Wikipedia:Featured and good topic candidates
|
Featured and good topics in Wikipedia A featured topic (FT) is a collection of inter-related articles in which at least half are featured articles or featured lists. The remaining articles must be at least good quality. A good topic (GT) is a collection of inter-related articles that are of a good quality (though are not necessarily featured articles) with a less stringent quality threshold than a featured topic. This page is for the nomination of potential featured and good topics. See the featured and good topic criteria for criteria on both types of topic. Before nominating a topic, nominators may wish to receive feedback by listing it at the Featured and good topics talk page. Nominators must be sufficiently familiar with the subject matter and sources to deal with objections during the FTC/GTC process. If you nominate something you have worked on, note it as a self-nomination. Nominators who are not significant contributors to the articles of the topic should consult regular editors of the articles prior to nomination. Nominators are expected to respond positively to constructive criticism and to make an effort to address objections promptly. The featured and good topics coordinators Aza24, MaranoFan and Kyle Peake determine the timing of the process for each nomination. For a nomination to be promoted to FT or GT status, consensus must be reached for a group to be promoted to featured or good topic status. If enough time passes without objections being resolved, nominations will be removed from the candidates topic and archived. To contact the FGTC coordinators, please leave a message on the FGTC talk page, or use the {{@FGTC}} notification template elsewhere. You may want to check previous archived nominations first: |

Nomination procedureTo create a new nomination use the form below (e.g., Wikipedia:Featured and good topic candidates/Saffron/archive1) and click the "Create new nomination" button. Once the nomination page is created, remember to transclude it in the appropriate section below, to leave nomination templates on the talk pages of the articles nominated for the topic. For detailed instructions on how to nominate topics or add articles to existing topics, see Wikipedia:Featured and good topic candidates/Nomination procedure. Supporting and objectingPlease review all the articles of the nominated topic with the featured and good topic criteria in mind before deciding to support or oppose a nomination.
For a topic to be promoted to featured or good topic status, consensus must be reached that it meets the criteria. The FGTC coordinators are usually the ones to assess this consensus and close FGTC discussions. If there is a consensus to promote, the promote instructions are located here. If enough time passes without objections being resolved (at least one week), nominations will be removed from the candidates list and archived. Nominations will stay here for ten days if there is unanimous consent, or longer if warranted by debate. | |

Midnight Entity
The Midnight Entity is the conjectural name given to a being that appears in the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who. First appearing in the 2008 episode "Midnight", the Midnight Entity would later serve as the antagonist in a sequel story, "The Well" (2025). The Midnight Entity has little known about it in-universe and lacks a physical appearance, though is capable of possessing and mimicking the speech of others.

