About Hutchison China Meditech article
Hello, @AllyD:! I noticed your warning about posting my articles on Hutchison China Meditech and Hutchison MediPharma being a COI (Conflict of Interest). Please don't misinterpret my intentions!!! I am not hired or paid by the either companies to post these articles. I am merely a student who has gained an interest in the growing pharmaceutical industry in China. I decided to post articles of Hutchison China Meditech ans well as Hutchison MediPharma purely out of the my own interest. I believe that Hutchison China Meditech may very well be on the rise to being a major player in the Chinese pharmaceutical industry, and I merely wish that others interested in this company for the same or other reasons have access to a wikipedia page containing public information regarding the company. I hope that my wikipedia page will prove to be a more convenient option of learning about Hutchison China Meditech.

Hi. Thanks for your review and suggestions. I also notice that qTrace and qTest eXplorer should be merged but as a new wiki user I'm not too sure how to do it. For the qTest eXplorer page it is a renamed product so I feel it should be mentioned since qTrace no longer exists, yet the secondary sources for qTest eXplorer are not that many. Any suggestions on how can I re-write (or merge) the two articles and remove those tags?
For the proposed deletion of qTest. It's a major product of a company, there are lots of products in same category that have wiki pages, with length at that short, so I don't know why qTest got restricted. I tried to include only historic data and relevant information that someone of interest would want to know about qTest. I also tried to include some secondary sources as possible... Not too sure how to best write article as such since I made no attempt of advertising or so...
It will be much appreciated to let me know. Thank you. Tea Nguyen (talk) 3:30, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi AllyD, I created the page, Onarbor, and would like to fix it such that it will be acceptable to be published on Wikipedia. Onarbor.com is my website and company. Our business model is based off of Kickstarter that is why I used Kickstarter's wiki page as a guide to developing our wiki page. I apologize for cutting and pasting kickstarter's page in order to create Onarbor's page. I took a break from finishing Onarbor's page before removing the blatant copyrighting without realizing that Wikipedia editors would delete it so quickly before I had a chance to finalize it. My sincere apologies, this is the 1st wikipedia page I've ever created. I've re-submitted the Onarbor page to address the copyrighting. I've removed all references that were Kickstarter-specific and changed the sentence-structure and wording to be unique to Onarbor. Hopefully this will be more in line with Wikipedia's policies. Again, I'm truly sorry about this. Thank you,

Interview invitation from a Wikipedia researcher in University of Minnesota
Hello AllyD,
I am Bowen Yu, a Ph.D. student from GroupLens Research at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Currently, we are undertaking a study about turnover (editors leaving and joining) in WikiProjects within Wikipedia. We are trying to understand the effects of member turnovers in the WikiProject group, in terms of the group performance and member interaction, with a purpose of learning how to build successful online communities in future. More details about our project can be found on this meta-wiki page.
I would like to invite you for an interview if you are interested in our study and willing to share your experience with us. The interview will be about 30 - 45 minutes via either Skype or Google Hangout. You will receive a $10 gift card as compensation afterwards.
Please reach me at bowen@cs.umn.edu if you are interested or have any questions.
Thank you,
Bowen

Maintenance template removal
Dear AllyD, thank you for the welcoming message. I used to edit and improve Wikipedia pages back in 2013,2014 and 2015. Now, I am back for my favourite hobby. Looking forward to improving more and more pages. I have read what is needed to be done, but unfortunately, cannot see why you put this. Could you be more specific? I have gone through it before deleting the Maintenance template. Checked for grammatical and other mistakes. Thank you for understanding.
New Page Patrol newsletter October 2022
Hello AllyD,

