First draft
Hello Sungodtemple. Pleased to meet you as my mentor.
I made my first article draft and wondering if you will be able to look at it? Or are they assigned to random reviewers/editors? Thanks. Ultima seraphim (talk) 03:30, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- Ultima seraphim When an editor submits a draft to Articles for Creation (AfC), it is put in a pile of unreviewed drafts that volunteer reviewers look at in no particular order. I am an AfC reviewer, but there is no guarantee I would be the one looking at your draft.
- It seems like the article draft you created (Draft:Agc-media-executive) was speedy deleted for unambiguous advertising or promotion. I cannot look at deleted pages, so I cannot give any feedback on your draft, but I would recommend (as I see you have already done) reaching out to Jimfbleak who deleted the page. If he does not respond on your user talk page, you can try to leave a message at User talk:Jimfbleak as well.
- If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 04:31, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- I see. Okay, thanks so much Ultima seraphim (talk) 06:23, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from Mickey mouse 129 (11:24, 4 January 2026)
Is it alright for admins to use threats to "force" people into doing something, which is against Wikipedia: Do not bite the newcomers? --Mickey mouse 129 (talk) 11:24, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
- Mickey mouse 129 no, but if you show that you are not here to build an encyclopedia, for example claiming to be from Volunteer Response Team you may be blocked from editing. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 17:21, 4 January 2026 (UTC)

Hello, I was just wondering. What is the best way to edit something? --Falderharlie (talk) 16:11, 11 January 2026 (UTC)
- Falderharlie of course, that depends on what that 'something' is. Could you give a bit more context on what you want to do, and I can help you out? Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 21:08, 11 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from GreyMargin88 (11:15, 12 January 2026)
Hello, I hope you are well. I published my first draft. It seems it remains in the sandbox, is there any way i can move it to draft/submitted? I'm not sure I get that part correctly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:GreyMargin88/sandbox

