serious vandal-fighting in a long while, and I think I might be harsher on advertisers and people who post libel/smear pieces... I really ought to dust that one off and revise it, but for now you are welcome to quote it.
As to your own essay, I agree with the sentiment: treat people like humans. (I'm not a stickler for "must have a defined speedy code", though most things I think ought to be speedy-deleted fall under one.) In general I like it and think it's far better to err or the side of being too considerate than too inconsiderate! And it did not make my eyes bleed, honest. (Also, it looks like your second RfA will probably go a lot better!) Thanks for the note and take care. Kat Walsh(spill your mind?)07:37, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
hey there
Been seeing you around again – especially your activity on MD's RfB... go you good thing, stick to your convictions :) Hope you've been well and the exams aren't stressing you out too much – I'd tell you they're not that bad, but I wouldn't have believed myself this time last year either. — riana_dzastawreak havoc-damage report 12:22, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
PS read your essay, it looks fine to me. It felt particularly relevant because I was doing a bit of RCP last night, or the night before, and going through the set of test templates with a fellow who was vandalising... some article or other. Anyway, I finally got tired of it and reported him to AIV. After about 5 minutes, I see a plaintive sort of message on the IP's userpage, something to the effect of 'we were just messing around on the school computer, we didn't realise it was vandalism, and it won't happen again'. I felt pretty bad and immediately left a {{welcomeip}} on the talkpage... and exactly a minute later, one of our newest admins came along and blocked him for 3 hours.
So where am I meant to draw the line? The IP is going around telling us that so-and-so is gay; the admin has been promoted not 2 days ago, I have supported him on his RfA and run into him numerous times on AfD. I forgot to think of the IP as a person, I guess, in my decision to not discourage a new administrator.
Heh, somehow I knew you'd've nicked the wicked little TOC :) No worries, I stole it from somewhere in the first place (of course). And that's some fine detective work there; that's the IP I was talking about.
Adam's good, though, and I can see how it would look for a busy admin. Hopefully he will take note of your very sensible message, which was expressed far better than I ever could :)
rofl! That reminds me of a terrible joke I once heard about a truck driver running into a pig, but I'll tell you that one later :p By the way, just reread your last message... sneaking? Cut me deep, man. Have a good night! — riana_dzastawreak havoc-damage report 14:16, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
AIV
My apologies-- I did miss that message on the userpage. I sort of remember that as I was issuing the block notice, I believe I had an edit conflict with the editor who added the {{welcomeip}} notice. I thought it was a nice thing to do, having such an outreaching attitude toward a vandal, but I also saw 8 or so warnings so I thought I'd administer a short block (having not seen the userpage I considered it simply another vandalism case) But in any event, I can't justify my actions completely and I'm sure I was a little trigger-happy, trying to clear the backlog at WP:AIV. But I certainly don't want you to think that I am carelessly exercising my new powers and not investigating anything-- One of the things you learn on Wikipedia is that you have to check everything. So, thanks for your note and your congratulations, and I'll be sure to be a bit more careful next time. AdamBiswanger114:18, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You
In regards to this[1]. I'm heading to an event in Concord tonight, i'll ask around to see who this Andrew Sylvia person is. To be honest, if he had to deal with people like this Freakofnurture person, I don't blame him for being cross -- like freak's user page says: he's a dick. --People Powered(hopefully soon I can do the four tilde thing again)
I removed the idiot comment, but I think I feel justified in my opinion that he should not be allowed to edit Wikipedia, he's a detriment to the project if this is the way he acts. However, if my opinion on that is not welcome in this instance, please feel free to remove it. I started volunteering for people like Carol Shea Porter to fight people like this guy. On the checkuser thing, if it helps at all, I use AOL for 99% of my edits. -- People Powered(will put the tildes in later)
Lol! Thanks for stickin' up for me, buddy. I'm a bit mortified, as I'm still willing to go out and bat for him, if only out of a sense of loyalty. riana_dzasta03:58, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers
As you know, the "About" subpage of my userpage is based on completely copied from your userpage. I'd just like to thank you for not getting bitchy about the copycat thing and letting me use the code - I've just won a Barnstar for my userpage, and since a main subpage is copied from you its all thanks to you!
Oh, of course, of course. How about the classic edit summary: "Congratulations, You've Created A New Vandal"? Maybe you can include my baffled reactions as well. That'll be a treat to read.
The most annoying thing about the whole affair is that it's stopped me from doing... whatever it is I normally do around here :p Which ain't really much, but you know. riana_dzasta11:37, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and thanks for the kind words regarding me being an admin - much appreciated :) To think that 3 users I respect so much would see me that way! I am awestruck and flattered. riana_dzasta12:01, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Greetings, Daveydweeb. The judges would like to announce that the winner for the Esperanza User Page Contest has been chosen. Congratulations to MacGyverMagic for winning the contest. The winning entry can be found here.
