Prathama UP Gramin Bank was created on 1 April 2019 by the amalgamation of two regional rural banks in Uttar Pradesh:[1]

- Sarva UP Gramin Bank
The creation of Prathama UP Gramin Bank took place under Sub-Section (1) of Section 23A of the Regional Rural Bank Act, 1976 (21 of 1976).[2]
The bank has 950 branches around 19 districts of Uttar Pradesh; it will also have one branch in Haridwar District of Uttarakhand.[3] The bank is sponsored by the Punjab National Bank.
Sarva UP Gramin Bank
Previously PUPGB was Sarva UP Gramin Bank (SUPGB). SUPGB was created in 2013 by amalgamation of 4 RRBs viz. Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank Meerut, Kisan Gramin Bank Budaun, Rani Laxmi Bai Kshetriya Gramin Bank Jhansi and Devipatan Kshetriya Gramin Bank Gonda under subsection (1) of section 23 A of Regional Rural Bank Act, 1976.
Prathama Bank
Prathama Bank[4] (lit. First Bank) was established in 1975 by Syndicate Bank. It was the first RRB in India.