Much has happened since the last newsletter over two months ago. The open letter finished with 444 signatures. The letter was sent to several dozen people at the WMF, and we have heard that it is being discussed but there has been no official reply. A related article appears in the current issue of The Signpost. If you haven't seen it, you should, including the readers' comment section.
Awards: Barnstars were given for the past several years (thanks to MPGuy2824), and we are now all caught up. The 2021 cup went to John B123 for leading with 26,525 article reviews during 2021. To encourage moderate activity, a new "Iron" level barnstar is awarded annually for reviewing 360 articles ("one-a-day"), and 100 reviews earns the "Standard" NPP barnstar. About 90 reviewers received barnstars for each of the years 2018 to 2021 (including the new awards that were given retroactively). All awards issued for every year are listed on the Awards page. Check out the new Hall of Fame also.
Software news: Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have connected with WMF developers who can review and approve patches, so they have been able to fix some bugs, and make other improvements to the Page Curation software. You can see everything that has been fixed recently here. The reviewer report has also been improved.

Suggestions:
- There is much enthusiasm over the low backlog, but remember that the "quality and depth of patrolling are more important than speed".
- Reminder: an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more. (from the NPP tutorial)
- Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles. Other clean-up tasks that don't require advanced permissions can be left to other editors that routinely improve articles in these ways (creating Talk Pages, specifying projects and ratings, adding categories, etc.) Let's rely on others when it makes the most sense. On the other hand, if you enjoy doing these tasks while reviewing and it keeps you engaged with NPP (or are guiding a newcomer), then by all means continue.
- This user script puts a link to the feed in your top toolbar.
Backlog:

Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. To keep the backlog under a thousand, we have to keep reviewing at about half the recent rate!

New Pages Patrol newsletter January 2023
Hello AllyD,

- Backlog
The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to WaddlesJP13 who led with 2084 points. See this page for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.
- 2022 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. Rosguill led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone!
Minimum deletion time: The previous WP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)
New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js or vector.js file from User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js
Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide, this checklist, and spend some time at WP:RFD.
Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023
Hello AllyD,

Backlog
Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.
Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.
Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.
You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.
Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).
Reminders
- Newsletter feedback - please take this short poll about the newsletter.

Question from Coopercon22 on St Chad's College, Durham (19:37, 22 September 2024)
Question from TheLuckyGeneral (05:43, 22 July 2025)
Hi AllyD
I just looked up an old friend and discovered his entry said four children when he has five. So I edited it and discovered that my account still exists: TheLuckyGeneral.
About 15 years ago a professional colleague created an entry for me - under Laurie Patton.
Years later I attempted to update it. Short story. A recalcitrant editor kept rejecting my changes and ultimately I had my entry removed.
I’ve done a few more notable things since then. If I forwarded you an updated version would you be willing to review it and determine if it’s worthy of being reinstated?
Thanks. --TheLuckyGeneral (talk) 05:43, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
- If you draft a new biographical article, you should not place it directly as an article but instead use the WP:AFC process so that it will be reviewed. However I recommend first reading WP: AUTOBIOGRAPHY. AllyD (talk) 05:50, 22 July 2025 (UTC)
- TheLuckyGeneral, looking at the name history, I am seeing 2 debates on notability (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Laurie Patton, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Laurie Patton (Australian executive)), with the latter leading to deletion in 2020. There are also associated accounts User:InternetAU and then User:Edit0695. It would be preferable for transparency if you could continue editing as Edit0695 rather than this new User:TheLuckyGeneral account. AllyD (talk) 06:23, 22 July 2025 (UTC)

