Article Updates

Hi, I'd like to suggest the following updates to the information and sourcing on the John Phelan page.

  • Please add to the Education section that Phelan earned a general course degree in economics and international relations from the London School of Economics in 1985.[1]
  • Please add to the Career section that Phelan worked as a financial analyst for Goldman Sachs, was Vice President at the Equity Group, Western Region Acquisitions head for Zell-Merrill Lynch Real Estate Opportunity Funds, and Principal at the investment firm, ESL Partners.[2]
  • Please also split the last 2 paragraphs of the Career section beginning with, "In 2000, Phelan met his future wife, Amy..." and ending with "Cory Gardner" into a separate Personal life section.
  • Please create a Philanthropy section with the following information:
Phelan is on the board of two US military non-profit organizations: Spirit of America and the Third Option Foundation, which supports the families of the CIA Special Activities Center.[3] He and his wife are extensive art collectors. Phelan serves on the board of the Whitney Museum[4] and is Chairman of the Aspen Art Museum, where he has endowed free admission since 2009. From 2006-2019, the Phelans hosted WineCrush, an annual wine tasting fundraising event for the Aspen Art Museum's summer ArtCrush gala.[5] Phelan serves on the Harvard Business School Board of Dean Advisors, the Investment Committee for the SMU Endowment, and the LSE's North American Advisory Board.[6] In 2021, Phelan and his wife gave a $10 million endowment to the LSE's US Centre.[7] Phelan is also on the board of directors of the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida.
