Fair use rationale for Image:Steven R. McQueen, Steve McQueen's grandson.jpg

Image:Steven R. McQueen, Steve McQueen's grandson.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

R?

So if Chadwick is his middle name, where does the "R" come from? P. D. Cook Talk to me! 02:19, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since most actors don't use their middle names, his stage name would have been "Steven McQueen", a tad too similar to "Steve McQueen". That's probably why he added a middle initial. As for why that initial is "R" instead of "C" - I've heard that the reason was to honor his step-father ("Robitaille"), who raised him. "Chadwick" is his father's birth name. File:Steven R. Mcqueen.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

An image used in this article, File:Steven R. Mcqueen.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Uncited information about Steven's spouse

A couple of days ago, an IP user 1.158.209.189 added Rebecca Kay as Steven's spouse without citation, I have requested a source to be added. The user removed my citation request and when I subsequently removed the uncited information, the IP user re-add the same information without citation. Obviously, if this information is genuine, it should be included, however, if there is no reliable source to that information, it must be removed immediately. I am inviting the IP user 1.158.209.189 to come to discuss why this information is notable without citation. Aviator006 (talk) 15:53, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

have tried to add the viable information but am unable can you provide further instructions please

In your own talk page, there are instructions on how to provide citation. Unfortunately, uncited information (e.g. information with no original source) cannot be included in Wikipedia. Aviator006 (talk) 20:09, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot see anything but I am trying to look into it now.. they are not married but dating I will try fix this

Please DO NOT re-add the information after I have deleted it. When you have a reliable source for the information, then you can re-add the information together with the citation to ensure it will not removed again. Aviator006 (talk) 20:24, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

how do I add the citation.

Please read Help:Referencing_for_beginners and follow its instruction and please DO NOT re-add uncited information again until you know how to cite. Aviator006 (talk) 20:32, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Career-ending" injury?

If McQueen suffered a career-ending injury on the set of Chicago Fire in 2016, how was he still working in subsequent projects up to 2020? Perhaps the wording could be changed to "significant injury" or actually specify the nature of said injury. 14.2.7.181 (talk) 00:19, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It was the fictional character that he played who was badly injured, not the real world actor. Cullen328 (talk) 00:24, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I added a few words to clarify that. Cullen328 (talk) 00:29, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Cullen328 Thank you for that clarification - definitely makes more sense now! 14.2.7.181 (talk) 20:52, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@DaniloDaysOfOurLives Hello there, I have updated the article from all your comments below. Thank you. Aviator006 (talk) 08:14, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! I am going to start this review :) The article looks good so far!

I have noticed a couple of issues though and I wanted to address them before doing a full review.

1.) This source [1] has a 52% plagiarism score on Earwig - can this be fixed?

I've added a second source [2] to the article. Aviator006 (talk) 15:30, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That is great, however, the score for the source I gave is still a 52% similarity - [3] - which means that the wording of the information is more than double of the same as the source. This can be fixed by cutting/paraphrasing quotes and changing the wording of non-quotes. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 17:21, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see what you mean. The offending paragragh is under Template:Blockquote. Aviator006 (talk) 01:57, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So it does not continue violating plagiarism guidelines, I would recommend condensing "As a kid growing up in Detroit I longed to be a Superhero. Later on I started watching movies my grandpa (Steve McQueen) did, and I saw what an impact they made on the world. That's when I said, "Hey, I want to do that too." , and then the rest can be condensed in your would words and go into the "personal life" section. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 02:00, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed what is not relevant from this quotation, and I also removed the citation from a blog site.Aviator006 (talk) 13:52, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

2.) Several of the sections in the filmography and awards tables are unsourced.

I have managed to source all, except one short film from 2018, I found screenshots from the film [4] from IMDB, but I know IMDB cannot be considered as a reliable source. Aviator006 (talk) 15:05, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

3.) Is there no post 2020 information, or any sources saying that he has been inactive/retired?

Unfortunately, there are no new information since 2020, even for the inactivity/retirement, so when another user updated the article to "2020", I did not dispute this information. Aviator006 (talk) 15:30, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's okay no worries :) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 17:19, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

4.) Some of the sources are blogs - can you explain why they are reliable? (I am not saying that I think they aren't, I just wanted to see why they should be considered reliable).

There were a couple of sources from blogs, one I have removed as mentioned above. The other talks about the character he played in the show, which I believe give the article a bit more depth on the subject.Aviator006 (talk) 13:52, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

5.) I would merge the "Personal life" and "Philanthropy" sections together.

I have made the "Philanthropy" section a sub-section of "Personal Life" section. Aviator006 (talk) 15:30, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

6.) Can you change the "(b.)"s to "(born)" (or just remove them) in the early life section?

Updated as suggested. Aviator006 (talk) 15:30, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Once these are addressed I will do a more thorough review :) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 07:23, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there, let me work on the above bit by bit, and I will update this page as I update the article. Thank you for your review in advance. Aviator006 (talk) 15:30, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thank you so much for your hard work! The article looks even better and the earwig copyright violation has now been fixed :) I have the following comments so far.

1.) "He subsequently guest-starred on a number of other CBS television series including Numb3rs, Without a Trace and CSI: Miami" - This is unsourced.

Citation reference added. Aviator006 (talk) 06:49, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

2.) ""From there, my passion for it slowly unfolded. I went to a couple of classes and I grew to love it." " - As this is a quote, it needs a ref right at the end.

The 3 citations at the end of the paragraph were used to write the entire paragraph, however, added a citation right after the quote as suggested. Aviator006 (talk) 07:08, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

3.) "whether it was hard being mean in the film" - Can you rephrase this to make it sound more formal?

Sentence rephrased as suggested. Aviator006 (talk) 14:00, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

4.) I would recommend adding the blockquote as a quote in a paragraph or a boxed quote as it is quite small.

Quote is now inline quote within the paragraph. Aviator006 (talk) 14:00, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I will then take a look at the sources and see if they are okay and see if there any other issues/fixes. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 17:40, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@DaniloDaysOfOurLives Those 4 feedbacks have been incorporated. Thank you. Aviator006 (talk) 14:00, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