Listen, I did a page on the EPISODE Freaky Fred, not the character. I beg of you, please put this up again. I think its a very, very important article for fans of Courage the Cowardly Dog. I think it was a big mistake to remove that article. Please put it up again. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dr. Zalost (talk • contribs)
Thank you for participating in my recent RfA. Unfortunately consensus was not reached, and the nomination was not successful. However, I appreciate that you took the time to comment, and I did pay close attention to your thoughts, as I find it a valuable thing to understand how I am perceived by others in the Wikipedia community. Though the RfA was unsuccessful, I intend to continue contributing in a positive manner to Wikipedia, and if there is anything that I can do in the future to help further address your concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. --Elonka10:10, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, chappy! First of all, what on Earth are you doing here? :) Secondly, I checked out the second episode, and enjoyed it so much, I dl-ed the first ep, too and in high quality! Lordy. It was great overall, but I agree with Zero1328's comment in the feedback section. I think you guys need to think about who you're aiming the podcast at - is it just Wikipedians? If so, is it established Wikipedians, or people who want to learn more about the project? Or is it non-Wikipedians who want to know more about it? Put it this way: I didn't know who Jimbo was 'til about a month into editing :) And I'm sure I'm not the only one out there (although I am a little slower than average). I'll put this on the project talk page, but I just thought I'd let you know here, as well. Heard your sexy voice, too *swoon* :p Too bad about the bastardry, though, hope it works out better next time. Hope the exams are going well, etc, etc... Take care, riana_dzasta14:18, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey there! I listened to it, and I really enjoyed it. You guys just keep improving! I think the audience is a little more clearly defined now, and your range of topics was broader. Good work.
Thanks for the link to the article too, by the way, what a strange piece of work. :s
Hope your exams are going well! How many do you have left?
Hi, after going out this weekend and splashing out on a microphone/webcam, and setting up Skype on my work computer (wasn't sure before if I could do that), I am in better shape to contribute to your podcast. I notice that the offline releases are now proposed for issue #4. If you want me to participate in a conference call (or video conference?) I should be able to do that now, but I would want to test the connection with you first as I haven't had a chance to use it. If you're looking for other names besides the principal actors I mentioned here, some other people to consider from the English offline releases include:
User:Maurreen - on wikibreak, but she really got the project started, and the project is her main work when she's here
User:Titoxd Less involved recently, but he has been involved in the project for quite a long time.
Let me know if you want me or others to participate (I can email Maurreen if needed), and also can you give me the date and UTC time? Thanks, Walkerma04:23, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the prompt reply, I wanted to give you a list in case you had trouble getting people to contribute, and also I saw the "up to ten" mentioned on the page - maybe I got carried away! If you are limited to 4-5, IMHO the top priority would be to get someone from the Polish release such as User:Polimerek or User:Kpjas, as they also have a release coming out very soon. Cheers, Walkerma04:57, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll email Polimerek and find out. The Polish group were expecting to finish their article selection of ~250,000 this week, and go to press shortly afterwards. The English Version 0.5 is still 1-2 weeks away from finishing its selection of ~2000, but unlike the Poles we don't have the publisher lined up ready yet - but at least we can release it for download soon and make it available via PediaPress. And User:BozMo is releasing his next charity version (~5000 articles) in the next month or two, I think. Walkerma05:23, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Esperanza User Page Award
Congratulations, Daveydweeb, you have been nominated for the Esperanza User Page Contest! The judges have received the fifteen entries, and are ready to start judging. The judges will take a week to complete the judging process, and they will contact all the participants when the judging is done.
Not sure if this has been pointed out, but it looks like AfD screwed up. Just to start the ball rolling and institute a culture change, I'm trying to get all admins closing things at AfD to remember to check the page history of an article before deleting, so that drastic changes in the nature of a page are spotted, and also urging those voting at AfD to do the same. See the following for details:
Thank you for your support in my RfA, which passed with a final tally of (56/0/2). It was great to see so much kind support from such competent editors and administrators as commented on my RfA.
I know I have much reading to do before I'll feel comfortable enough to use some of the more powerful admin tools, so I'll get right to it.