Question from Aerotokki23 (01:16, 17 January 2026)
Hey, nice to meet you! I'm reading about the jet stream (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jet_stream) and in the second paragraph of the description, I see this pointer to "engineeringtoolbox's calculator", which seems out of character for Wikipedia. I found a calculator from the government on this other Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pressure_altitude. How can I add this information to the original page (ie the correct conversion of hpa to altitude)? Thanks! --Aerotokki23 (talk) 01:16, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
- Aerotokki23 Calculating the height above sea level from the pressure, however trivial it seems, would be considered original research. In this case, to resolve the disagreement it would be best to look at what reliable sources say.
- I looked at the two references at the end of the paragraph; one does not mention a specific height, and the other one says 30000ft. I did a Google search, and from the reliable sources, according to [1] it is 30000ft, and [2] and [3] it is 9000m (which is roughly 29500 ft). So it should be 30000ft, as originally stated in the article, or possibly 9000m, if SI is a more standard unit to use in meteorology. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 19:27, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
- Makes sense. Thank you! Aerotokki23 (talk) 19:34, 17 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from Coreyglab1955 (03:26, 23 January 2026)
A Wikipedia article that included 7.2 million the cost of the Alaska purchase cited an adjusted for inflation cost of about 130 million. This statement ignores the fact that the 7.2 million was paid in GOLD. An 1867 $20 gold coin contains (1/22/2026) $4789.82 worth of gold. 360,000 $20 gold coins contain over 1.7 Billion worth of gold. That perspective should be noted in the article that ignores that the payment was in gold and an order of magnitude difference in the cost if quoted in the actual method of payment. --Coreyglab1955 (talk) 03:26, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
- Coreyglab1955 Thanks for bringing this up! If most reliable sources related to Alaska Purchase support your argument, then the article should be changed to reflect that. But if most reliable sources use the standard GDP deflator, then the article should reflect that. In general, Wikipedia should reflect what reliable sources say, not necessarily what editors personally believe. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 02:41, 24 January 2026 (UTC)
Question from BelowaverageGaming (17:35, 26 January 2026)
Hello! I'm a little new here so i'm asking about wikipedia: Do you have to edit or submit a page or can you just mess around and research stuff? Thanks! --BelowaverageGaming (talk) 17:35, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
- BelowaverageGaming any contribution that ultimately improves the encyclopedia is welcomed; as you said you can create and edit content articles, but you could also fight vandalism, do copy-editing, or add links between articles. I would recommend starting with some beginner tasks at your newcomer homepage.
- I'm not sure what you mean by 'mess around and research stuff', but as long as it doesn't prevent others from improving the encyclopedia, then you should be fine. Though if you are just trying to use Wikipedia as a web host, you should not do that here. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 21:43, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Question from User:Eduardo Gade Gusmao
Hello, it seems you were assigned to me as "mentor".
- What is this page?
- What is the preferred source of scientific information on Wikipedia? (Research Papers?)
- Where do I ask you whether something must be removed (I will not perform removals without showing to a "mentor" first). Because of: Hate Speech, Unethical Behavior, Biased Behavior, Non-Person of Interest Pages, etc.
Thanks, and I am sorry if this is not the correct venue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eduardo Gade Gusmao (talk • contribs) 13:35, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
- Eduardo Gade Gusmao I've moved your thread to the bottom of the page. To answer your questions:
- This page is my user talk page, where I can discuss with other users, including my mentees, but also including any other editors.
- There is no 'preferred' source. Any source that meets the reliable sources guideline should be acceptable.
- If you need advice on whether content is acceptable to add or remove, you can ask here. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 21:07, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
Question
Hello i have a question
1_how can i use WP in summery of my edits like this (WP:WPNOTRS )?? How can I use them ? Do I need to memorize them ?
2 _ how can I block a user who has caused trouble?
Thank you Anya2025 12:14, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
- Anya2025 to answer your questions:
- These are called redirects which can be useful for referencing pages with very long article titles (like WP:WPNOTRS as you gave). To use a redirect, simply wikilink the redirect name. You can do this while editing pages and in edit summaries.
- There are many different ways to resolve issues depending on what "trouble" they "caused". If you could elaborate more, I could be of more help.
- Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 18:25, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you very much.🌹
- For the second question, I just wanted to know what I should do if the warning reaches level 4 and the user ignores it. Anya2025 18:43, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
- Anya2025 again, I don't know what behavior you're looking to report. If it is obvious vandalism, you can create a new entry at WP:AIV, and an administrator will quickly block them from editing. But if there is some sort of content dispute, you should try to contact them to resolve the issue (with a non-templated message), and if you still meet no response, there are various noticeboards (see Template:Noticeboard links) such as WP:AN3 or WP:ANI that you can create a new thread at. Hello, I am interested in getting my research recognized on wikipedia, you can find most of it by searching 'Mirridian' on zenodo. --Olde King Crow (talk) 13:31, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
- Olde King Crow Unfortunately, Wikipedia is not the place to promote yourself and not the place to publish your research. Instead, it is an encyclopedia synthesizing existing, recognized knowledge. You would have to consider alternative outlets to promote your original research. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 23:49, 7 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Timi2506 (00:34, 10 February 2026)
Hi! I’m new to editing Wikipedia and I recently made an edit to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_A12 by adding a link to the tvOS page and updating it to say the latest tvOS version, I have noticed though that the other OSes (below the table: “ iOS support for the iPhone XS and XR ended with iOS 18.7.4, released on January 26, 2026, whilst iPadOS support for the aforementioned models is ongoing, with iPadOS 26.2.1, released on January 26, 2026, being the latest update.”) have links to the latest OS versions that (I think) auto update. I wanted to ask if you know how I could do the same for the tvOS Link to improve the quality of my edit?
Thanks in advance! - Timi2506 --Timi2506 (talk) 00:34, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
- Timi2506 The iPad OS versions/dates come from a template, in this case Template:Current iPadOS. There used to be an analogous one for tvOS too at Template:Current tvOS, but it was deleted at Wikipedia:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2023_June_24#Template:Current_tvOS. You should be able to use Template:Current tvOS/short instead.
- Tell me if you need any help inserting the template into the article, or if you have any other questions! Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 01:18, 10 February 2026 (UTC)

آیا چین ابرقدرت نیست؟ میثم سجادی (talk) 14:11, 10 February 2026 (UTC)

I am from Iran and my question is: Is China not a superpower? There is a source and it is even mentioned in the Persian Wikipedia that China is a superpower. Please correct the text to avoid any confusion in the English and Persian versions. میثم سجادی (talk) 14:20, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
- میثم سجادی One source claiming China is a superpower is not enough to state that in the article. Articles should reflect consensus (or the lack thereof) across all sources. See WP:BALANCE.
- English Wikipedia and Persian Wikipedia are completely separate projects. Persian Wikipedia might have a different policy on balancing viewpoints, and it would thus have a different article reflecting the policy. So inconsistency between different languages is not necessarily an issue. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 14:34, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
Question from Lgorman0812 (23:47, 12 February 2026)
Hello, I am trying to edit a page on Longshore Drift, I have gathered sources and have taken the information and tried breaking down what I have found interesting in the articles. This has been tricky topic, My information has been taken down due to chat gpt. one of my sources I did ask Chat Gpt and I cited the article I used and it did indeed state it was from Chat Gpt. I now see that is absolutely forbidden as content to be used. Where do I need to start as far as an annotated bibliography and outline on what I would like to change. I had this added in on the information I posted but was told the information would be removed if I didn't remove it myself. To be honest I posted it a few places because I was unsure where it was to be posted. I am new to changing wikipedia. --Lgorman0812 (talk) 23:47, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
- Lgorman0812 I don't understand what you're saying very well but I will do my best. You're editing Wikipedia as part of a class, right? Have you asked your instructor for help?
- It's completely fine to use ChatGPT to find sources, as long as the final content in the article is written by yourself. (I think that may have been where you ran into issues?) As for how you organize your sources and drafts, that is completely up to you. Using your sandbox might be a good starting point. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 04:43, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
- So as I get information should I post it in my sandbox and then when I finalize what I want to change and add to the wikipedia page grab what I have researched from there and post it on the Edit part of the wikipedia page I am changing? Lgorman0812 (talk) 19:32, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
- Lgorman0812 Again, it is up to you how you want to organize your editing. The process you described (copying text from sandbox to an article) works on a technical level, if that's what you're asking. (Make sure any references you cite copy over correctly.)
- So as I get information should I post it in my sandbox and then when I finalize what I want to change and add to the wikipedia page grab what I have researched from there and post it on the Edit part of the wikipedia page I am changing? Lgorman0812 (talk) 19:32, 13 February 2026 (UTC)