Question from WikiBossiny (01:25, 27 July 2025)
Hi ally I have a question, how does Wikipedia know everything --WikiBossiny (talk) 01:25, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi WikiBossiny, over the years thousands of volunteers have added facts to articles in their areas of interest, referenced them to outside sources and added links between articles. If Wikipedia 'knows", it is in these linked and referenced articles. AllyD (talk) 03:43, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
Question from Barbalalaika (19:29, 29 July 2025)
Hi Ally. Thank you for volunteering to be a mentor!
There is an article I've been wanting to edit for a while, the Bahia Emerald. I'd especially like to update it with new information. For this article, most information is available in the form of news articles. I haven't been able to find mentions in books or scientific literature (at least online). My question is: What is the best practice when using news articles as Wikipedia sources?
Thank you! --Barbalalaika (talk) 19:29, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- Ideally for verifiability, the news item would be one for which a URL could be included in the citation, but I appreciate that this is all too often not feasible for all news items; in that circumstance, you would provide as much as possible in the citation (publication, date, author). Before doing anything, I would suggest reviewing the existing references in the Bahia Emerald article, in case one of them already covers the additional information, in which case the citation can be reused. AllyD (talk) 19:40, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick reply! Is there anything editors should watch out for when using news articles, something in the lines of avoiding the use of sensationalist or overly local media, etc.? Barbalalaika (talk) 20:11, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- Barbalalaika, the section at WP:NEWSORG is worth reading, and you may also want to check potential sources against WP:RSPLIST. AllyD (talk) 07:56, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

Question from SU5MSJ (23:55, 1 August 2025)
Hi AlIy! I see you are my mentor. I would love your suggestions on how I can continue to improve this article. Thank you! --SU5MSJ (talk) 23:55, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi SU5MSJ, presuming you mean the Kevin McGarry (actor) article, it could benefit from deeper integration with the Wiki, by adding double square brackets to link to the article's person's college, theatre groups, etc. Beyond that, while an AFD process on something one has written can feel arduous (which is one reason it is usually better to begin by making smaller edits to improve other articles before creating one), a lot can be learned from others' comment; reviewing these may help identify further improvements. And for the future, with what future coverage of the subject's ongoing career is worthy of note. AllyD (talk) 07:22, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- Another thing to mention: please take care to (a) include edit summaries for changes, and (b) not to mark substantial changes as minor. (e.g. [1], [2]). This helps other editors reviewing changes. AllyD (talk) 07:29, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you! I will work on all these things. Appreciate it. SU5MSJ (talk) 14:18, 2 August 2025 (UTC)

- Peterfelhosi, it looks like you have been trying to do this for some time, but in an incomplete way, with a blank Draft:Peter Felhosi twice submitted to AFC review and rejected. There needs to be actual text content for a review.
- Aside from that, autobiographical articles are not encouraged. I am placing the standard notice on your Talk page. AllyD (talk) 03:53, 4 August 2025 (UTC)

Question from Letscontributes (15:08, 14 August 2025)
Hi @AllyD, thank you for offering to help new editors—it's really appreciated!
I’ve been working on a draft article about techniques used to bypass Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). It was previously declined due to tone and sourcing concerns, but I’ve since made major revisions: Removed promotional and speculative language Rewritten vague or essay-like phrasing to be neutral and factual Added inline citations from reliable sources like Forbes, Ars Technica, SecureLayer7, and official documentation from Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo – Ensured the draft follows Wikipedia’s guidelines on structure and notability
Before I resubmit it to Articles for Creation, I’d be grateful if you could take a quick look and let me know if anything still needs improvement. Your feedback would mean a lot!
Thanks again,
- Letscontributes** --Letscontributes (talk) 15:08, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Letscontributes, leaving aside other editors' concerns about use of LLMs to draft articles and Talk page comments, my own first comments on Draft:2FABypass (2)Two Factor Authentication Bypass would relate to the quality of the references offered in the draft: (1) they are predominantly blogs, and (2) they are "raw URLs" rather than being wrapped in citation templates to express who is saying this and where, etc. . See WP:CITE. AllyD (talk) 19:37, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, AllyD I appreciate you looking over my draft and giving me your thoughts.
- Using the correct citation templates provided in WP:CITE, I have now gone over the entire article and fixed all citation formatting to conform to Wikipedia's requirements. The source, author (if available), publication date, and access date are now prominently displayed in each reference.
- Although some of the sources are blogs, I have made sure they are from trustworthy cybersecurity companies (like Ping Identity, SecureLayer7, and NephoSec) and are used to bolster technical explanations rather than claims of notability. For added visibility, I've included articles from well-known publications that detail actual instances of 2FA bypass techniques, such as Forbes, Infosecurity Magazine, and Yahoo Finance.
- I truly value your advice and will be pleased to make any additional changes that are required. Again, thank you! Letscontributes (talk) 01:25, 15 August 2025 (UTC)