As it's been a while since you signed up for admin coaching, I am just checking that you still wish to receive it. Leave a note on my talk page, and I'll assign you some of our free coaches. Let me know (on my talk page) if you have any questions. Cheers, HighwayGrammar Enforcer!08:09, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Deon555's RfA
Thank you for your support on my RFA, which closed successfully yesterday with a result of (18/16/8). I'd like to let you know that I won't be running for adminship again, until I am nominated, rather than nominating myself again. Thanks for your support, Deon. — Deon555talkReview22:44, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hiya Davey, Yes thanks for that.. I realised after I had already sent it (and subst'd it) Grr.. also If you look closely it says "successfully", although it was not :s.. Lots of errors. Thanks for the note, I might see my way to fixing them all manually when I come back from down the street :D Thanks for the support btw :D — Deon555talkReview10:48, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
...for your nod of support in my recent RfA. Its always good to get the backing of my antipodean friends, even if they did curse the world with the Wiggles (I have a six-month old, so they are now, unfortunately, a big part of my life). However, you did give the world silverchair and giant beer cans, so you guys are alright with me. Seriously, though, if you need any admin help or just a set of fresh, disinterested eyes to review an article, please do not hesitate to give me a holler. Cheers. youngamerican (ahoy hoy) 13:50, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Admin coaching - November 3 - New recruits
Your coach is Yanksox. Exactly what form the admin coaching takes is up to you and the coach to decide, but a general piece of advice I give is to set up a user subpage (for example User:EXAMPLE/Admin coaching) to keep coaching discussion together. That prevents things getting split up over two talk pages, which can get confusing! Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions. Cheers, HighwayGrammar Enforcer!17:02, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've created the admin coaching page here. It's in the user talk namespace, so that I'm alerted to changes and can save a little time looking through my obscenely long watchlist. Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 00:43, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
*almost*... yikes. Nah, he does a great job. Too bad I'm going on a break starting today and probably ending 23-Nov. I hope he doesn't decide to start up in that time. :s Hope you're doing well - I really shouldn't stick around here anymore... take care, and all the best with your exams... and happy birthday from me in advance! Cheers, riana_dzasta03:27, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
At Mock Duck you seem to have inappropriately removed notice that the original AfD discussion alluded to in your tag should be linked to. Please link to it, or remove the assertion that it exists from your tag. - Nunh-huh11:18, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The message I left on that page is no less valid than the tag you left there, and is no less a part of process because it doesn't have a "pretty" box. Since you now acknowledge that there is no AfD discussion, and that the circumstances under which the deletion occurred are not as described in your tag, it is your tag that needs revision or removal. - Nunh-huh11:28, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I gave you advice. You should take it. Don't place misleading tags on pages. The page in question appears to have been deleted out-of-process, and until some reasonable explanation of the reason for deletion is revealed, it's not speedy deletable.- Nunh-huh11:35, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've been perfectly civil, and it's not appropriate for you to suggest that I haven't. You've placed an inappropriate, misleading tag on an article that may or may not eventually be deleted, based on further elaboration by Cyde as to the reasons for deletion. You should remove it, and replace it with an AFD if you feel the article should be deleted. - Nunh-huh11:49, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
John Farnham, mad? Never... although apparently he turned down an offer to join Queen [citation needed]. I don't think I've ever been in a taxi without John Farnham playing in the background. Hmmm, that was random. riana_dzasta13:08, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
... obviously another Kellogs' Crunchy Nut person who shouldn't be editing so close to midnight. Bah, what a break this has been from editing, I've been here pretty much all day. Meh. riana_dzasta13:12, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
ROFL. Purity? Gotsta remember that one... nah, I think I lost that with the whole Karmafist/People Powered thing. Well, at least I'll have stuff to talk about in Q3 later on. :p riana_dzasta13:47, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That means... wait, let my tired brain work it out... partial borderline civility. Oi! I'm always as civil as the circumstances allow (I think... ) As for opposing me - that's fine... I'd rather you didn't let your high opinion of me cloud your judgement. riana_dzasta13:56, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Aye, I should get me into bed as well - I shall have a delightful day studying DNA transclusiontranslation tomorrow. Kill me... Take care, dude. riana_dzasta14:22, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
(assigned) I'd like to run for adminship (again) at some point in the next few months, but I'm eager to work on developing a proper approach toward the mop before requesting it. I do not wish to receive coaching until after November 7, since my final school exams will reduce my editing rate and make it a waste of time for all involved. If I reach the top of the line, I'd like to defer any coaching until after that date. Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 02:46, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Note: I recently requested adminship, but was unsuccessful. The concerns raised at that RfA, particularly related to my use of CSD tags, would ideally be an important part of any coaching I'd receive. Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 14:36, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you would explain what you were marking for speedy, perhaps I could explain what the problem was and how to avoid it in the future. Or to save us from sifting through your contribution list, you could leave links to the specific edits in which you placed speedy tags. The Transhumanist09:39, 1 November 2006 (UTC) --Please post further questions and replies on the Admin school's main page. Thank you.[reply]
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.
Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

I saw your article about article hoax on ./ and I think you might be inserested in these articles 13th_root and especially Alexis_Lemaire. The website quoted as reference http://www.13throot.com/ is registered to one Alexis_Lemaire. Furthermore the newspapers quoted (Times and Independant) source the website in their articles as their source. I don't know if it is all dodgy but I'm certain most of it is. JohnShep18:28, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed the comments that you put on your web site about the NPA personality theory issues. I'm actually somewhat flattered that I got quoted on it! I also noticed that you asked Psychonaut about the Good Article nomination for the article. I'm actually not sure if it still exists. I searched for it several times and did not find it. There was a peer review at Wikipedia:Peer review/NPA Personality Theory/archive1. There was also a nomination for Featured Article at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/NPA personality theory, which it failed badly. My attention was drawn to the article when I noticed that it was marked as a Featured Article. Since there are so few Featured Articles in psychology, I wanted to see what it was about. It was then that I noticed that User:D-Katana had marked the article as FA-quality and High-importance in spite of it having lost its FA nomination. That was clearly inappropriate, so I removed the assessment and started my discussion about the article's importance. My original intention wasn't to get it deleted, only to prevent it from gaining more credibility than it deserved, although in the end, I think it was definitely best that it was deleted. —Cswrye21:27, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I thought you might be very interested to see the talk page and history while it is temprorily undeleted to clear up some misunderstandings about the contents User:Zeraeph/NPA. I can also confirm every word Cswrye said above. Although we disagree on some issues I have found him to be, without exception a decent, honorable, objective editor. --Zeraeph23:17, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've received two coaching assignments instead of one from the Esperanza Admin coaching program, so inorder to accomodate both students, I've set up a Virtual classroom. And to make the classroom even more rewarding and fun, I've invited some of the most prolific and talented editors of Wikipedia to come and contribute their know how so we can all learn. Currently, we are all comparing the tools each of us makes use of in navigating and working on Wikipedia. So far, Interiot, Rich Farmbrough, and CBDunkerson have been kind enough to help get things started by sharing their experience. You are cordially invited to participate as a student, a coach, or both! The Transhumanist15:50, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Daveydweeb, thanks a lot for your support to my RFA. Its a very nice feeling to be supported by people who I have never interacted with before. Do let me know if I can be of any help at all -- Lost(talk)10:42, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What's life without a few embarrassments, eh? Don't worry, I think you handled it OK - hopefully others think so as well.
Speaking of embarrassments, I've never edited Wikipedia under the influence - that would be a little too sad, methinks. Even by my low standards. riana_dzasta12:30, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, yeah, looks like it. You're not the only one working on the editing, though, are you? (i.e. do you have other people you could blame it on?) :p riana_dzasta13:51, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP Weekly 5
Hi! Is the interview done "live" (i.e. you must interview everyone at the same time) or is it recorded? If it is the former then I will be more flexible (e.g. getting up at 5am local time as was requested last time!). If it is recorded to be made available at a later time, then I'd prefer Sunday 17:00 UTC - Monday 05:00 UTC, or Tuesday at 01:30-05:00, 15:00-16:00, 17:00-21:00 UTC. Will it be a one-on-one interview, or a group discussion?
Current/recent events in the world of offline Wikipedia content:
Last weekend the Polish Wikipedia finished reviewing 250,000 articles for their DVD release - that will be published very shortly. Contact User:Kpjas or User:Polimerek for more details.
Today (Nov 11) article reviewing for the English Wikipedia:Version 0.5 ends, and the team aims to have the collection ready for release by the end of the month.
November 14, User:Kelson is seeing a demo of software for offline releases, prepared by a software company in Paris he has been working with. If the demo is successful, it is likely that en will use this for Version 0.5, and fr will begin work on their equivalent of Version 0.5.
Hi. Just got a talk from you saying "thanks for my page creations/will be deleted". What pages were they? You've deleted perfectly valid content. Thedreamdied20:35, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Davey, in regards to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_coast_parkour im trying to create a page to show the work that has gone into the www.scpk.info forums and the work that is in fact coming out of it, scpk has held multiple shows of great importance and works very closely with Parkour.net and Worldwide jam! gimme some time to add more content and you will see for yourself Mike01:42, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Why, thanks for thanking me for the work on the transcript!
