You are invited to participate in The World Destubathon. It's currently planned for June 16-July 13, partly due to me having hayfever during that period and not wanting to run it throughout July or August in the hotter summer and will be run then unless multiple editors object. There is currently $3338 going into it, with $500 the top prize. As 250 countries and entities is too much to patrol, entries will be by user, but there is $500 going into prizes for editors covering the most countries. Sign up if interested! ♦ Dr. Blofeld
Missing symbology(?)
I'm not sure if symbology is the correct term but here Hubert Herald is mentioned the garland of rice and cotton on the TNI's Insignia supposed to make the numbers of 45 and 17 respectively which is not represented by the Insignia available on the Wiki. This kind of mistakes or (for a lack of better term) ignorance on the importance of sometimes subtly messaging or symbology gets forgotten or overlooked when replicating such insignias and I think it should be fixed as quickly as possible. Another case which I also pushed a couple of years back was the TNI AU's Insignia which supposed to have 4 and 5 tongues of fire symbolizing the year 1945 by Official Air Force Sources. Personally not comfortable doing edits especially of .SVGs as I'm not a good editor so if anyone can or knows someone that can please help in fixing these mistakes so that it is not continued. Thanks in advance. - EvoSwatch (talk) 07:24, 8 August 2025 (UTC)
- @EvoSwatch: I think you were looking for "symbolism". Anyway, the currently used File:Insignia of the Indonesian National Armed Forces.svg seems indeed flawed as you mentioned. A quick fix you can also easily apply is to choose a different image; there are several alternatives available at commons:Category:Emblems of Indonesian National Armed Forces. Another more time-consuming option is to place your request at commons:Commons:Graphic Lab/Illustration workshop, where eventually someone will hopefully apply the corrections. --HyperGaruda (talk) 19:38, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

Ministry of Culture articles are a bit confusing
I came across it while researching an article about ex minister Hilmar Farid, but the culture ministry articles are a bit of a mess and might be confusing to a reader. See Ministry of Education and Culture (Indonesia), Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Ministry of Culture (Indonesia) etc. Perhaps someone who understands the evolution of different ministries better than me can rewrite them a bit to clarify the relation between the existing and abolished versions. Princess Gavi
Hello. Are there any Indonesian horse racing fans here? I'm trying to create an article about Draft:Princess Gavi (still in draft ns), the Super Sprint winning race horse in Kejurnas Serie 2, but the draft has not been reviewed yet. Is there anything in the article that needs to be fixed? Thx. Rinai Natsumi (talk) 07:45, 2 November 2025 (UTC)

