Hello @8bit12man. I would be happy to create such a map, but first I would like to clarify, by "a zoomed in map", you are referring to a map of only those areas where there is currently a Russian presence, along the border with the Donetsk region? SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) (contributions) 20:33, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@8bit12man: Please see the new version of the file. I initially excluded settlements under 150 population, but after rearranging some elements of the map, I was able to include every little village in the area, including Dachne. Thanks for the suggestion and please let me know if you have any other requests. SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) (contributions) 06:13, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I should also add, however, that I do not really see the need to create a Russian occupation of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast article at this time, simply because Russian forces have taken a few villages there. SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) (contributions) 20:35, 11 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to reopen the discussion but can you update the map? It has been around 2 months and significant frontline changes have happened. Thanks. 8bit12man (talk) 18:01, 24 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Done. I wasn't sure how to account for the new ISW "infiltrations" layer. For the time being it is shown as Russian control, but if you have a better idea let me know. Also, never apologize. Always happy to update these maps. SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) (contributions) 10:53, 28 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @I Know I'm Not Alone. Thanks for your valuable work in creating new articles. I would be happy to create a such a map, but this may take me a few days as I have a lot on my plate at the moment.
The map will be more similar in style to the one I just completed of the Kupiansk front, since I have come to prefer depicting settlements with their actual shapes rather than simply with circles. And as I mentioned above, I have been representing ISW's new "Russian infiltrations" layer simply as an extension of their "Russian control" and "Russian advances" layers, but I am open to other suggestions if you have any.
Hello @I Know I'm Not Alone, I am pleased to present you with my map of Huliaipole. Let me know if you think anything needs to be adjusted, and please don't hesitate to leave me another message any time you think that the territorial control needs to be updated. Best,
Thank you for your work! This map size and style seems perfectly fine to me also. My only suggestion is about the settlement names. It is pretty hard to read the names of the villages compared to the Novopavlivka map. I’m not sure if this is a font or a size issue. Possibly the red color could be slightly stronger aswell. Cheers, I Know I'm Not Alone (talk) 19:53, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @I Know I'm Not Alone, thanks for bringing up the color and the names since I wasn't totally happy with them either. I've made the red the same shade as it is in the Kupiansk map. I've also increased the font size for the names of the smallest settlements by one point, but I might still need to do a bit more to improve readability. Let me know what you think. Thanks, SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) (contributions) 11:41, 13 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @I Know I'm Not Alone, I increased the font size by one point again and moved the names around so that they are (mostly) below the settlements instead of on top of them. I think this has improved readability but let me know if it's not good enough on your end and I can try a few other adjustments. Hello SaintPaulOfTarsus, I noticed on your Wikimedia Commons user page that you have experimented with creating maps including movement in the past such as 1 and 2. These types of “arrow maps” provide a great visual representation for a military operation. In particular such a map has increased value when an offensive concluded. Personally, I believe there is a great lack of these types of maps on Wikipedia covering military offensives during the Russo-Ukrainian war. I was wondering if you are interested in adding arrows of movement to the Novopavlivka and Huliaipole maps once an operation ends. In my opinion this would be a massive contribution to the project!
Let me emphasize though; I do not want to push you for work. You should only do it on a voluntarily basis and if you continue to enjoy creating maps. I would completely understand it if you are busy at this moment in time. Happy Holidays! I Know I'm Not Alone (talk) 17:21, 24 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @SaintPaulOfTarsus, I left a request on your commons talk page regarding pending works with maps. You are yet to atleast reply to that. Will you be doing the work? Or maybe we start finding someone else. Bcoz those maps are a big part of the topic on this project. Shaan SenguptaTalk11:20, 17 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
