Overview

ProVisual Engine is an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered image processing system developed by Samsung Electronics to enhance photography and videography capabilities in its Galaxy series smartphones.[1] Introduced in 2024, it is designed to improve image quality through AI-based processing, particularly in areas such as zoom, low-light photography, and post-capture editing.[2]

Features

Quad Tele System

The ProVisual Engine supports Samsung’s Quad Tele System, which provides optical-quality zoom at multiple levels, including 2x, 3x, 5x, and 10x.[3] This system enhances zoom functionality by optimizing image quality at various focal lengths.

Nightography Enhancements

Samsung has incorporated AI-powered Nightography technology within the ProVisual Engine to improve low-light photography. The system utilizes larger image sensors and advanced AI Image Signal Processing (ISP) to reduce noise and enhance brightness in dark environments.[2]

Generative Edit

The ProVisual Engine includes Generative Edit, a feature that leverages generative AI to modify images after they are captured. This allows users to adjust composition by resizing, repositioning, or filling in backgrounds when objects are moved or removed.[3]

Expert RAW Integration

The engine integrates with Expert RAW, Samsung’s advanced photography mode, to process high-resolution images. It combines 50MP multi-frame images with 12MP shots, producing 24MP photos with improved dynamic range and reduced noise.[3]

Enhance-X and Camera Shift

Samsung’s Enhance-X application, powered by the ProVisual Engine, offers AI-based editing tools, including Camera Shift, which allows users to adjust a photo’s perspective after capture.[3]

Applications

The ProVisual Engine is implemented in Samsung’s flagship smartphones, including the Galaxy S24 Series, Galaxy S25 Series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. It is designed to provide improved image processing for both amateur and professional photographers, with a focus on AI-assisted optimization of images and videos.[4]
