Also, really nice work on the Only Yesterday article so far! If you're interested in working on Ghibli-related articles on Wikipedia, I would suggest joining the task force. There are a few other editors who've worked in these areas signed up there — it has been dormant for a while, but that, of course, can change. @TechnoSquirrel69 ahhhhhhh thank you!!! ;-;
thank you for cleaning up the page too! i've mostly been focused on kurosawa (trying to do more with drunken angel and dersu uzala) but i plan to continue working on only yesterday + other articles somewhat, it'd be nice to coordinate more with yourself (and others). please bear with me and my mistakes!! よろしくお願いします!!--Plifal (talk) 05:27, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Remsense, i think i understand the implementation for the policy, it will just likely take me a while to pick up where i missed it and incorporate it more. as such i'm very appreciative of the time you take to fix such mistakes. the only thing i will query is the mdy format, but that's not a big deal! thank you for reaching out and offering your support!!-Plifal (talk) 01:30, 1 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Lucy Sheen (June 12)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by WeWake was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The comment the reviewer left was:
Please note that biographies requires significant coverage about the individual or subject in several independent, reliable sources. For this purpose, interviews, passing mention, or coverage of something they participated in may not meet the criteria if the sources are not about the individual itself.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Drunken Angel

Hi there. You've been very active on this article recently - thanks. Could you sort out a couple of discrepancies it now has? Firstly, you added the 'Use British English' template a few weeks ago, which is fine with me as a Brit, although I haven't reread the article to check for British useage. Secondly, however, it also has 'Use mdy dates'. As far as I know, it's not a rule but generally people use dmy dates with British English. There are now some date formatting discrepancies:

  • Infobox says "27 April 1948"
  • Lead and Production say "March 10 1948", without a comma after the 10
  • Theatrical says "April 27 1948", without a comma after the 27
  • Bibliography entries use mdy format

I'll leave it to you. I don't mind whichever way you decide (with a slight preference for British + dmy throughout). Masato.harada (talk) 16:07, 15 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Masato.harada, sure! i just used what was already present (with mistakes arising from habit). iirc the prose was inconsistent beforehand so i decided to use british english since i default to that, and mdy was used so i'm planning to stick to that too, whereas e.g. high and low (1963) used inconsistent engvar and dmy dates so i defaulted to breng and dmy, and rhapsody in august (1991) used ameng and mdy so i'm defaulting to that. apologies for the inconsistencies as they occur. i plan to clean it up, but since i'm going through the article to write it thoroughly, it's not a priority for me. equally if you would like to change it i don't have any qualms about it, engvar and dates don't matter much to me so long as it's generally consistent and agreed upon. thank you for your oversight!!!--Plifal (talk) 17:03, 15 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Kpop Demon Hunters

Hi Plifal; Thanks for your ping about High and Low. You have mentioned an interest in Japanese film on Wikipedia and I'm wondering if this might extend to Korean-oriented film titles. I've placed a new nomination to KPop Demon Hunters for FAC as a popular culture film. I'm wondering if it is worth my asking if you might add a review to the FAC review for this film, and then I'd offer to do the review for your current FAC nomination or one of your GA nominations after you are done. Does it sound interesting? ErnestKrause (talk) 03:15, 21 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Some Advice on Scandal (1950)

Greetings fellow editor. I have noticed your nomination for Kurosawa's 1950 film Scandal, and have given it a brief glance. There is an issue that you should note, Rotten Tomatoes' consensus is well below the threshold of 15 reviews and should be removed from the article. I have come across this issue before when being reviewed in the past, having only a few reviews there does not provide an accurate consensus of the film, so I advice to search for different sources. If you have additional questions about this and other articles, let me know. Paleface Jack (talk) 17:32, 2 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Paleface Jack oh, thank you! i wasn't aware of this actually. is there a guideline/rfc that you can point me to? should have fixed the issue now. thanks again!--Plifal (talk) 10:10, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I would have to look at that again. I had to remove the citation from Begotten since there was only 10 reviews it was polling from. The same issue is applied to Scandal because of the limited reviews on Rotten Tomatoes really does not show, one way or the other, the films critical response. Paleface Jack (talk) 16:33, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Data from movie review aggregators

Hi Plifal! Regarding your recent message, I have a question about how I should go about adding/updating Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic data for movie articles. Do you recommend I follow the basic wording found at WP:AGG (its examples are below), while not using the templates (this one and this one) to do so? I just want to make sure I'm understanding things correctly!

  • On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 41% based on 224 reviews, with an average score of 5.4/10. The site's critical consensus reads, "Though it begins with promise, Hancock suffers from a flimsy narrative and poor execution."
  • At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average rating, the film has received an average score of 49 out of 100, based on 37 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".

Thanks for your help! Null morpheme (talk) 22:46, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Null morpheme, it should be down to what works for the article! WP:AGG is a user essay, meaning it's the opinion of only one user, and can reflect best practice and can not. in general i would always encourage using prose over the templates, but would avoid using phrasing such as "mixed or average reviews" when only referring to one review aggregator website. you can include the information in any way you think best suits your needs, don't feel bound by that specific wording (i didn't at high and low) :) --Plifal (talk) 23:31, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Seven Samurai

Thanks for your work on Seven Samurai! It is mostly B-class. However (and this may seem nit-picky), there is a {{cn}} tag in the "Remakes" section that needs to be addressed. There should not be any unaddressed maintenance tags in a B-class article, otherwise it is not B-class. That one line either needs a source or it should come out (rather than assess it as C-Class). I looked at Alamat ng 7 kilabot for a possible source, which was not helpful. The only source there mentioning Seven Samauri was not citeable, which is OK for that article (as Start-class), but would not be OK for a B-class article. ButlerBlog (talk) 14:24, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Butlerblog, oh apologies, i pre-empted myself a little bit. i was actually searching for a source when i received this message. i decided to excise it, i can't find any references to it and it's probably undue anyway. should i see it come up in a better source i'll re-add it.--Plifal (talk) 14:31, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
No worries - and no apologies necessary! I just happened to notice it, and I thought it was more constructive to reach out than it would have been to revert or re-class the article. Good work on the article! ButlerBlog (talk) 15:34, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

In your most recent edit, you added the sentence "This occurred until the Toei Company—the studio most associated with the genre—continued to see a high profit margin until the releases of Yojimbo (1961), Sanjuro (1962), and the Japanese release of The Magnificent Seven in the early 1960s."[1] I'm not sure I understand it - should it start "This continued, since the Toei Company..."? Also, there are too many "until"s at present. I'll let you sort it out.

Masato.harada, apologies, a lapse in my proofreading when recently editing it down. the newest edit should rectify any misunderstandings.--Plifal (talk) 10:28, 3 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