Hey Wang, I finished the transcript, there were a couple of words I couldn't catch though (sounded tech-y to me). Mind having a once-over? Cheers, riana_dzasta04:40, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's a bit annoying, granted... and you have to pause it every so often anyway. Still, if you don't particularly enjoy doing it, I'll do it for ya - I worked as a receptionist for 6 months before I finally went insane with boredom, so I'm used to dictation and stuff. riana_dzasta09:43, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hehe! I wouldn't particularly enjoy it, mind :p But you're doing the hardest job with the editing, so I'll take up the slack on this end. I was just thinking whether it would be appropriate to link relevant terms? The point of doing the transcript (I think) is to give people information, and I think links to things like Larry's blog, metaterms like inclusionism, deletionism etc, might be helpful for people browsing through. Watchufink? riana_dzasta10:27, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Great minds, and all that... I'll link what I can find, feel free to run through it later and tell me if I've linked incorrectly. *hopes CZ links won't be barred by the spamfilter or anything like that* riana_dzasta10:45, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, sure! I probably won't be able to do a transcript before the weekend, though. By the way, Methodical Culturalism seems to be methodischer kulturalismus - God bless Google Translator... riana_dzasta10:57, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
← Hahaha, that's funny. You should see the talkpage then, I tried running it through the translator, and it doesn't sound friendly at all... riana_dzasta11:36, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, awwww. OK, enough of this Wikithing, I have to get out there and revise electrochem *ugh*. Also, if I read the EA MfD page one more time, I might just say something incivil - there are some really good arguments on both sides, but oh-so-many crappy ones... Take care, you. Oh, and my little Presario struggled too much with downloading that MP3 last night, so I'll give it a listen when I'm not attempting to do so many things with my computer at once, k? riana_dzasta01:38, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
RFA Thanks
Thanks!
Thanks for your input on my (nearly recent) Request for adminship, which regretfully achived no consensus, with votes of 68/28/2. I am grateful for the input received, both positive and in opposition, and I'd like to thank you for your participation.
This guy is your personal B-day red panda! Congrats for being one year older and staying with Wikipedia this long. Much too many people create new accounts, do a few minor edits, and just quit. Happy B-day! —¡Randfan! {{subst:CURRENTTIME}}, {{subst:CURRENTDAY}} {{subst:CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{subst:CURRENTYEAR}} (UTC); so how does it feel? :)
Happy b-day! Hope it's a good one! Cheers!:) —Randfan!! {{subst:CURRENTTIME}}, {{subst:CURRENTDAY}} {{subst:CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{subst:CURRENTYEAR}} (UTC)
OMG! Happy birthday *does little birthday dance* Hope you're having an awesome time today, and make sure you party very hard tonight. Words of wisdom I received on my 18th:
Water helps with hangovers
Panadol helps with hangovers
Bananas help with hangovers
Vitamin B-12 helps with hangovers
Tomato juice helps with hangovers
Celery helps with hangovers
... you get an idea of the sort of people I hang out with. :D Enjoy your day, and make the most of it, 'cause it only happens once! riana_dzasta04:42, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
^________^ Thank you! I've had a great day so far (playing Paper Mario 2 until 3AM, going to work only to be told I wasn't needed and could go home -- in a good way -- and then wandering off to see Alexis instead, getting a blister in the process), and I'm going out tonight for dinner with family. It hasn't involved naked drunkenness, nor has it involved partying of any kind, but it's been very memorable and I'm very grateful for the birthday wishes. :) Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 06:55, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if you need to find the deletionist cabal, they've been active around anything with the words "miscellany for deletion" and "Esperanza" in them... tsk tsk, I'm biased. But some things are for the better. riana_dzasta12:02, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, but don't you know? They're sneaky buggers... one minute they're at MfD... the next they're at AfD... and everyone in a while, they rear their ugly heads at TfD and CfD... it gives me the heeby jeebies. Hey, when you get a spare minute, take a look at Portal:Chemistry. I've been giving it a facelift over the past week or so :) riana_dzasta12:07, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, green on grey is still better than what was there before, it was a kind of black on salmon. Rather boring. So you don't like green on grey, eh? What do you recommend? riana_dzasta12:16, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I know! I fully retract all the nice things I said about you in your review ;) Yeah, it's great for RC-patrollers. I love all the new edit summary changes they've made. Especially editor summary preview! I've been waiting for that for as long as I've been around here (Lord, I am SUCH a geek...) riana_dzasta12:29, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, probably - I think they go to the person who had the marbles to go ask the Mediawiki people to actually get that feature going ;) riana_dzasta12:35, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I probably won't get around to it tonight either, I want to do some archiving stuff on the portal :s Take care, and I'll finish the transcript by the end of this week. Night! riana_dzasta12:56, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks...never noticed that the db-repost wasn't for speedied things. However, given that the article again appears to be the same as it was the last two (!) times it was speedied as copyvio, can it be simply speedied again on those same merits? DMacks22:20, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the headsup. I don't think WP:SALTing it is the right thing, because it's okay with me if someone wants to try writing a non-copyvio version of it. (I'm not certain that it would meet our notability standards, but I'm not certain it wouldn't.) I'll be around off and on tonight, but I'll try to keep an eye on it. Cheers, FreplySpang22:57, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA:
Spawn Man would like to nominate you to be an administrator. Please visit Wikipedia:Requests for adminship to see what this process entails, and then contact Spawn Man to accept or decline the nomination. A page has been created for your nomination at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Daveydweeb. If you accept the nomination, you must formally state your acceptance and answer the questions on that page. Once you have answered the questions, you may post your nomination for discussion, or request that your nominator do so.
