Hi, Rollingcat. I hope this mesage didn't scare you off! When to add wikilinks to articles can be quite subjective, and it takes some time to get used to. Typically, you don't need to link really common terms (like gay, straight, pronouns) or country names/ethnicities. We sort of assume that everybody knows what those words are. Instead, we try to link rarer words and proper nouns. Let's look through one of your edits as an example.

In [1]. These are the changes you made, and some advice:

1. You linked gay to gay men in the lead (first paragraph). Most users would probably consider this overlinking, because most native English speakers know what gay means. However, you could argue it was an appropriate link, given that the entire article hinges on the reader's understanding of the word "gay".

2.You linked gay to gay man twice the character lists. This second linking is probably excessive. Again, you can argue it's a good change because the reader's understanding of the article still hinges on them knowing what "gay" means. With the link in the lead, however, it is probably excessive. Without the link in the lead, however, this would probably be good change. Would it be necessary? Maybe, maybe not. Basically, I'd choose keep one of these links, and remove the other.

3. You linked non-binary to non-binary gender. That's a good use of a wikilink, in my opinion. It's entirely reasonable that the reader wouldn't know what non-binary meant. I don't know why the other editor reverted this change. If you like, you can add it back.

4. You linked homophobic to Homophobia in three places of the character list. This is overlinking. You can add a link to the first occurrence of the word, but after that we like to think the reader will know what the word means.

5. You added the word "non-binary". Assuming the character is non-binary, this is fine. The other editor should not have reverted you.

6. You wikilinked the word transgender. This is a common noun, but it doesn't matter too much if the reader understands what it means or not. I'd have probably linked it, others might not have.

7. You wikilinked the word historian. This is a very common noun. We don't tend to wikilink common professions like "doctor", "teacher", "firefighter", "historian", unless somebody has a good reason. We might wikilink rarer professions like "thoracic surgeon", "wildlife rehabilitator", or "war correspondent". Many native English speakers will know what those words mean, but many might not. This can take some getting used to, however, and everybody has their own opinions.

8. You wikilinked "abusive" to domestic violence. We don't tend to add wikilinks to common adjectives like this. Most English speakers will know what "abusive" means.
