Article reviewer comment
I think there needs to be a bit at the start and/or in the title that acknowledges the US centric view of the article. I don't think this article knows if cultural competence was used in Slovak medicine in the 18th century and it needs some modesty to allow for that possibility. OK? - Yes, well the ultimate goal for this article is to make it less US-centric, but I definitely agree with what you're saying. I'll look into editing something about its bias in the intro for now. Thanks, static shakedown ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ 12:37, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
Additional sections/edits contributed
This article has a very thorough foundation! The contributions and edits that I included in the article are as follows:
Major:
- Bulleted list item I added 4 subsections under the definition of cultural competence. I felt that the different frameworks of cultural competence and the corresponding research could be expanded upon to reflect how it's seen in practice.
- I added a subsection under the language barriers to cultural competence in order to delve deeper into the varying results of interpreter use found in different studies. I also removed the two sentences that were in the main heading to better incorporate the new subsection and add to the flow of the new addition.
- I added a subsection under the cultural barriers to describe the issue of the lack of diversity in the medical workforce and its effect for minorities in their medical visits.
Minor:
- Rewrote the first sentence of the definition section because it was completely taken from another source.
- Added a citation in one of the sections under the language header