Regarding Potential Biases on Several Articles(?)
My concern: the consistency of the “Place of origin” field
Hi WikiProject Indonesia editors and contributors, I'm asking this question because it seems to me that there are several articles regarding Indonesian cuisine that are, in a way, contested from 'softly' to several edit wars that I have noticed — specifically relating to how the "Place of origin" field that is filled out in food-related infoboxes.
I have no idea where to ask to be honest so I hope it is acceptable to raise it here for clarification.
1. Articles such as Satay, Cendol, and Sambal, currently list "Maritime Southeast Asia" as the place of origin in their infoboxes. However, many of these foods have documented, traceable points of origin within specific cultural or language contexts, rather than being created simultaneously across the entire region.
2. In comparison, articles like Soy sauce, French fries or even Sweet soy sauce, list a specific country or cultural origin, even if those foods later spread globally or gained popularity elsewhere. Their infoboxes are not retroactively updated to broad regions simply because the food is now widely consumed or strongly associated with other regions/countries/areas.
3. While it is true that foods evolve, spread, and develop numerous regional variations — for example sambal, cendol, or even French fries, and pizza, I find Wikipedia generally continues to recognize their documented point of origin rather than replacing it with the broader region associated with later cultural association, globalization, or popularization.
To illustrate: satay (sate) uses a cooking technique of skewering meat that exists globally and predates its specific cultural form. However, the term “saté” itself is a documented Javanese loanword, and the earliest historical references identify it as originating in Java. By comparison, we do not merge kebab and satay into a single article merely because they share the concept of skewered meat; the distinct terminology, cultural development, and historical lineage justify separate origins and separate articles. Just like how Flammkuchen is not the same as Pizza.
Following this logic, if there is a specific region or culture where a named dish first appeared and was historically identified, and it later spread, diversified, or became culturally shared across borders (or islands, in this case) - then the infobox should reflect that original point of origin, rather than a broad regional label that may obscure historical specificity.
4. Articles like Rendang have been heavily debated and have undergone many revisions over time, often influenced by nationalistic pride from both Indonesian and Malaysian perspectives. While this level of interest is understandable, it is an article that is consistent with Wikipedia policy to let reliable historical sources determine the stated origin, as in the examples mentioned in point 1 above.
Anyways, I want to clarify that I’m not approaching this from a nationalistic perspective, but rather out of a desire for consistency with Wikipedia guidelines. That's why I’m raising this question here because it appears that there may be differing interpretations on how the “Place of origin” field should be applied, and I would appreciate clarification.
Thank you Lieur (talk) 20:38, 23 November 2025 (UTC)
- I think you have the right idea here. I noticed a few years ago with Babi panggang as another example, that edits were tinkering with adding or removing different geographic and ethnic elements. I don't think it's too bad at the moment (it says it originates in Indonesia and describes its use in different contexts). let's just all try to keep an eye on these things. seeking photo for H. B. Jassin Literary Archive
I created an EN article for H. B. Jassin Literary Archive, but the photo used on the ID wiki is of the old building. In 2022 it moved into a fancy new building. I know building photos have some issues in Indonesia, any possibility of getting a photo of the current building? Couldn't find anything on wikimedia commons. Discussion about WikiProject banner templates
For WikiProjects that participate in rating articles, the banners for talk pages usually say something like:
- "This article has been rated as Low-importance on the importance scale."
There is a proposal to change the default wording on the banners to say "priority" instead of "importance". This could affect the template for your group. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council#Proposal to update wording on WikiProject banners. The article Gelora Brawijaya Stadium has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unsourced for 17 years. No other language has a reliably sourced article from which to translate. Small, run of the mill stadium.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.
If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Bearian (talk) 02:12, 23 January 2026 (UTC)

Translation help needed for bilingual welcome template
Courtesy link: Template:Welcome-foreign/Indonesian
Hello. Can you help verify a brief, English-to-Indonesian translation in a welcome template?
Template:Welcome-foreign is a bilingual welcome template used to welcome new users who have written content in some other language besides English. The template welcomes them first in English, then in their own language, as long as it is one of the three dozen languages it can handle. New languages are easily added. Someone added support for Indonesian, creating Template:Welcome-foreign/Indonesian from the original at Template:Welcome-foreign/English, but it looks like they used a pre-AI machine translation to do it. I'd appreciate it if a native Indonesian speaker could verify or improve the translation. Feel free to edit it directly, or paste a better translation below, if you prefer not to edit a template. Thanks! Mathglot (talk) 06:16, 9 February 2026 (UTC)

The article SMK Muhammadiyah 7 Gondanglegi has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Tagged as Unreferenced and for Notability concerns for almost 11 years. No other language has a reliably sourced article from which to translate. A Google search found a few news stories and fiction about students, which could in theory make it barely notable. The real problem is that it's incomprehensible. WP:TNT.

About the block of auth.wikimedia.org in Indonesia.
- Crossposting this to Wikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals)#CentralNotice_banner_in_Indonesia_explaining_the_recent_block_on_auth.wikimedia.org_and_linking_to_ID_WP_community_statement
As you might have heard, Indonesian government blocked the login/registration authentication subdomain in Indonesia since Feb 25th.

The Indonesian Wikipedian community have discussed and written a response to this development, and asked for a Central Notice banner. I would like to invite members of WP Indonesia to decide if EN.WP would like to put a banner (targeted geographically for readers from Indonesia, which according to stats.wikimedia.org, in February 2026, English Wikipedia has 58 million page views from Indonesia), and sign as one of the signatories of the Community Statement, together with 20+ communities that have done so.