- i wanted to add an infobox to their discography Bbencede (talk) 22:23, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- Well, you could add an Infobox artist discography but I would suggest this is not appropriate at this point. An Infobox is meant to summarise the information in an article's text. A lot of editors here don't like them as they detract from the actual article. In this case, with only some recent releases, I doubt an Infobox would add anything, but would merely squeeze the article making it more difficult for a reader. Hello ,
How do I begin writing a biography of someone ? --Benedipete (talk) 04:30, 27 August 2025 (UTC)
- Benedipete, creating a whole new article isn't where I would choose to start but once you have the necessary references to demonstrate their notability you can follow these guidelines: WP:YFA. AllyD (talk) 06:01, 27 August 2025 (UTC)
Looking for a writer for biography.
Hello ,
I have an article and I am looking for a writer / editor .
would someone be interested in in writing it for me? Benedipete (talk) 04:46, 27 August 2025 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is a volunteer project where individual editors write about topics of interest to them, not a place for commissioned articles. I am placing the standard conflict-of-interest notice on your Talk page, as it may help explain further. AllyD (talk) 06:07, 27 August 2025 (UTC)

I have an image for the Medora Musical, How do I add it to the page. --Boeing777xPilot (talk) 02:28, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Boeing777xPilot, I am a bit confused: your user page says this is an alternate account of Boeing747Pilot and I notice that account previously placed images in articles a few months ago, for example in this edit? Anyway, that edit can provide an example of how to insert an image into Medora Musical, after you upload it using the upload wizard. AllyD (talk) 02:57, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
Question from JoyfulFinance (22:57, 2 September 2025)
Hi Ally,
I represent Happy Money, a financial technology company. I’ve compiled independent, reliable sources for a potential article.
I’d value your input on whether the subject meets notability standards and how best to approach working with a writer or editor. I want to ensure everything complies with Wikipedia’s neutrality and verifiability guidelines. Thank you in advance for your guidance!
JoyfulFinance (talk) 22:57, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- @JoyfulFinance Your username is against Wikipedia policy, and you are generally not permitted to write an article about yourself or the company you directly represent. Electricmemory (talk) 23:10, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- I do not intend to write the article about the company. I'm looking for an editor's help to do that according to Wikipedia's policies. Any guidance you can offer would be much appreciated! JoyfulFinance (talk) 23:12, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- No Wikipedia editor is going to write you an article about your company, either, as that is also against policy, and the subject is not notable to begin with. Electricmemory (talk) 23:14, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- JoyfulFinance, while appreciative that you wish to stay within Wikipedia policies, I'd agree with Electricmemory's points above. I can't see circumstances where another editor would be prepared to work on the article that you seek, outside of circumstances that would fall under WP:COI. (I also note that you also asked your question on another user's Talk page.) AllyD (talk) 03:42, 3 September 2025 (UTC)

- JoyfulFinance,I have reverted your refactoring of material on which others had already commented and then removal of that discussion altogether. Hello AllyD, Could you comment on the page created? Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks --OlleborLeumas (talk) 20:14, 9 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hi OlleborLeumas, from a quick look, the article looks well-structured. I do notice that the USC Viterbi reference is not found; I can find a brief faculty profile here instead. You should also hyperlink Society of Petroleum Engineers.in the text. I presume you are heading towards submitting the article via WP:AFC. Before doing that, though it is best to declare if you have any association with Robello Samuel (as per WP:COI). AllyD (talk) 20:28, 9 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your time and quick reply. Very much intrigued by the quick response. I have made the changes suggested by you. Could you please take a look at it one more time when you get time.
- Thank you OlleborLeumas (talk) 21:20, 9 September 2025 (UTC)
- I noted on your Talk page the issue of the Copyrighted photo, and I also tagged it on Commons. There are procedures whereby a copyright holder can release a photo - not something I have ever found myself in a position of needing to do, but see this page and email template instructions. AllyD (talk) 04:19, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- The Career section in the draft article could also benefit from hyperlinks to firms and institutions. AllyD (talk) 04:25, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thank. Could you please take a look at one more time if anything to be changed. OlleborLeumas (talk) 23:17, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- The draft article is well-formed. Presuming you would like this draft published to main space, your next stage will be to submit it through this process, where uninvolved editors will also consider whether the subject meets the notability criteria. One other thing - from here on, it will be important to provide an edit summary when publishing changes to this (or any other) article. It isn't so important when starting in a sandbox, but other editors do expect an edit summary for changes. AllyD (talk) 08:00, 13 September 2025 (UTC)