I thought you deserved adminship. Please accept my nomination, as I'm sure you will pass with flying colours. You're a good editor Davey, & you'll make a great admin... :) Spawn Man02:11, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No problemo matey potatey. I just wish I was good enough for people so that I succeeded my first RfA. In anycase, this month has been the best since I started, with nearing 1000 edits. Despite my bad fortune at the beginning I've turned it around. Maybe my good luck will rub off on you now! :) Spawn Man07:50, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey. Just to let you know I've posted a comment at /Editor review concerning User:Daveydweeb/Editor review and I was wondering if you could post a small reply to it. Cheers and regards, Anthonycfc (talk • email) 02:24, Friday 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Just wanted to give you a heads-up that I included a report on your Wikipedia Weekly comments about Citizendium in the CZ article. I tried to quote you accurately and fairly. I must caution that Larry Sanger has questioned my fairness on the article's talk page, so I tried to be as scrupulously even-handed as possible. Without public access to the pilot wiki, I have to rely on reports from editors like you who do have access. Thanks! Casey Abell17:08, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the kind reply, David. I have corroborated some of your comments - about the growing volume of CZ users and edits, for instance - with quotes from Larry in the article. I regularly read the CZ blog, mailing list and forums, and I'll look for any more published corroboration. And yes, I do consider you a reliable source, especially because your remarks about CZ seemed balanced and well-considered. Thanks again. Casey Abell23:39, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I had my doubts about accepting a nomination for a second RfA, but even I couldn't have predicted the stir it caused as it drifted to the ground in flames! Still, it was as educational as ever. Thanks for your input; it will be on my mind as I continue to edit Wikipedia, and perhaps I will have earned your support if another nomination comes around. KafzielTalk15:12, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, I am micless, so I will have to decline your offer. I hope all goes well. One thing to remember - regardless of who you have talking about both "sides", people only represent their own viewpoints, and not the viewpoints of an entire group. -- Natalya04:11, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize for the lateness of this reply, but unfortunately I will not be able to attend either, due to a variety of factors including quite a busy schedule IRL. However, I am honored that you would invite me, and under normal circumstances and perhaps a different topic I would definitely consider being on the show. I hope it goes great, and let me know if there's anything I can do for you in the future, podcast-wise or other-wise. Cheers, EWS23 (Leave me a message!) 16:12, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA
I am pleased to let you know that, consensus reached, you are now an Administrator. You should find the following forums useful:
Woo! Thank you all. My sister left a whole fridge full of Vodka Cruisers from her birthday party yesterday, so I'm off to get drunk and baleet some articles... :D Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 13:32, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What the hell, man? Why do you keep deleting my article? Cheap Shit is a prevalent concept in the United States. I don't know about the other colonies, but regardless, just because you aren't aware of something or it doesn't seem important to you doesn't make it "nonsense". Redreadersdigest22:13, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You've never give me any reason that "Cheap Shit" is "nonsense", you just made that claim without supporting it. Isn't wikipedia supposed to be about having enough free speech that you can create relevant articles about anything?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Redreadersdigest (talk • contribs)
Thanks for alerting me about the possible deletion. I have voiced my opinion and all I think needs to happen is more information and it can be a solid article. Fortyniners999901:13, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh man, I don't believe I missed your RfA!!! Well, here's my support, all the same:
Strong Support Davey is a fantastic editor, whom I have lots of faith in, and I believe will do great work with the tools. Thε HaloΘ
Good evening (GMT); I am currently going on a wikibreak for health reasons and as such I have been forced to neglect my adopted user, Db1944. Although for the duration of my wikibreak David will be finding a co-adopter to guide him in my absence, I have prior dealings with you and I trust you as a user. Therefore, I would like to ask you not to co-adopt User:Db1944 but to simply provide a helping hand in the absence of myself. If you choose to decline, I would have no problem. However if you wish to assist David during my wikibreak it would be very much appreciated.
