English: November 29, 1863: the Assault on Fort Sanders. Civil War Lithograph by Kurz and Allison, restored by Adam Cuerden.


This is a retouched picture, which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: This was just a fun restoration. It wasn't that long, but it had some interesting aspects, and I think the result came out particularly well. It was mainly just a careful cleanup, a colour adjustment, and lots of little tweaks everywhere to remove a century and a bit of smudging and damage.

It helped that it was a very well-drawn artwork. Kurz and Allison aren't my favourite illustrators of the American Civil War - that's Thure de Thulstrup - but they're still quite good. And I do love American Civil War stuff..