Question from Lllvfbb (13:26, 10 September 2025)
Hello, how can I add a sidebar to the page of Lech Kaczyński? --Lllvfbb (talk) 13:26, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Lllvfbb, template editing is one of the most complex things one could do. You have started developing this. I think what you would need is a template for presidents of Poland (you currently have a typo: PolIsh President), then a specific one for Kaczyński himself, which you would be copying into articles. I'd question whether this is needed: are there enough Kaczyński-specific articles to need this extra level of navigation, or would this become page litter? 14:03, 10 September 2025 (UTC) AllyD (talk) 14:03, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- thanks for noticing the typo, I would like to create one for him because no other Polish politician has it Lllvfbb (talk) 14:17, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
Question from Cinnamonman (12:47, 12 September 2025)
Hi Ally - I'm new here. Just added a comment regarding a sentence I didn't like in this profile. Wondering if I should have just edited it...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Ben_Enwonwu --Cinnamonman (talk) 12:47, 12 September 2025 (UTC)
- I have added my comments on that Talk page. On a more general point, I do think that you took the right approach; raising something on a Talk page gives other editors the chance to put a counter-view. Getting to a positive consensus can be a problem on a page which few people look at, but Ben Enwonwu has a healthy level of active work, so waiting a few days may bring others' views. Question from DragonsDarkened (15:14, 14 September 2025)
Hello, what do I do if I don’t know anything about any of the recommended edits? --DragonsDarkened (talk) 15:14, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hi DragonsDarkened, it looks like you did proceed with quite a few edits, article links, etc. after posting this message. I hope these have been useful in becoming familiar and confident with Wiki editing. After that, there are various maintenance categories (such as this). The other thing is to move towards your own topic interests: once you start Watchlisting articles of interest (using the star in the top menu), you often see edits that need spelling or grammar fixes, etc. AllyD (talk) 18:27, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- Not sure where else to put this so I'm going to put it here. There's an exit that I've noticed needs doing but I'm not sure how to do it.In the article 'Two Pence (British Decimal Coin) the images at the top of the page show the Royal Shield design as the current definitive design, despite there being a new definitive design (the Red Squirrel design).Just thought I'd mention this so that a more experienced editor could fix it. DragonsDarkened (talk) 15:38, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
- The word 'exit' on the first line is meant to say 'edit'. DragonsDarkened (talk) 15:39, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
- I agree it probably needs an encompassing update by an experienced wiki editor/numismatist, so maybe an opportunity to try out further wiki-tools! What I would suggest is that you add a new topic on Talk:Two pence (British decimal coin) to flag up refresh being needed for new coinage. Optionally, you could also add a Template:Update to the top of the article itself. AllyD (talk) 07:03, 16 September 2025 (UTC)

