Question from Pommpotte (13:01, 25 January 2026)
- Note: Pommpotte's mentor SignedInteger is away.
Hi, I have a suggestion for an edit of an article, but I can't do it myself and wonder if it's appropriate :
Donald Trump, even though he didn't invite my country, Belgium, to his Board Of Peace, it was written in the official text next to members of that group, because the administration has mistaken Belgium with Belarus
Link to the article from Belga, the Belgian press agency : https://www.belganewsagency.eu/us-mistakenly-lists-belgium-as-participant-in-trumps-board-of-peace --Pommpotte (talk) 13:01, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for your question! It might be worth including as a note somewhere just to clarify that Belgium is not actually part of the Board despite being in some official sources. I suggest posting this to the talk page so you can discuss this with editors on that page. If you cannot edit the page yourself, others may be able to assist if it's determined that it's appropriate to include. Me, Myself & I (☮) (talk) 21:00, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
I can't figure out how to send the modification request, I have 0 knowledge in informatics and I need to use HTML formulas or something, so if you find time to ask that for me that would be super nice — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pommpotte (talk • contribs) 22:57, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, I'll put this down as a reminder to help you with some basic wikicode templates. Could you confirm what article you are looking at – Board of Peace? Me, Myself & I (☮) (talk) 03:42, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
Hi, yes exactly --Pommpotte (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-68188-0 (talk) 18:09, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
- For future reference if you look at the top of the talk page there should be an option: "Add topic". After clicking this, you will have a text box to write in the title of your post and your post content. You should be able to type normally without needing to add too much wiki code by selecting the "Visual" option (There will be the option to use source code if you ever want to switch back). You can copy what you wrote here into the request If you'd like to test it out Me, Myself & I (☮) (talk) 05:38, 14 February 2026 (UTC)

Editing the European Science Foundation page
Hi! I noticed you edited the European Science Foundation page some time ago! This institution has considerably evolved since the 2016, and the page has long-standing issues with neutrality and sourcing (incomplete history, and limited coverage of current activities). Per WP:COI, I work for the ESF (!) so instead of editing directly, I am proposing a complete, neutral rewrite in my sandbox for community review and, if there is consensus, for an uninvolved editor to implement: User:BaselineFindings/sandbox
All contributions welcome! BaselineFindings (talk) 17:25, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for being transparent about the COI. I write this with the caveat that I might not be the best person to reach out to since I'm primarily a gnome that works on manual of style edits (such as formatting that uses minimal bolding, punctuation going before citations, etc.). It might be best to integrate some of the sources rather than replacing the article as a whole. I second the other editor's comments about using non-primary sources; avoid too many external links within the article text, especially to primary sources. I do find LLMs rather unsuited for citation work, so I strongly advise not using them to format citations. Me, Myself & I (☮) (talk) 05:56, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your feedback! A great learning curve this is! I took up your advice as well as the other editor's, and made (substantial) edits to the page instead of replacing the whole article - I however took the liberty of taking out non-neutral paragraphs that were not backed up by relevant sources (is this ok?). I also added non-primary sources (the remaining primary sources are mostly related to current activity description) and took out the external links to primary sources. As you seem to be gnome with longstanding wikipedia experience :) could you confirm that the process is correct? Also, if as an external and non-involved reader the content no longer reads as promotional, could you remove the maintenance template to the page? BaselineFindings (talk) 16:39, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
- In terms of removing content, it is generally acceptable to remove unsourced incorrect information, though I will have to double check the discussion to see if any other issues were raised. There are a few issues that may need some further editing. I notice a number of references about various collaborations or supportive relationships come from the other organizations being mentioned, which suggest that the example may not be sufficiently notable if it hasn't been covered in more secondary sources. Question from Kehinde R (09:35, 13 February 2026)
Hello good day, how do I include citations? --Kehinde R (talk) 09:35, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! There are a lot of guides that you can refer to. The basic idea is to select a reliable source and then provide enough information about that source so people can find it in the future if they need to check the information. For example you can use simple wiki code like this: <ref>Author. Name of your reference. Link to your reference<ref> to add a reference to any text.
