Hi, this edit will not have notified anybody, because it's a not a new post. If you had put all of the extra text on a new line, it would have worked. See WP:MENTION. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 17:31, 2 October 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tip. Can you tell how often I use this function? The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 19:09, 2 October 2025 (UTC)
- Not without looking through your past edits (see WP:WIKIHOUNDING, second paragraph). Personally, at Preferences → Notifications I have enabled "Successful mention", and after saving the edit, I check my blue notifications to make sure it went through. The companion "Failed mention" setting doesn't pick up all failures, it's mainly good for things like mistyped usernames. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:28, 2 October 2025 (UTC)
- Good to know, I think I'll go ahead and enable that myself. Always learning new things around here! The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 23:08, 2 October 2025 (UTC)

What exactly is the scope of NOPAGE? Interesting discussion that concerns an AFD that you/we have participated in. MattSucci (talk) 16:25, 4 October 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the notification. I'll respond at some point, the tenor of that conversation so far is alarming to say the least. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 16:32, 4 October 2025 (UTC)
Redirect has been reverted and article is jam-packed with fancruft and much worse than before. Maybe you could work your magic here?! Regards, MattSucci (talk) 21:56, 17 October 2025 (UTC)

Hello Blade, I’d like to let you know that someone has created an article for Shigeko Kagawa. As of writing this, it is unfinished, the grammar is pretty bad, and there’s only three sources. Additionally, I should mention it was created by sock puppet Alfred120. While this could potentially be an article in the future, I think it’s best to either bold redirect or AfD for the meantime. What do you think? PrezDough (talk) 01:53, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
- I agree with redirecting it to List of Japanese supercentenarians, the draft clearly wasn't ready and the majority of the content is from a sock. I'm about to go dark for several hours, if you haven't done it by the time I'm back I'm happy to do it myself. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 03:36, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
Hey
I am wondering if you could nominate my main account for adminship? 2606:9400:98A0:92A0:F50E:71E:A047:36A1 (talk) 19:35, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
- First you'll need to log in to your account. You currently have just over 1,000 edits, you'll likely need to build up a bit more a track record; so far you're looking like you're generally on the right track. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 17:43, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
Guide to temporary accounts
Hello, The Blade of the Northern Lights. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.
Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.
How do temporary accounts work?
- When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern:
~2025-12345-67(a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5). - All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
- A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
- As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
- There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
- There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.
Temporary account IP viewer user right
- Administrators may grant the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right to non-administrators who meet the criteria for granting. Importantly, an editor must make an explicit request for the permission (e.g. at WP:PERM/TAIV)—administrators are not permitted to assign the right without a request.
- Administrators will automatically be able to see temporary account IP information once they have accepted the Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy via Special:Preferences or via the onboarding dialog which comes up after temporary accounts are deployed.
Impact for administrators
- It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
- It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
- Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).
Rules about IP information disclosure
- Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
- Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g.
~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR
, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67) - See Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.
Useful tools for patrollers
- It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences → Appearance → Advanced options →
Enable the user info card
- This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
- Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
- Similarly, Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
- The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.

The page Spider-Man No More! has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it was a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion review. Query
Hello, The Blade of the Northern Lights,
I saw your response at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#Sock clean up needed and I was just wondering what tool did you use to handle mass reverts of page moves? For some reason, there are some vandals (and a few new users) who go overboard with moving pages and it would be helpful to know of a tool to help undo damage that has been done. Many thanks and I hope you are having a good autumn. Liz Read! Talk! 20:18, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
- Can't complain about the autumn so far, even if the foliage isn't the best with how dry it's been. The tool I use is User:SD0001/massMoveRevert.js, which is quite helpful; it was something I and a couple editor clamored for to deal with Tobias Conradi socks, since one of them in particular did about 1,200 that needed to be undone. Hope you find it as useful as I have. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 22:12, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
- I really envy editors who have the technical expertise to put these tools together that so many others can benefit from. I'll give it a shot. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 01:39, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

Scope of U7
Please note that U7 only applies to users who have made few or no edits outside of user space
. You deleted User:Gabefair/Republican Sex Crimes but Gabefair has many edits outside of userspace so I don't think the criterion applies. * Pppery * it has begun... 03:23, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
- And also U7 only applies to user subpages, not user basepages as User:Ravikumarcp was. (See Wikipedia:Replacement of CSD U5 FAQ for why this rule was written). My intent here isn't to ask you to undelete these, per se, but to notify every single admin of their deletions that don't appear to meet the criteria in order to prevent a culture of scope creep as was previously the case with U5. * Pppery * it has begun... 03:25, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
- Good to know, thanks. For the second one I thought I'd changed my rationale to G3 on my drop-down, since that's what I actually thought applied, not sure what happened there. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 04:57, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

Hi there @The Blade of the Northern Lights,
I just wanted to say thanks for your very, very quick help on ~2026-14017-07. In the past, it's taken upwards of 30+ minutes, and we could've had multiple more vandalisms during that time. So truly, thank you!
Best,
