Where I have Lived
- originally from South Georgia
- moved to North Carolina when I was a young child
- lived in North Carolina for about 25 years total, but not continuously
- also lived in Alabama, Florida, Illinois, California, Connecticut, and Tennessee
- only member of my family to ever live this far north, or in Maine. In fact, most of the rest of my family lives in the South.
Things I Enjoy
- political debate
- reading most anything; periodicals, novels, and poems
- drawing and painting on all sorts of mediums
- creating custom greeting cards for family members
- listening to music and playing my piano
Musical History
- my mother had a natural talent for playing the piano and played by ear, eventually learned to read music
- my favorite cousin started teaching me to play the piano before age 5
- have worked as a musician, both in a band and free-lance
Piano
- began taking piano lessons when I was 6 years old
- took piano lessons continually through my senior year in high school, for a total of 12 years
Other Instruments
- began learning other instruments (trombone, baritone, and tuba) during my pre-high school years
- played trombone first, then progressed to larger horns
Genre of Music Played
- most was classical or Gospel Music
- learned many Pop Hits of the 70's
- always played piano every year around Christmas time
- playing all the old favorites, like Silent Night and Hark the Herald Angels Sing
- mixed in a few newer ones like White Christmas and Frosty the Snowman
Genres of Music Enjoyed
The Joy of My Life
- I have one child; a 25 year old son
- I am very proud of him
- He obtained his Masters Degree in Food Science from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln
- He married in the summer of 2009
- His lovely wife is a Registered Nurse (I think they make a wonderful couple, but perhaps I am a bit biased)
- I am really looking forward to the day when I have grandchildren, but I am in no rush
Goals
- a near lifelong desire to become a Legal Services Attorney, assisting the less fortunate people in our society with the complex legal issues they might face
- continue my work to better the lives of others, here in Aroostook County, Maine through volunteerism