Wikipedia to me seems really important for perserving knowledge but i dont know how long it will sustain itself in the age of AI. I am also looking forward to contributing on this platform, so wish me luck getting started on here :) --Camilobillo666 (talk) 14:56, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
- Camilobillo666 hello and welcome to Wikipedia! You are right to be concerned about preserving human knowledge. It's one of our fundamental goals, so any contribution here would be greatly appreciated.
- In my opinion, you should start with relatively simple edits like those suggested at your newcomer homepage, to get an understanding of Wikipedia's community, policies, and guidelines. Then you can move to high-impact work like ensuring articles remain neutral in tone (Wikipedia:Neutral point of view) or writing Good Articles. - Islewis are you talking about Scribd? I'm assuming you're an employee of Scribd, or are being paid for your services, which means you must follow the instructions at WP:PAID - you must disclose you are being paid to edit Wikipedia either on your user page or in the edit summary of every edit you make.
- In addition, barring very minor edits, I would advise against editing the article directly, as it's hard to maintain a neutral tone when you have a conflict of interest to promote your company. Instead, I would use COI edit requests to suggest specific article changes so other uninvolved Wikipedians can ensure they are encyclopedic contributions. Hope this helps! Question from CodeMaximus XT (00:03, 25 February 2026)
Hello, ask someone who has been editing on wikipedia since laet 2024 but I only made an account yesteray on the 24th February. Could you explain the ranks of wikipedia users eg admin, user and how to rank up exactly and contribute. Many thanks, CodeMaximus XT --CodeMaximus XT (talk) 00:03, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- CodeMaximus XT You might be looking at this the wrong way; there are no 'ranks' you can obtain on Wikipedia, as the goal is not to collect user ranks but rather to build an encyclopedia. I suppose the only 'rank' would be administrators, but they are given significant extra responsibility, and you would only become one if you had a real drive to contribute to Wikipedia.
- I've also looked through your edits at your contributions page, and it looks like you haven't cited any reliable sources for your edits. You should note that original research is not allowed on Wikipedia, as the information would be unverifiable and you couldn't tell if a statement is telling the truth (or reflecting current understanding). Before making any other edits, I would go through and make sure that all the information you've added can be found in a reliable source, and cite those reliable sources. Question from Liamfelldownthewikihole (03:02, 27 February 2026)
Hi SunGodTemple! I find it hilarious that Wikipedia provides a mentor. If you're interested I'd love to chat about what you enjoy about Wikipedia and how to get the most out of it. I've used it for years without an account and finally made one so I can save and bookmark articles. Do you happen to know if there's a way to permanently enable dark mode across devices? --Liamfelldownthewikihole (talk) 03:02, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- Liamfelldownthewikihole Wikipedia has a very dedicated community following the spirit of open source, trying to create a 'free' encyclopedia, however impossible that is. And it's (I believe) the only top 50 website that is run by a nonprofit. It's very successful at its mission.
- To answer your question about dark mode, you can set the 'color' option in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rendering, which should sync across devices. I'm not fully sure though. If it doesn't work, you can try asking at the Teahouse. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 20:10, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
Question from YassinAdam1982 (12:01, 27 February 2026)
hello , i'm trying to create a Buography for Current Governor of Alexandria (Ayman Mohammed Ibrahim Ahmed Ateyya) in Egypt and another page for current Governor of Aswan , could you please help with that --YassinAdam1982 (talk) 12:01, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- YassinAdam1982 General advice about writing a new Wikipedia article can be found at the Your First Article page, which I would read first.
- Are you talking about Draft:Ayman Mohammed Ibrahim Ahmed Ateyya? The first thing you should probably do is ensure that he is notable, as the declining reviewer said. There are two ways to do this, you can either meet the general notability guideline or meet the subject-specific one for politicians. It seems that according to Wikipedia:Notability (people)/Subnational politicians, local officials, including mayors, wouldn't likely meet WP:NPOLITICIAN, so if the mayor is an 'average' Mayor of Alexandria, I would say there's a pretty low chance he is notable, in which case he just wouldn't have a Wikipedia article.
- In addition, there are some style issues, but unlike a lack of notability, those can be fixed relatively easily. Again, whether the article is ultimately accepted mostly hinges on whether you can prove the subject is notable, so don't worry too much about that for now.