This is very much a test run to see if these kinds of character specific Doctor Who GTs can fly. This topic is focused on the Entity, and contains its two appearances and creator. I believe this should be comprehensive and cover everything to do with the character, since it otherwise lacks a consistent portrayer. Open to any comments on this topic, this is very much an experiment but one I do hope to see get passed if possible. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 06:39, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
- I don't see why this wouldn't work. I did contribute to "The Well", but not with this in mind. Given that I also didn't contribute to any of the other articles in this proposed topic, I feel I can offer an unbiased !vote, so I'm happy to support. Nice work! Crash Bandicoot
Crash Bandicoot is a video game franchise created by Naughty Dog for Sony's PlayStation console. Beginning with the first game in 1996, the series features the titular Crash, a goofy genetically enhanced bandicoot who foils the schemes of his creator Doctor Neo Cortex. The original trilogy, plus the kart racer Crash Team Racing (1999), were praised for their vibrant visuals and polished gameplay. Following Naughty Dog's departure, the series went multiplatform under various developers and publishers. Gameplay focuses on 3D platforming in linear levels with varying perspectives. Mechanics include jumping and spinning to defeat enemies, collecting Wumpa fruit, breaking crates and gathering crystals, gems, and relics. The games take place in a fictional archipelago, with key characters including Crash, his sister Coco, his floating mask ally Aku Aku, the villainous Cortex and his mutant henchmen. After a mixed reception in the 2000s and a 2010s hiatus, the series experienced a revival with the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (2017), Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled (2019), and Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (2020). The series established Naughty Dog as a major video game developer and made Crash the PlayStation's unofficial mascot.
I am making this nomination for Good Topic, as the series page has just been promoted to Good Article. The other pages in the scope include the Featured List of video games (along with the recently promoted subtopic) and the series' protagonist and antagonist, both of which are GA. The Meléndez–Quiñónez dynasty was a period in this history of El Salvador where the Meléndez and Quiñónez families exerted authoritarian control of the Salvadoran government. From 1913 to 1927, brothers Carlos and Jorge Meléndez and their brother-in-law, Alfonso Quiñónez Molina, traded the presidency amongst themselves. They consolidated their political allies and patronage network into the National Democratic Party and monopolized polling stations during elections to ensure the dynasty's survival. The dynasty ended when Pío Romero Bosque, who Quiñónez hand-picked to serve as a puppet ruler, broke ties with the dynasty and implemented democratic reforms.
This proposed good topic covers the presidential tenures of Carlos and Jorge Meléndez, Alfonso Quiñónez Molina, and the first few months of Pío Romero Bosque. The political dynasty, connected by blood relation or marriage, ruled El Salvador from 1913 to 1927 when Romero brought it to an end. The topic and all articles should satisfy the GT criteria. It could be argued that Manuel Enrique Araujo could also be included since his assassination in 1913 paved the way for the dynasty rising, but he had little direct interaction with the dynasty's core members so I left him out. - Support. I reviewed the articles on the Meléndez brothers and Quiñónez and found them to be very well-written. The article on Romero is also quite good. The articles on the Red League and the National Democratic Party (which I also reviewed), might merit inclusion, but that is merely a suggestion. — ThaddeusOrlando55 (talk) 09:10, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
- Comment This topic has an associated category (Category:Meléndez–Quiñónez dynasty). I think the topic should include all the articles in the category, particularly the party article, which existed in association of the dynasty, and the elections. NimbleNumbat (talk) 09:59, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
- IMO, all the elections aren't crucial for the topic. It's just that those elections happened to occur during the dynasty's reign and so I lumped them into the category. But I did add the PND and Red League to the nomination since they were pretty much a part of the dynasty. PizzaKing13 (¡Hablame!) 🍕👑 12:53, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating is a series of senior-level international figure skating competitions sanctioned by the International Skating Union. The Grand Prix consists of six qualifying events, held in succession over a span of six weeks, plus the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final. Currently, Grand Prix events are hosted by Canada, China, Finland, France, Japan, and the United States. Previous events were hosted by Germany and Russia. Medals are awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Skaters earn points based on their results at their respective competitions, and after the six qualifying events, the top skaters or teams in each discipline are invited to compete at the Grand Prix Final.

The Grand Prix consists of six international events, plus the Grand Prix Final, and two retired events. All of the articles in this series have been promoted to GA, except for three which have been promoted to FL. --Bgsu98 (Talk) 17:26, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
- Comment should the 2021 Gran Premio d'Italia and the 2022 MK John Wilson Trophy be included? I feel that those articles need to be promoted if you want to make a topic on this. - @CosXZ: Thank you for taking the time to comment. I had actually thought about this, but decided against it, since the 2021 Gran Premio d'Italia and the 2022 MK John Wilson Trophy are individual events on par with, for example, 2021 Skate America. These GA articles are the overall competitions, not the individual events. If I were to try and promote all of the 2021 Grand Prix events to GA, 2021 Gran Premio d'Italia would need to be included in that group. But I don't think these two events are necessary for the overarching topic of Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Bgsu98 (Talk) 03:38, 13 February 2026 (UTC)

- Support – The Gran Premio d'Italia and the MK John Wilson Trophy should remain excluded as they were substitute editions for the Cup of China. NimbleNumbat (talk) 10:10, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
