Question from Familydad7 (22:50, 3 January 2026)

Why do some pages get locked? An no one can edit them? --Familydad7 (talk) 22:50, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Often to prevent vandalism, disruption or insertion of libellous claims. Contentious topics, topics that fall under editing sanctions or pages frequently vandalised often see increased levels of page protection. Rambley (talk / contribs) 23:49, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from ArgyleAndy73 (20:00, 5 January 2026)

Could you help me with a page move as the title no longer makes sense following a DoB updation --ArgyleAndy73 (talk) 20:00, 5 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, can I ask what page you’re talking about, where you want to move it to and why? Rambley (talk / contribs) 20:23, 5 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, its an edit to a DoB for a historic UK soccer player who's page his here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Butler_(footballer,_born_1885)
His DoB is actually some time before in 1877. I have corrected the article and made some other small data changes to the page but it makes no sense for the URL to end _born_1885 when he was actually born in 1877.
As far as I understand it, I can't edit the basic information that creates that page header / URL and would need to move the page to a new one like:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Butler_(footballer,_born_1877)
Is that so? ArgyleAndy73 (talk) 01:11, 6 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Can you provide a source for the DoB change? Cheers. Rambley (talk / contribs) 09:12, 6 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi yes, its on the ENFA (English National Football Archive) website but that's paid subscription only https://www.enfa.co.uk/ but I can send you a screen shot if that helps? Thought there doesn't appear to be a way of attaching here? ArgyleAndy73 (talk) 16:22, 6 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, is there any movement on this? Its still showing with the wrong YoB page reference now?
I have tried doing it myself but don't seem able to. The page reference should contain 1877.
See also here as a source - https://greensonscreen.co.uk/gosdb-players2.asp?pid=131 ArgyleAndy73 (talk) 12:23, 30 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, please cite the reliable sources in the article when making any changes, especially in a biography. Additionally, if you are going to move a page, move both the article and the talk page; not just one or the other. Rambley[who?] 12:33, 30 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Rambley
I've updated the #2 source now to reflect the change in YoB.
Have you moved the associated talk page or do I still need to?
Could you possibly give me an brief over view of the differences between a talk page and an article and how to move both, so I know for the future, or direct me to somewhere where i can read or learn about it?
Many thanks

Question from Swaggette (02:30, 16 January 2026)

Hey, I want to edit the article "Cuba-Ireland relations", specifically the section "Irish Cubans", because it's including too much irrelevant info and it sounds super opinionated, but it would involve deleting a whole paragraph of an already short article, so I want advise how to go forward. I also need to know how to do those info blocks at the top that are like "This article contains opinionated info" so I can get others' opinion on it. Thanks. --Swaggette (talk) 02:30, 16 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, looking at the section in question I would agree with you. Since the entire section is unsourced, I think you could be bold and remove the section in question. Just make sure to provide a rationale in your edit summary. An even better solution would be to find reliable sources about the topic and write a more neutral, formal take on it.
In terms of templates, you're probably looking for Template:POV or Template:POV section. Guidance on how to use them is on the pages of each template. If you'd like to discuss it further, you can open a new section on the article's talk page to get the opinions of others. Rambley (talk / contribs) 02:41, 16 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia page question

Hi , can you elaborate on the comments that you left on my draft for PIGPEN hardcore band new article? This is my first time writing an article and I'm still trying to figure it all out. Thanks PIGPEN666 (talk) 06:15, 16 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, in order to establish the subject as notable you need to provide a range of reliable, secondary, independent sources that cover the subject in significant depth. The article currently does not have these. Rambley (talk / contribs) 06:18, 16 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Xiu Mutha Fuckin' Xiu: Vol. 1

Hello, Rambley,

Thank you for creating Xiu Mutha Fuckin' Xiu: Vol. 1.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

May not meet the WP:NMUSIC criteria and currently a case of WP:TOOSOON?

