Help me!

Please help me with... Politics of Russia 3 days ago, I requested the article for EC protection but it was declined, citing lack of bad editing(not enough even for semi-protection). What I can do in this situation? (I'm new and the article I'm talking about is related to 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, per the Arbitration Enforcement (general sanctions).

Keep an eye on the page, revert any vandalism or inappropriate edits, and re-request protection if the disruption gets bad enough. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 18:03, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! How I can get help in the teahouse, live help channel, or the help desk? CreatorTheWikipedian2009 (talk) 21:10, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have checked the edit history of the page and the filter log. If I detect that the most recent edit triggers the filter, I'll clean it up. If the user refuses and reverts, I'll say: "Stop. Edit. Warring." So yeah, I'll check the logs for vandalism and edit warring, and if I detect one, I'll report the issue.
Here's the plan for page protection. It will be triggered if something goes wrong.
  1. Edit and filter log frequent check
  2. If I detect some edit that triggers the filter, I revert it.
  3. If vandalism continues, I report the issue.
  4. Issue discussion, and measures taken. Usually page protection, and/or blocking of the user who vandalized the page.
  5. If reverse of a vandalistic edit leads the user reverting it, it's called an edit war. Once again, I report the issue for an edit war. Then I'm going back to step 4.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of this article, this is likely to happen. CreatorTheWikipedian2009 (talk) 21:51, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A friendly suggestion

I'm not sure why you've chosen to edit Wikipedia, but you are very welcome. Everybody brings their own interest and willingness, so please understand when I say: please choose some other interest than page protection. We only protect pages under active attack, except for unusual circumstances. If you request protection on a page like Politics of Russia, which has zero disruption in months, the request will be quickly dismissed and the requester will look pretty silly. In my experience, new editors should best focus on content, not behaviors of other editors. In general, don't be the police; others' behaviors are not your business at this point. Working on stubs is one really great way to get valuable experience without getting too much fuss.

Your high energy is welcome. What kinds of subjects interest you? Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia can tell you lots about what to do here. I often click on the Random article link in the upper left corner of the wikiwindow. The Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Adventure can be a great place to start. You've already found the Teahouse. Sing out if you need help. BusterD (talk) 14:23, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. CreatorTheWikipedian2009 (talk) 14:48, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You are quite welcome. A new editor who is courteous in reply and seems to respond appropriately to feedback will do well on Wikipedia. Good for you. BusterD (talk) 15:30, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Teahouse

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but you might want to learn more about editing Wikipedia before attempting to answer questions at the Teahouse. Your answers here and here, for example, weren't helpful. The article has already been reviewed, the question was why search crawlers hadn't found it yet. Editors don't review their own articles. As for "ask other wikipedians for help", that's what the OP was doing by posting at the Teahouse. Perhaps you could check out WP:Task center for some ideas on how you could best contribute to the project. Hope that helps! Schazjmd (talk) 21:11, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
