Roman Britain

Hi there, I was able to partially fix a ref error at Roman Britain, but it's still not displaying properly... it's at "Chichester," when you have a sec to take a look. Thanks, Jessicapierce (talk) 03:09, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing this out. Fixed now. The template requires "p=", not "page=". Dudley Miles (talk) 09:30, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing it, and for telling me what the issue was - that will help me in the future. P vs page is a fine point I had no idea about. Always more to learn! Cheers, Jessicapierce (talk) 16:06, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you today for Edmund Ætheling, introduced: "Very little is known about Edmund Ætheling, who is probably the only son of a king to have died in exile in Hungary. It was a GA when a Japanese editor asked for help getting it to a GA on Japanese Wikipedia. I saw that the article was mainly based on an unreliable source and I advised the Japanese editor not to proceed and got it delisted as a GA. After that I thought I ought to bring the article up to scratch and I think that it now covers everything said about Edmund in RSs."! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:12, 10 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Harthacnut

Sorry, I did not include a reference in my edit about a corornation. There is a reference, https://www.unofficialroyalty.com/harthacnut-king-of-denmark-and-england/ and several others, but you may have doubts about their reliability. They may all be using the same discredited source. Should the coronation be included, with a mention of any uncertainty? (I always think of these people as middle-aged. Harthacnut was about 22 at that time.) JMcC (talk) 10:59, 18 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think that if there was a contemporary source the date would have been included in Harthacnut's ODNB article. 18 June looks like a guess based on the fact that he arrived in England on 17 June and it is implausible that a coronation could have been arranged at such short notice. Edward the Confessor was crowned ten months after his accession. Dudley Miles (talk) 12:33, 18 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you today for the article, introduced (in 2022) as "an important figure in tenth-century England, but as with almost all women in this period, very little is known about her"! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:58, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Gerda. Dudley Miles (talk) 09:41, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Today something new: a 100th birthday of someone alive, György Kurtág! In 2004 I was there when he and his wife played for the Rheingau Musik Festival where he was the featured composer. They played as the 2019 DYK said, on an upright piano, - listen, the last piece was the same. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:44, 19 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Congratulations, Dudley Miles! The article you nominated, Æthelred the Unready, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best articles on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main page as Today's featured article. Keep up the great work! Cheers, Gog the Mild (talk) via FACBot (talk) 23:05, 7 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