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Bastun}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Hi there, I’m a bit confused by this; the article cites multiple reliable, in-depth reviews about the album as well as information about its announcement, singles, etc. I agree it can be expanded a bit more but I think it establishes notability sufficiently. More reviews will likely come out today or in the next couple days. How does this fail WP:NMUSIC to you? Rambley (talk / contribs) 15:58, 16 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Bastun Hey, still looking for guidance. Thanks. Rambley (talk / contribs) 11:49, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rambley. The WP:NMUSIC guideline outlines what counts for notability. The album (and the vast majority of articles on albums that are created on the day of an album's release) doesn't appear to meet any of the listed criteria #2 to #7. An argument could be made that it meets the coverage guideline in #1: The recording has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent from the musician or ensemble who created it. but note that also lists an exception: Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about the recording, and all advertising that mentions the recording, including manufacturers' advertising. Looking through the references, I'm seeing minor magazines that have re-published the same content, clearly from a press release. Most of the articles are short, use the same quotes, and just include a track listing. So #1, for me, isn't satisfied either. This is why I said it was WP:TOOSOON - in a few weeks, the album may have charted, in few months, it may have won an award or two. But for me, now, it's non-notable. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 15:47, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

While I can understand the note about press releases, those sources are only cited for information relating to the album's announcement, release, singles, etc. I would've thought the variety of critical reviews from either sources widely considered reliable (Pitchfork, The Quietus, Clash) and sources I have assessed to be reliable in this context (Flood, Treble Zine, Bandcamp Daily, etc) to be enough to satisfy the criterion. I know the article is a bit short, but I am still working on expanding it content-wise. Rambley (talk / contribs) 15:59, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, and no problem. Work away, I won't be nominating it for deletion or anything any time soon! BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 17:15, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 13:20:18, 22 January 2026 for assistance on AfC submission by Ftg3plus4

Regarding my rejected submission "Live at the Greek Theatre 1982":

The rejection reason is "This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject."

I'm not clear on what sort of coverage is needed to make the subject qualify. I'd think that the AllMusic review alone would meet that condition, and it is one of two articles referenced. That doesn't seem to me to be any less coverage than many album-related articles have.

Can you give a couple examples from other album-related articles of what is needed, and which would be similar to what's in the bulk of other album-related articles? Ftg3plus4 (talk) 13:20, 22 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple reliable secondary sources are required to establish notability; we often look for three or more. Discogs is not a reliable source & the DVD source is a primary or self-published source. More articles discussing the album are needed in order to show it is notable. If you'd like some examples of articles that surpass that notability requirement, take a look at Quaristice, Exai or Forever Howlong; all of which I worked on. While drafts are not expected to have the huge amounts of sources these articles, it should give you a good idea of the type of sources we expect for album-related articles. Rambley (talk / contribs) 13:42, 22 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Can you point out a few specific sources/citations in those articles that would be good examples of what you'd say my article is missing? Or does it just need a couple more sources on the level of, say, the AllMusic review? BTW, the Discogs & DVD sources are just there to support some specific details, not to "establish notability." But I'll skip citing them if that would be an improvement.Ftg3plus4 (talk) 15:33, 22 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
The Discogs source should be removed entirely, it is not reliable. The articles I've linked all have news coverage about their announcement, their release, information about singles and many reviews from a variety of reliable sources, all of which establishes they are notable. You need to add more reliable, secondary sources that cover the topic in significant depth. Rambley (talk / contribs) 22:46, 22 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I have added more sources to the article and no longer reference Discogs or the DVD itself. I also removed references to the Japan 2CD as I couldn't find a source for it other than Discogs. Overall the article should be much improved now. Thanks for your input. Ftg3plus4 (talk) 13:23, 26 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from David.Polakovic (12:02, 31 January 2026)

Hello, I made my account not only to help this awesome project that Wikipedia sure is, but also to find answer to one thing. Some time between May of 2021 and November 2023 I read the wiki article about text adventure game named Zork. There was and still is a sentence saying that the name Zork was derived from MIT jargon for unfinished program. The source for the article today is New Zork Times, The - Vol. IV No. 1 page 7 where truly this information is confirmed by games' creator in interview. However, in the time interval I was reading it, I ended up on source Down From the Top of Its Game: The Story of Infocom, Inc. by Hector Briceno, Wesley Chao and others, which does not have this information at all. I checked the edits from that time but I haven't found any mention of this source. My questions: -Can the edit history be manipulated? Some edits just deleted? -Maybe I missed something. Is there any other way how to check the edits except for manually checking each entry? --David.Polakovic (talk) 12:02, 31 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I just finished an article and have submitted it for review. Do you have access to it and if so what comments can you make? --Feilxpo29 (talk) 00:54, 6 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any relation to Draft:Alex Pudmann? Both your draft and the linked draft feature the same subject and the latter was created by the article's subject themselves. In any case, it is best to work on the one draft rather than creating and submitting multiple versions. Rambley[who?] 01:06, 6 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Rembly, I did both of these drafts that you are talking about. I'm not related to Alex Pudmann in any way. I feel that he should have a Wikipedia page, as he is rising star in the classical music world. The last draft that you saw is the updated and final version. ~2026-81100-0 (talk) 01:25, 6 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Please make sure you're signed in whenever making edits. In any case, you should just be editing the main draft for Pudmann and resubmit it when you're ready. Rambley[who?] 09:12, 6 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:AFCREVIEW, though it will likely be declined as a duplicate of the other draft about Pudmann. I would recommend you just edit that one as it's about the same subject. Rambley[who?] 20:10, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

