Working in two characters

Lately, I've been thinking if I could nominate Ryo Sakazaki and Killua Zoldyck but before that I put them under request to be copyedited. I'm concerned if certain parts of Ryo's reception are needed considering it was nearly deleted but it survived its ADF. Besides the prose, I'm confused with what parts of the reception are worth keeping considering the length of it. Anyway, I know you are on a break but just wanted you to hear my doubts about it. For Killua, I'm not that concerned since most sources are analysis of his appearances. Cheers. Tintor2 (talk) 22:49, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Tintor2: Thank you for the message. Sorry, but I will not have the time right now to adequately look through the Ryo article. I do not know anything about either character or their related video games so I am uncertain if I would be the best person to ask anyway. I've been busy with off-Wiki stuff so I have been restricting my time on here to just my own personal projects. I do not see myself doing any reviewing and such for a while to be honest. Apologies again. Best of luck with both articles! Aoba47 (talk) 05:31, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

FAC comments

Hey Aoba, how are you doing? Sorry for reaching out to you out of the blue, but I wonder if you could look into my current FAC -- Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Forever & Always/archive1, and provide some comments for it? Many thanks in advance! Ippantekina (talk) 01:56, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Ippantekina: Thank you for the message. I am sorry, but unfortunately, I will not be able to do a review for your FAC. I am reserving my time on here for my own projects as I have a lot going on off-Wiki. For that reason, I am on a bit of a wikibreak, at least in terms of reviewing. I do not see myself doing a review for a while to be perfectly honest, as I would not have the time to do one justice. Apologies again. Best of luck with the FAC! In appreciation

The Reviewers Award The Reviewers Award
By the authority vested in me by myself it gives me great pleasure to present you with this award in recognition of the thorough, detailed and actionable reviews you have carried out at FAC. This work is very much appreciated. Gog the Mild (talk) 17:48, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Gog the Mild: Thank you for the award and for the kind words. I always enjoy being able to help out editors and really read through their work thoroughly and carefully. I think that I could still improve a lot as a reviewer, but I am grateful to the editors who set such a great example for someone like to follow. I hope you are having an excellent end to your week and start to your weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 23:10, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's very kind of you. I am good thanks. Looking forward to a few days winter walking in Scotland next week - see the picture on my home page. I hope that things are as good with you. Given the number and quality of reviews you have done you are an editor whom others use as a model - including your praiseworthy belief that there is always room for improvement. Gog the Mild (talk) 23:33, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the kind words. That really does mean a lot to me. I hope that you are able to enjoy some winter walking soon. The picture on your user page is truly awesome. Aoba47 (talk) 15:34, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Checking in...

Hello! Belated Happy New Year (and apologies if we've already spoken before today—then this greeting might seem a bit silly). I just wanted to check in and see how you've been and how 2025 is treating you so far. I want you to know that, even though we might not speak often, your work continues to inspire me in my own editing. I often refer to your articles, especially those on songs and fictional characters, as examples. I'm looking forward to seeing any future projects you have coming, whether soon or down the road :-) Changedforbetter (talk) 16:20, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Changedforbetter: Hello again. Thank you for the kind words. No need to apologize as I am always happy to hear from you. I have always enjoyed our conversations. I hope that you had a happy new year and that 2025 is going well for you. Your message means a lot to me. I have put a lot of time and work into my projects on Wikipedia so I greatly appreciate everything that you have said. I have only positive things to say about your editing, and you inspire me as well. I think that at its best, Wikipedia can be a wonderful community to meet people and to be inspired.
I am somewhat on a wikibreak at the moment, but more so from reviewing. I am currently working on the Satsu (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) article for a possible FAC in the future. But, I am taking my time with it, especially as I will be going through a decent amount of scholarly articles. While I enjoy that process a lot, I find that it does take time. Lately, I have been feeling inspired to go back to fictional character articles. Those have always been my favorite Wikipedia articles, both as a reader and as an editor. I am looking forward to any projects you have for the future. Do you have anything in mind? Again, feel free to message me anytime. I have certainly left you a lot of messages on your talk page lol. @Aoba47 It's lovely to hear from you, and I’m glad you’re doing well. Thank you for the kind words about my articles — I really appreciate it. I’m also glad to hear you’re taking a break to focus on other things. As always, the work you’ve done on Satsu (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is fantastic, and I’m excited to see where a potential FA nomination goes.
I wouldn’t quite say I’m on a wiki break, but after the whirlwind of having four of my GA nominations reviewed and promoted within a span of about four weeks earlier this year (which was thrilling but exhausting), I’ve decided to tackle something I’ve been putting off for a while: revisiting some of my older GAs to polish and refine them. Many of these are Disney character articles, which often attract well-meaning but fan-crufty edits and quickly become bloated and unfocused. Recently, I’ve massively overhauled the Kim Possible (character), Simba, Belle (Disney song), and I Won’t Say (I’m in Love) articles. A particular focus of mine has been trimming down the overstuffed "Appearances" sections, where editors tend to list every single appearance a Disney character makes, including lengthy plot summaries that have little relevance to the character’s core significance.
I'm especially proud of my Mufasa article, which achieved GA status in January. It turned out to be a much bigger project than I had anticipated (especially for a supporting character), but I’m really pleased with how it came together. As for new projects, I don’t have anything immediate lined up, but with the success of the Wicked movie and renewed interest in the stage show, I’ve been considering pushing some of their song articles to GA status – or perhaps creating an article focused entirely on the Ashman-Menken songwriting partnership. We'll see where it goes. Changedforbetter (talk) 20:42, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Changedforbetter: Thank you. I am excited to work on Satsu (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), which is always a good sign. I think that I have gotten better about managing my time on here. I remember spending a lot of time editing on Wikipedia in a single day or a single sitting, so I am proud of myself for finding a better balance, at least for me.
It can be a surreal experience when revisiting an older GA or an older project in general. I find that I can psych myself and feel a bit too intimidated by the process. One of these days, I should revisit some of my older FAs for a similar purpose, but I have been putting that off for a while as well lol. Congratulations again on all of your work with the Disney articles. I am still so impressed by the Belle's ball gown article. I can understand how these bigger and more popular articles would attract some less-than-helpful additions over time, particularly as Disney characters are used so frequently.
You have done a wonderful job with the Mufasa article. You should be proud of it. Although Mufasa is a supporting character, he has made a very large impact. I would love to see you work on Wicked articles, but only if you want to of course. It is one of favorite musicals, but I have actually still not seen the movie. I was surprised that people online say the second act is weaker, as I actually prefer the songs from that portion. Ashman-Menken have made some truly iconic music, and it would be nice to see more articles about partnerships like that in general. That being said, I have run into a lot of false starts so I get what you mean. I have just been taking it one project at a time lately. Best of luck with whatever you end up doing in the future!
