Further help with lists
I was wondering if you would mind helping out with List of male performers in gay porn films. At the moment references are in the form of editor comments. Will Beback is presently converting these manually and I was wondering if you could write a script that could (a) turn the remaining editor comment references into visible ones and (b) convert all references into inline citations? It might be an idear to adopt the tabular style of the LGB people lists as well. Your help would be much appreciated. WjBscribe 00:45, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- You're right- I'd assumed that he had stopped at E but in fact the later one don't yet have citations. Could you convert them to inline <ref> </ref> format though. Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of unassessed articles tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Peer Review
I followed the instructions at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Disputed_statement because I came across a statement which seemed inaccurate.
One of the steps is to start a peer review, but that was deleted soon after I posted it. What instructions should I follow?

OK, thanks for the info, I would undo the move but I see you already have.
I'm starting to get a bit worried about the tags these images have on the Wikipedia. If they were published outside the US how can they be PD-US in the first place? (The 1st image had a description saying it was published in France, so I took it that the tag was some sort of mistake and should have been fair use. But the next 2 images merely contained French text and could have been published anywhere, but had a PD-US tag implying a US publication prior to 1923.) The Commons bans fair use images but allows PD-US. Surely the issue is whether these are PD-US at all. If these images are not in the Public Domain in the US then they are not in the Public Domain in the US - period. So they may be allowed in the Wikipedia, or they may not. Perhaps I'm getting the wrong end of the stick - could you clarify please? --Simon Speed 01:07, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
I've been checking on the Commons:Licensing page. Among the worrying passages is -
- Regarding the United States and non-U.S. works, one should bear in mind that the U.S. passed a law (the Uruguay Round Agreements Act, URAA) that restored copyrights in the U.S. on foreign works if that work was still copyrighted in the foreign source country on the URAA date. This URAA date was January 1, 1996 for most countries. This means that foreign works became copyrighted in the U.S. even if they had been in the public domain in the U.S. before the URAA date.
Basically if a French work is not PD in France now it's not PD in the US. The Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Public domain page says that the PD-US tag is for images published in the United States before 1923. Megaloprepus caerulatus
Hi, I added a photo for an article you (primarily) wrote, Megaloprepus caerulatus, from a recent trip to Costa Rica. (The photo isn't perfect, but it's not too bad I hope.) Thanks for your efforts on this fine article.
If you know something about tropical insects, I have a couple of other decent insect photos from my Costa Rica trip that I would be happy to upload on Wikipedia, but (not having any insect reference books for Central America), I've had some trouble identifying the species (or the genus, or even the family). See this wasp and this "stink bug"; any suggestions would be welcome.

The Well of Loneliness is a 1928 lesbian novel by the British author Radclyffe Hall. It follows the life of Stephen Gordon, an Englishwoman from an upper-class family whose "sexual inversion" (homosexuality) is apparent from an early age. She finds love with Mary Llewellyn, whom she meets while serving as an ambulance driver in World War I, but their happiness together is marred by social isolation and rejection, which Hall depicts as having a debilitating effect on inverts. The novel portrays inversion as a natural, God-given state and makes an explicit plea: "Give us also the right to our existence". The novel became the target of a campaign by James Douglas, editor of the Sunday Express newspaper, who wrote "I would rather give a healthy boy or a healthy girl a phial of prussic acid than this novel." Although its only sexual reference consists of the words "and that night, they were not divided", a British court judged it obscene because it defended "unnatural practices between women". In the United States the book survived legal challenges in New York state and in Customs Court. (more...)

This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. The group's mission is to develop LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia projects, in all languages. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view.