Heya! Anthony asked me to fill in a little for him while he's away, and I'm happy to help out. I'm not an especially active editor, but if you have any questions please feel free to leave them at my talkpage, or email me using the link on my userpage. :) Cheerio! Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 20:45, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, that’s very kind of you. I’m currently working on several projects and so fat they’ve been going smoothly, but if I’d need some information it’s nice to know you’re available. Good day (as Anthony says – GMT+2) Db194405:35, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I’m a fairly independent guy, so I do most of my edits on my own. Sometimes I get stuck (mainly on technical stuff or Wikipedian policies) and then I ask Anthony. He started up a talk page especially assigned for our discussions – here. I also asked him to review an article I wrote, but unfortunately he didn’t get around to it. I’m very low maintenance… :) Db194414:15, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
From Anthony cfc - hope you enjoy the Christmas holidays and have a relaxing break! Tis the season to be jolly! - cheers and regards, Anthonycfc(talk • email) 19:47, Friday December 222006 (UTC)
For your participation in my two Editor Reviews (1 & 2), I award you this (long overdue) cool-looking barnstar. Cheers a lot! Anthonycfc 11:51 28/12/06 (UTC)
Good evening (GMT time); you may remember (on second thoughts probably not :) back when I first joined Wikipedia (Feb06) that you where one of the first to welcome me. Since then, I have valued your opinion greatly and therefore I would like to take this opportunity to ask your completely honest opinion: do you think I am ready for adminship?
I would appreciate honesty a million times more than just saying yes, so please do take time to think about it. Your opinion is appreciated.
I have decided to refuse Adminship at this time, pending my participation in the Admin Coaching program. Thanks for your help anyway! Cheers and regards, Anthonycfc13:43, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Good afternoon (GMT time); I took the liberty of removing the Esperanza userbox from User:Daveydweeb/userboxen - it was no longer a userbox but a string of red text.
This is because all pages and templates assossiated with Esperanza are being deleted per Esperanza's MfD nomination, which finished with the community's concensus being delete.
In summary: Esperanza has been deleted, and so has all its userboxes.
Me? Not really. Its structure was, frankly, a joke -- the only way I'd be happy to see EA return would be after a [i]massive[/i] overhaul that decentralised its leadership and cut all of the bureaucracy from its previous incarnation. As far as I can see, this is as close as we'll get. Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 21:41, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Administratorship
Hope you enjoyed the coast; thanks for your concern over my adminship - however, I have postponed my RfA pending my participation in the Admin Coaching program. I'm not desperate for adminship - it would just save all those times I've turned up at AIV requesting such-and-such be blocked. Anyway, thanks for your help!
By the way, check out my talk page at the bottom for a really smart (if I do say so myself :) answer regarding "do you want to see Esperanza return" question :) I'll leave it a surprise.
Good evening (GMT time); take a look at the new and improved Wikipedia:Welcoming Committee page - I've completely revamed it! I'd appreciate any feedback you might have concerning how it could be improved - just drop it at my talk page.
I am leaving the project, in favour of a more worthwhile cause; may I take this opportunity to thank you for your assistance over the past 11 months. It has been an honour conversing with you, and I wish you all the best.
I would be honoured if you gave me a visit at my simple talk page; otherwise, I leave you now, until my eventual return.
Hi, and congrats on your promotion! Per this discussion, I'm dropping a friendly note to some of the recently-promoted admins requesting help with speedy deletions. I am not an administrator, so if you don't feel comfortable diving into deletions - or if you need more info - please don't come to me, but I'm sure that Cyde Weys would be happy to guide you if you want to help. Any help is great, but I'm sure that Cyde and others would deeply appreciate it if you could put the page on your watchlist and do a bit of work there on a regular basis? Maybe weekly? Thanks in advance! Oh and if you're already working away on CSD please disregard this message; it's not meant as a slight against any hard work you're already doing. Cheers! Oh-ho, no jokes about banned users, I appear to be learning my lesson on that one... :) *sigh* As for the Sanger situation - wow. I haven't been contributing to CZ, but I've been keeping up with the mailing list, and for a project that's less than a year old, they sure seem to do a lot of navel-gazing. Bah, stay here, people are far more reasonable. riana_dzasta03:39, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, that sucks! I have a friend who has 2 classes right after each other which are on opposite sides of the city... dodgy timetables. I'm probably going to start enrolment today/tomorrow, but I have to go to uni first, seeing as I can't seem to find my major topics on my options list. Hmmmm. Anyway, I'm off to watch Scrubs reruns :) Take care! riana_dzasta05:13, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I finally got around to doing my uni enrolments today, and guess what - Tuesdays and Thursdays free, Mondays free after 11, Wednesdays free after 1! Fridays - dodgy, but I can cope ;) Hope you're doin' good. Take care, riana_dzasta13:38, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Activity?
