Question from Gshaunn on User:Gshaunn (16:56, 3 February 2026)

Hi ! Where do I find “articles for creation” to submit a draft like the one below:

George S. Sliman is an American collegiate athletics administrator, public-sector manager, and former business owner based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is best known for his tenure as Director of Athletics at Carlow University, where he led a multi-decade expansion of the university’s athletic programs, as well as for his earlier work in public housing management and urban redevelopment in the City of Pittsburgh.

Early career and public service

Sliman worked for the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh, where he served as manager of Northview Heights, one of the city’s largest public housing communities. In this role, he oversaw day-to-day operations, facilities management, and coordination of resident services.

He later worked for the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh, contributing to major civic and economic development projects in the city. His work was associated with large-scale initiatives connected to PNC Park, Heinz Field, and redevelopment efforts in Market Square.

Hospitality and business

In addition to his public-sector work, Sliman was involved in the hospitality industry in Pittsburgh. He served as president and co-owner of Margaritaville, Inc., which operated the Margaritaville restaurant and bar in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood. The establishment was a well-known venue during the 1980s and 1990s and was sold in 1999.

Question from Fouman (08:26, 11 February 2026)

Hi

I would like to add a list of the soundtrack to an existing wikipedia page. Is this helpful or shall I create a new page for that? --Fouman (talk) 08:26, 11 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome! That is a great question.
For the sake of keeping information together, it often makes sense to have the soundtrack listed with whatever media it goes with. GGOTCC 05:00, 13 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@MightyCorrector Hello, and welcome! Great question.
Help:Referencing for beginners is more in depth, but you want to click on the "cite" button on the top of your screen and fill out the resulting prompts. Does this help? GGOTCC 04:48, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
yeah it does thanks! though, lets say, for example, you'd like to reference a facebook post affirming your claim, do you think it'd be valid and do we have to make an archive of that post MightyCorrector (talk) 05:56, 16 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Article improvement suggestion

Hello @GGOTCC. Your article is a great start! To make it even better, consider adding more references to reliable sources. This helps verify the information and improves the article's quality. Check out this Wikipedia's guidelines on reliable sources for more details. Manda7979 (talk) 19:00, 17 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Inlovewithtruth (01:54, 18 February 2026)

How do I have the NOTABLE PEOPLE section of the following page corrected?

Date retrieved: 18 February 2026 01:49 UTC Permanent link: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Free_people_of_color&oldid=1338341657 Primary contributors: revision history statistics Page Version ID: 1338341657

The issue is that in the first paragraph Free People Of Color is defined as NOT BEING ENSLAVED.

However, most of the people mentioned in the section of immediately identified as BORN ENSLAVED. --Inlovewithtruth (talk) 01:54, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome!
You are free to edit the page yourself, as long as you intend to improve the article and source new information to reliable sources. That being said, I am unsure what the issue here is. The term "Free person of color" defined in the article is applied to people who were not enslaved at that certain point in time, not that they were never enslaved. For instance, someone such as Frederick Douglass is often referred to as a "free man" as he was a Black/African-American man who escaped slavery. GGOTCC 02:39, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from SkillTownDaug (18:59, 18 February 2026)

Hello! I'm writing a page that is a biography of a living person. I want to site several assignments this person had during their career. When I have reached out to institutions, I have gotten confirmation via e-mail and even old letters congratulating him for landing the position. At this time, these letters are not archived anywhere that the general reader could find with research. Can I site letters and e-mail? Would I need to make those citations in-line the way the APA suggests? That would really help me move forward . --SkillTownDaug (talk) 18:59, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! That is a great question.
As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia should generally cite reliable, secondary, published sources (WP:42). While these letters are very interesting and great artifacts, they should not be cited if no one else is able to access them, as no one has access to your email or library archive to check the information. In addition, information should generally come from published secondary sources. The process of professionally publishing content involves fact-checking and reviews, which helps filter out incorrect/trivial information. As this is about a living person, it is also important to make sure each claim can be reasonably relied upon and easily verified. The issue with primary sources (such as letters) is that information in them can often be incorrect, as either the writer was misinformed or the situation changed. WP:BLPSOURCES has more information for your exact situation.
That being said, there is no ban on citing primary sources. For instance, I cited a letter when writing USS Savannah (1842) (ref 18). The difference was that the letter was later published (so anyone with the book can check it) and elaborated upon information from secondary sources. If you have a different source that makes the same claims, then you could just cite that!
Does this help? If you are interested in doing original research into his person, then Wikipedia is not the venue to share your writings. That is fine! Perhaps your research could be published as an article in a magazine about similar topics? GGOTCC 19:22, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much. You are a patient and wonderful teacher. And prompt! SkillTownDaug (talk) 21:19, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
You flatter me (but truth be told, I wound up checking Wikipedia at just the right time)! Happy editing, and feel free to ask me any more questions! GGOTCC 05:22, 19 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Bear yup yup (20:13, 22 February 2026)

I want to create a biography, ho --Bear yup yup (talk) 20:13, 22 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome!
The best thing to start with is to review Help:Getting started and in your case, Help:Your first article. You can create a draft article in your sandbox (User:Bear yup yup/Sandbox) or a draft under the topic name (Draft:Name of person). Once that is done, you can submit it to Articles for Creation for review. If you want to write about a living person, it is important to make sure each claim is verified and supported by a source! You can read more here: Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons.
Does this help? GGOTCC 20:16, 22 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