Question from Cinnamonman (10:19, 22 September 2025)
Hi Ally - Sorry to bug you again. I've been editing a few things recently. Mostly small. Came across my first dead (red) link on a page (3DLT) and thought I might add a stub. Saw there was a previous page that had been deleted, so don't know what the process/convention is here. Added a draft for you to see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Authentise
Let me know if you think that is ok? --Cinnamonman (talk) 10:19, 22 September 2025 (UTC)
- Articles on companies have specific notability criteria. In the case of Authentise, there was a draft article which was deleted last month, and the contributor is now blocked for promotional editing. For articles about companies, it is always important to declare any connection: see WP:COI.
- Regarding your draft, it looks to me that it would fall under WP:CORPTRIV. AllyD (talk) 19:21, 22 September 2025 (UTC)
- Great feedback. That trivial guidance is helpful. I was under the impression that a stub would be more helpful than nothing at all. Is that not the case? If those stubs are limited to an "encyclopedia entry giving an overview of the history of an organization" WP:SUBSTANTIAL ? Cinnamonman (talk) 08:16, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- Updated the article a bit to address your feedback. Thanks again! Cinnamonman (talk) 10:03, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- If you think it still needs updating, please lmk. If not, how does one move a draft to published page? or is it as simple as copying it wholesale? I would wait a couple days in any case to see whether my appeal for feedback on the Talk page elicits any further comments. Excited to publish my first article, even if just a stub (probably the right place to start).
- Thanks again for your help! Cinnamonman (talk) 10:21, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry, final comment. I found the link you linked before on articles for creation and know what to do once you have confirmed that the article now addresses your comments. Cinnamonman (talk) 10:24, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- It is better to place a separate subheading for the References (with two "=" on either side), then reflist in double curly brackets on the next linn.
- I am also placing comments in that Talk feedback section. If you do go ahead with this Draft, yit would be reviewed under both the AFC and then the NPP processes. AllyD (talk) 13:06, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. I made some edits but you may still have notabiltiy comments?
- I looked up how to submit to AFC and think I already submitted it by accident... (just pasted subst:submit there and it seems to have submitted). Will withdraw if there are major comments. Cinnamonman (talk) 11:15, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- You asked on the draft article Talk page about the article layout norms; see MOS:LAYOUT, and in particular MOS:LEADCLUTTER for the point about the first sentence. AllyD (talk) 18:31, 29 September 2025 (UTC)

Question from H0ck1ng1803 (22:47, 2 October 2025)
Hi, The wiki page for Burkettsville, OH, has a possible error. It says the post office closed in 1914. My mom tells me the post office was active in the 40's and 50's, and I see it is still active today per link https://tools.usps.com/locations/details/1356368 . How can I fix this? thanks James --H0ck1ng1803 (talk) 22:47, 2 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi H0ck1ng1803, there's several considerations in answering your question. In general, I'd caution about family recollections, as they don't work as sources here - even though they are often correct. Looking at the Burkettsville, Ohio article, though, the reference source on that sentence about the Post Office is quite weak: an archived listing page, whose information may have been only up to 1914 - we can't really tell. My suggestion would be for you to edit the article and delete the bit from the comma to 1914. The reference is then just about the Post Office's foundation date. Question from ChrisMeneses666 on Help:Category (06:34, 5 October 2025)
Magandang Araw AllyD,

Question from Tresia.D.Eaves (15:21, 20 October 2025)
Hello, maybe I'm misunderstanding what a "Disambiguation" page is for but when I try to add my work for 'The Platinum Rule,' a bot keeps removing it and "correcting" what I say. Can you help me understand why this is happening. I have proof and the copyright for this concept and have written and spoken many times over the past decade on the topic. Thank you, Dr. Tresia D. Eaves (214) 500-5736 --Tresia.D.Eaves (talk) 15:21, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Tresia.D.Eaves: firstly, editing about oneself or one's works falls under Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines.
- Your edit [4] to a disambiguation page was reverted. Such pages are not articles but rather serve to aid a reader to find a particular article that they are seeking. They don't really have substantive content. Your edit didn't provide such orientation to a particular article, and appears to be largely an assertion of copyright, which doesn't belong.
- At some point in the future, some uninvolved person may write an article about your particular work using this term, in which case a disambiguation page entry could become appropriate. AllyD (talk) 04:16, 21 October 2025 (UTC)