Good morning (GMT time); you've been sort of inactive lately - is everything okay? I know...rich coming from me - Mr. Wikibreak :) but seriously, hope you're well.
More images were added but were removed from the Mass Effect article because of rm unnecessary fair use images. I believe that the images should stay there as they add to the article.
Hi - I made changes to the DRM intro in good faith but they were reverted by someone else twice. I put the suggested intro on the DRM talk page under the cleanup taskforce heading. Just trying to tighten up the words. Also E-DRM seems like cruft in the lead paragraphs - suggest moving it. Please review & post feedback. thanks. 71.232.58.19522:10, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll take a tape recorder along :) Don't know how talkative any of us will be, though, it's at 7:30AM! We'll probably talk about Wikimania 08, Wikimedia Australia, that sort of thing. Take care, and maybe start wearing safety glasses to work, – Rianaऋ11:45, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thanks for the question. The music for episode 19 is "Daydream", a demonstration song packaged with Apple's Garageband, the editing software we use to create the podcast. Apple actively encourages the use of the loops and tracks included with the software in users' productions, and (as far as I can tell) asserts no ownership over them. -- Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 02:58, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the response, However given the climate around the use of non self-created sound recordings at the moment, you would do well to get an "explict" license directly from Apple asserting what you've stated above, and that they have no objection to the 'free' use of the tracks.
Although not strictly needed, I would make the recommendation to give music credits and "a used
under <blah> terms" for any future music clips you use, or write your own :-)
Have my prayers been answered and the editor formely known as Randy Wang is back to stay?? It's been so long, dear, how are you? I've missed you so much! Hope you have a beautiful weekend, and please, drop me a line any time. Love! :) Phaedriel - 14:56, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Best of luck!
As you go for that exam, I pray that success would be your second name.
You worked so hard for it, so you deserve the greatest... And that's what you'll get!
Best of luck, dear Dave!
Love,
Hey there, as you may already have gathered from the theme, I am currently on a headhunt of sort! I found you through User:Phaedriel/Soundtrack of Wikipedians, and couldn't help noticing that from your taste in music and from a few of your contributions, you appear to be a pretty strong editor with an interest in electronic music. I was therefore wondering whether you might be interested in joining WikiProject Electronic Music, to which I'm sure you would be a great asset, and which is in need of a few more active editors and a bit of revival! If you're interested then please go ahead and add your name to the participants list, and if not, keep up the good work, and I shall see you around! Have a nice day, - Zeibura S. Userpage repair
Hey, as you seem to be a very experienced editor with an awesome userpage, I was just wondering if you could help me with a small problem. I have just finished designing User:Tewfik and think it's the best thing I've ever designed on here, but still had a small request to fulfill. The show/hide boxes on the page are, by default, closed. The user I designed if for was wondering whether I may be able to make them open by default. I was hoping you couldf help me here, even if it was by saying there was nothing more to do. Thanks, †Ðanieltiger45†Talk to meas13:03, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Davey,
I was directed to you by Danieltiger45, who was fixing up my userpage. I was hoping that you might be able to make the cells expand by default, and only collapse on request, as well as perhaps separating the babel and FA/GA/DYK boxes into two distinct columns. If you have any other suggestions for improvement, I'd love to hear. Cheers, TewfikTalk06:50, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Davey,
I'd love if you could take a look. Essentially, I would like if cells would be initially expanded, as well as perhaps seeing if you cant make the boxes inside them a bit ordered (the UBXs and such). Many thanks, TewfikTalk23:42, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for uploading Image:Cheetah3dlogo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Openforbusiness2.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Openforbusiness2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot13:39, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This may be somewhat foggy in your mind - but I wondered if you could fill me in on the Slashdot attention surrounding the furor of the NPA article which you blogged about late last year? Since that time myself, and other proponents have developed this theory and proliferated it somewhat with a website now located at [npatheory.com] - basically it is surprising that this Slashdot attention was overlooked. So if any sentiment is there on Slashdot, then some insight as to public receptivity could be gained. If the story was more about the...somewhat oligarchic situation which I think you will agree stands to this day here on Wikipedia then please disregard this message. As a reminder do view this page. Thanks. -- D-Katana04:22, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A tag has been placed on Template:AfD in 4 steps requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article BitBoys Oy, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of BitBoys Oy.