The Wilted EP

Hello, @Rambley. I noticed that you added a "sources exist" tag to the Wilted EP article, and I am contacting you because I am having difficulty finding such sources. I searched for major charts and reviews, but I could only find niche secondary sources, namely POWERMETAL.de, Swiss Metal Magazine, and rocknloadmag. I would appreciate your feedback on the quality of the sources cited and any material you may have found. Thank you in advance. Jvbpds (talk) 20:28, 8 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

[1], [2], [3]. There exists a review from Metal Hammer as well, though it is print only. [4] could also be of some use. Rambley[who?] 20:41, 8 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much! I took notes on all the sources and even found the online version of Metal Hammer magazine that you mentioned (issue 410) and have already purchased it. I also intend to use it as the basis for the "critical reception" section that I will be creating. Regarding the references I cited, do you think it would be worthwhile to add any of them? Thank you for your help! Jvbpds (talk) 00:11, 9 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
All of the sources you've cited in the article currently are considered reliable (which is good!) and are fine for the purposes of writing about the album's release history and etc, though press releases and announcements don't help towards notability (WP:PRSOURCE); reviews do. In regards to the other sources you mentioned in your first message, I had a look and none of them have clear editorial policies or lists of writers. While they may be okay for the occasional fact if you can't back a claim up with any other source, I would still avoid them if you can.
In addition, check out WP:RSMUSIC; it hosts a huge list of music-related sources that are considered reliable and unreliable by the community. Very helpful for writing future music-related articles. Rambley[who?] 00:24, 9 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect! Then I will only use the sources you indicated to create the critical reception section. Thank you so much for your support! Jvbpds (talk) 00:30, 9 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Good evening, @Rambley! I added the critical reception and removed the tag you had put on the article The Wilted EP. I would appreciate it if you could review the section. Jvbpds (talk) 03:13, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good, though I'd potentially revise it a little bit to make it slightly more neutral. Maybe I'm nitpicking, though. Rambley[who?] 13:35, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I agree. Although the reviews talk about success, I think I ended up overemphasizing this point, which makes the section less neutral. I will make corrections later! Jvbpds (talk) 19:25, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Richard Lépine (20:53, 10 February 2026)

Hello, my name is Richard Lépine. I’m a retired academic based in the USA. I’m a frequent and eclectic “recreational” Wikipedia user. For the first time, I encountered a footnote that displayed in red font, and when I looked at it, I found that the citation had the wrong title: I was able to find the correct one by searching the author name. I am ready to learn how to take the next step in editing. --Richard Lépine (talk) 20:53, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Richard Lépine Help:Introduction is a good start. Rambley[who?] 20:59, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Robinxafro (21:35, 14 February 2026)

I would like to create a page about a musical artist who has produced notable music and has publicly available information. --Robinxafro (talk) 21:35, 14 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from WalterFish (15:18, 15 February 2026)

I am writing about a school district, Norristown Area School District. I want to use the student-ran and operated but school-affiliated newspaper known as the Wingspan. Since the school allows them to host meetings in the building, could that count as a conflict of interest, despite negative articles made about the district? --WalterFish (talk) 15:18, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Good topic topicon

Hello Rambley! While looking at your userpage, I noticed that your good topic topicon is broken. It links to Wikipedia:Featured topics/Black Country, New Road studio albums, which does not exist. I believe you were trying to link to Wikipedia:Featured topics/Black Country, New Road discography instead? Toadspike [Talk] 18:48, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for noticing, because I sure didn't! Should be fixed now. Rambley[who?] 18:54, 16 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
