Hello, welcome to my talk page!

If you want to leave a message, please do it at the bottom, as a new section, for better formatting. You can do that by simply pressing the plus sign (+) or "new section" on the top of this page. And don't forget to sign your messages with four tildes, like this: ~~~~

Attention: I prefer to keep discussions unfragmented. If you leave a comment for me here, I will most likely respond to it on this same page—my talk page—as an effort to keep the entire conversation in one place. By the same token, if I leave a comment on your talk page, please respond to it there. Remember, we can use our watchlist and topic subscriptions to keep track of when responses are made. At the same time, feel free to send an alert to me on this page about a comment you have left elsewhere.

Thank you!

Question from Bayjidalam (08:10, 8 October 2025)

I have recently created a draft article titled Draft:Islampidia.org . I would greatly appreciate it if you could review it and provide feedback on:

  • Neutrality and adherence to Wikipedia’s NPOV guidelines
  • Reliability and appropriateness of references
Hello! I have had a quick look at the draft, the major issue I see is that most of the references used come directly from the organisation responsible for the website. This is not prohibited, but if you can not show that the website or the organisation responsible for it is notable using independent references, the draft is not going to be accepted when you submit it for review. Question from Growpath (16:14, 9 October 2025)

Hello, thank you for being my mentor! I have had a go at the Richard Siddoway Bagnall page to make sure that I understand the basics. I'm also planning to edit a new page that is linked from that page: Vale of Derwent Naturalists' Field Club. In both cases, I have some research and have a lot of primary sources including: newspaper clips (jpg) and documents (pdf) that I have scanned myself - these are all from 1880-1914 so I don't see any copyright issues. My question is this: how do I link to such sources once they have been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons? I understand photos, but the above sources presumably cannot be linked the same way. Thanks! --Growpath (talk) 16:14, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! If you are planning on using the documents only as sources, you do not need to upload them to Wikimedia Commons. Help:Referencing for beginners can help you with how to go about citing your sources correctly. For any files that you do wish to link to in an article, add commons: to the start of the name and link to it the same way as you would for a file hosted directly on Wikipedia, e.g. commons:File:cat.png. Question from Xp enter49 (09:26, 13 October 2025)

I would like to know why {{Short description}} should not be included in list of award articles, discography articles? --Xp enter49 (talk) 09:26, 13 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Some pages do not need a short description. As it says in WP:SDNONE: some article titles are sufficiently self-explanatory to English language speakers worldwide that a descriptive annotation would not be helpful. IffyChat -- 13:15, 13 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from ElenaHorikawa (15:06, 14 October 2025)

Hello Iffy,

I had a small question about linking to other Wikipedia pages, and linking to pages in other languages.

I was editing an article about a Portuguese author, who won a literary prize. The name of the prize is Grande Prémio de Conto Camilo Castelo Branco, and wikipedia suggested I add a link to "Camilo Castelo Branco", which is the name of the author after whom the prize is named. I accepted the proposed link, because it was correct. You can of course question the usefulness of such a link. It is like linking a mention of the Nobel prize to a page about Alfred Nobel. Much more useful would be a link to a page about the Nobel prize (when was it created, who has won it in the past, etc.). In the case of the Portuguese literary prize, there is a page, in Portuguese, about the prize and I think that link should be included, either instead of the link which Wikipedia suggested, or in addition. Could you give me some guidance on how this is to be done? I have sometimes seen links to pages in other languages and they seem to have, in square brackets, the abbreviation of the language, e.g. [PT]. And can I keep both links, i.e. to the English page about the Portugese author, and to the Portuguese page about the prize?

For reference, the page I was editing is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ana_Margarida_de_Carvalho

The Portuguese page about the prize is https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grande_Prémio_de_Conto_Camilo_Castelo_Branco

And this is the link suggested by Wikipedia (to a page in English) and which I accepted: https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grande_Prémio_de_Conto_Camilo_Castelo_Branco

Apologies for the long letter, but any guidance would be appreciated.

