Objectivity and Notability

Without doing research of my own, I wouldn't be able to improve this article. I found the writing superb. As someone who has written an article about a contemporary artist, I understand the difficulty of finding multiple viewpoints on an artist's work. The nature of reviews available are necessarily positive. Merely describing the artist's work can sound too positive at times.

The greater issue I found in this article is its lack of notability. I recommend the original author to highlight the purpose of the article. Could the author answer the question: how is the artist important to an artistic movement or style? Is the artist important to his community? Those are just a couple of possibilities. I look forward to learning more ways to improve my article (Donald Renner) by engaging here. Thank you for your time! Kate R. Farrell (talk) 20:03, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree the article is nicely presented but there is no claim no notability. The citations are weak, no evidence of the kind of impact or reputation we'd like for WP:NARTIST and I was unable to find anything additional of value. With the lengthy gallery it looks very much like a promotional page for a regional artist.
I've put a notability tag on the article as a first step towards nominating it for deletion. If anyone wants to update this to try to salvage this by adding reliable sources showing it it can meet NARTIST or GNG (or some other standard) I suggest this is the time.