Question from Savage dq08 on User:Savage dq08 (03:57, 3 November 2025)
Hi hi hope all is well ! I just wanne ask that if this is the right option between visual and the other one to basically make a guide page ? If not any guidance be heavenly...I literally don't have any idea what im doing even after reading everything guide wise 🙈 --Savage dq08 (talk) 03:57, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Savage dq08, reading the various documents could certainly be baffling! Personally, I use the Wiki editor, but its syntax does take some learning, so newer editors may prefer using the Visual Editor. Anyway, either way, it is best to just dip your toe in the water and get started. Have you looked at Wikipedia:The_Wikipedia_Adventure? That could be a good start point. Question from PseudonymD (10:48, 19 November 2025)
Good day, I hope you are well. (the following context is relevant to my question) I am a final year student in South Africa studying for my exam on Afrikaans Literature. In the exam, breakdowns and analysis of the set poetry is required. Would it be reasonable for me to make contributions (in the process of my studying) to the pages of the relevant poets of these notable poetry translations into English. As an example by another person, take the section on "Winternag" on the page of Eugène Marais. Best regards, PD --PseudonymD (talk) 10:48, 19 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hi PseudonymD, that is an interesting question. It is good to share one's ongoing research. I think there may be 3 aspects. (1) I had thought an editor's own translation might be prevented as original research but WP:TRANSCRIPTION allows for it. (2) More problematic could be quoting a whole poetic work which remains under Copyright. (3) Then there is interpretive text around a creative work, which also needs care: again, it is important to avoid original research here, so one is restricted to citing others' published interpretations. Because of all these factors I could foresee that other editors reviewing an article change could have other opinions on what precisely can be done here, so the important thing is probably to use the Talk pages to seek consensus if you get any pushback on any change. 20 years? Damn, that's a true veteran, anyway I am asking how to make article description suggested edits on either the website or app, for on the app I only see image tags and captions that I don't want to do --LightandSalvation (talk) 14:15, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hi LightandSalvation, what I have to show for those 20 years is eyesight problems! Anyway, you asked about Short Descriptions. These can be a bit fraught, with differing opinions about those showing from Wikidata and those held on Wikipedia. I have the Wikipedia app on a tablet somewhere but don't recall using it for editing. Where a Short Description exists it shows ok for wikitext editing on the browser. There is info here which I hope can be useful. AllyD (talk) 11:06, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- LightandSalvation, I see you've already done quite a number of edits. One thing I will mention is that there's usually no need to link both the articles for a place and its country - the first is sufficiently precise and the latter too broad. See MOS:GEOLINK. Question from CEvansWestdale on Westdale Secondary School (06:03, 6 December 2025)
Hi. Charles Evans here. I would like to add Stanley Paul Kutcher (Stan Kutcher in Wikipedia) to the list of Notable Alumni. The reference can be "Stan Kutcher" and linked to his Wikipedia page. The body could be " Canadian Senator and Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University. a Distinguished Fellow of the Canadian Psychiatric Association. He was awarded the Order of Nova Scotia in 2014." This is copied from his Wikipedia page. FYI, I was a friend of Stan at Westdale. Same year. We were on the track and football teams together. Stan is also in the Westdale Hall of Fame. I think he should be included in Notable Alumni. Many thanks. --CEvansWestdale (talk) 06:03, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi CEvansWestdale, Stan Kutcher does see a reasonable addition to the list under Westdale Secondary School#Notable alumni. One thing, though: it will need a reference, and from a quick look at his CV it starts with post-school education. So can you locate a source (newspaper, etc) which mentions Kutcher attending Westdale? This may seem a bit weird, as you have the personal knowledge of Kutcher's school life, plus there are others in that list without a reference, but anything concerning a living person needs special care on Wikipedia. AllyD (talk) 07:52, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
- once you have a reference, you have two possible steps: (1) add it yourself to the alphabetic list at Westdale Secondary School#Notable alumni, or (2) open a topic at Talk:Westdale Secondary School with your suggested text (as in your message to me above). That could also be a way to ask if anyone else can find a reference. AllyD (talk) 07:58, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
- Understood. After his appointment, a local newspaper The Hamilton Spectator published an article stating Stan Kutcher was appointed to the Canadian Senate and was a graduate of Westdale Secondary School. December 17, 2018 "Hamilton's Stan Kutcher, an adolescent mental health expert, has been named to the Senate". "is a graduate of Westdale Secondary School and McMaster University" . I have a screen shot that I can send but don't see how I can attach. CEvansWestdale (talk) 08:07, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
- Using that info, I found the online article (wrapped in horrible sign-up messages, like so much today, but still usable as a reference): [5]. AllyD (talk) 09:12, 6 December 2025 (UTC)