EM --ElenaHorikawa (talk) 15:06, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I believe the template you are looking for is {{Interlanguage link}}. For your example, you would use the template like this: {{Interlanguage link|Grande Prémio de Conto Camilo Castelo Branco|pt|Grande Prémio de Conto Camilo Castelo Branco}}, which gives you: Grande Prémio de Conto Camilo Castelo Branco [pt]. Question from AbtBertolotti (20:03, 22 October 2025)

Hi, I would like to contest an edit reversion issue. I am the founder and manager of the About Bertolotti's website that is dedicated to providing peer-reviewed information to patients. All the necessary references have been provided to the changes of the Bertolotti's Syndrome page given the fact that they did not have the most up to date information. I have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences and have been dealing with Bertolotti's Syndrome for over 5 years. I have read all the latest research and interfaced with patients and doctors in the field over the past 2 years. You are welcome to reach out for more information. --AbtBertolotti (talk) 20:03, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I see that you have re-inserted the disputed content. If any editors continue to take issue with your edits, the best way to deal with content disputes is to discuss the issues on the talk page of the article in question and try to come to a consensus, in this case Talk:Bertolotti's syndrome. When discussing your proposed changes, focus on the content and the high-quality medical sources rather than your own expertise. Note: Wikipedia's username policy does not allow shared/corporate accounts; please request a username change and clearly identify any conflict of interests you may have. Once you have adequately disclosed the required information, you can use the Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard to make an edit request for the articles you are tasked with updating. For updating logos, there is guidance at Wikipedia:Uploading images and Wikipedia:Non-free content on how to upload the new logo and meet licensing (or fair use) requirements, but for replacing the logo in an article, you will need to use an edit request. Hey there, how do I upload my image to my Wikipedia page? --Sean Conroy Real (talk) 17:48, 17 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! If you have a freely licensable photo to upload (such as a photo you've taken yourself), you can do so at the Wikimedia Commons using the Commons Upload Wizard. If the photo you want to upload is not freely licensable, you can upload it here on Wikipedia through the Wikipedia Upload Wizard, but you will have to provide a rationale for using it (it will guide you through it, don't worry!). If the photo you want to use already exists on either Wikipedia or the Commons, you can place it on your page by inserting [[File:REPLACE THIS WITH THE TITLE OF YOUR IMAGE.PNG]] where you want the picture in the source editor, and replacing all that capitalized text with the name of your image. Question from SemD642 on User talk:SemD642 (09:39, 17 December 2025)

Hi sumanuil. I recently saw that you removed a part on the 'talk' section. This is a page for talking about a page about changes. The reason this exists is so that people can show facts to eachother and discuss if such facts need to be added to a page. But you, just delete my critique based on your opinion on the matter. I quoted the original report around his autopsy and also mentioned a routine technique used by police officers. The whole reasonI put it in the talk page was so that it could be discussed and people could elaborate on why such info is or isn't in the article. Please revert the removing of the page or give a good reason why your personal opinion on the matter is more important the factual evidence. --SemD642 (talk) 09:39, 17 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

We rely on reliable sources to interpret the content of primary sources, it is not our place to second guess the conclusions those sources make as this violates our Wikipedia:No original research policy. Hi there! Hoping to add some new sources to Tom Malinowski's page. Wasn't sure if I should jump right in with edits or if it would make sense to work with someone at Wikipedia.

Question from Ankusnoo on Rob Reiner (06:14, 31 December 2025)

What is the talk page? I wanted to edit an image that I feel is inappropriate to include (under the Death section, the first thing shown is an image of his son who murdered him, at an awards show – I feel this is in very poor taste) and it has a note saying “please do not change this image without consensus at the talk page”. --Ankusnoo (talk) 06:14, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Talk pages can be found by pressing the "Talk" button directly below the article's name. Alternatively, you can Add "Talk:" to the article name in the URL. For example, the article Euonyma has its talk page at Talk:Euonyma. Youy can find out more about talk pages at Help:Talk pages. IffyChat -- 08:42, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Jiles3rd (05:20, 1 January 2026)

May I create a page for my son? --Jiles3rd (talk) 05:20, 1 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Writing articles about family members is strongly discouraged, as you may be perceived to have a conflict of interest. If you believe your son is notable and you think you can write a neutral, sourced article, you can use the Wikipedia:Article Wizard to create a draft theough the Wikipedia:Articles for Creation process, allowing independent editors to review your work. how do I make a Wikipedia page on alien stage --Charliebeemoonie (talk) 19:00, 6 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

To create a new page on Wikipedia, you can use the Wikipedia:Article wizard. This will create a draft page, which you can submit for review as part of the Wikipedia:Articles for creation process. Help:Your first article has more information on creating articles on Wikipedia. IffyChat -- 20:10, 6 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