how do i make an article --Lior123456 (talk) 08:04, 8 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Lior123456, commencing editing by creating a new article is rarely for the best. Better to start with, for example, WP:TWA to familiarise yourself in practice. That said, I see you have already created Draft:International Scroggin Day. Your challenge will be to identify and provide references to demonstrate that it is notable if, as the text says, there is "limited coverage in mainstream media". Question from Clarababy (02:10, 16 December 2025)
Hello, how can I add image to my background information --Clarababy (talk) 02:10, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Clarababy, there is a guide to uploading and using images here. Regarding your Draft:Amanam Joe, I suggest looking at the tone and content of biographical articles here, as the points made in Pythoncoder's initial rejection remain relevant. And it seems likely that draft article is about yourself? If so, please read WP:COI and WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY. AllyD (talk) 03:13, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
- I also suggest reading WP:MUSICBIO for details on notability here. And in this edit why did you try to remove someone else's name and replace it with Amanam Joe? AllyD (talk) 03:35, 16 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello! I had a question about wikitables and how to edit those since I wanted to add entries to one but couldn't figure it out. How do those work? --TheNerdy Parakeet (talk) 00:53, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi TheNerdy Parakeet, tables are certainly one of the most awkward features to work with. There is an introduction at Help:Wikitable. The best way is usually to copy-paste a previous row (after identifying where its separators begin/end - not always easy!), preview it, and then edit the addition from there, and preview again. I noticed you are editing on Mobile, as I generally am these days, and the editing experience can be tortuous - plenty potential for fat-finger over-reach when trying to copy-paste parts of a table. The preview is the closest to a safety net. AllyD (talk) 05:08, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
Question from LegoYoda edits wiki (03:12, 24 December 2025)
Hello, you are my mentor, and I have a question for you. I am very new to editing Wikipedia and was wondering what to do with the "citation needed" if you confirm the information is correct. Do you simply delete the citation needed link? --LegoYoda edits wiki (talk) 03:13, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi LegoYoda edits wiki, I think you are working on various introductory editing tasks at the moment. A citation needed would usually need to be replaced with a specific 3rd party reference - see WP:REFB. This is even if you know from personal experience that the sentence in the article is correct, which can be frustrating, but the fact that another editor has asked for a citation indicates some dubiety that needs to be answered. Question from IAmMrP on Dmitry Glukhovsky (01:23, 26 December 2025)
Hello! Can you help me with how to expand a short article? --IAmMrP (talk) 01:23, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi IAmMrP, looking at this article, there are probably two paths for expanding it: (1) using information that you identify in press articles about the subject, and (2) using information and references translated from the ru:Глуховский, Дмитрий Алексеевич article. It is important to bear in mind the biographies of living persons requirement that any statement that is added needs a verifiable reference. Sometimes other Wikipedias can be a bit vague with their references, but this Russian one looks ok with its reference coverage. However, you do need to check that any source does actually support the statement being referenced. So it can be laborious - probably best to go one step at a time. Question from Factchecker677 (15:24, 1 January 2026)
Hello, I have attempted to edit an article multiple times and have been stopped by a user named magnolia677. It's an article about a fire department that is incorrect and they keep undoing the edit how do I solve this issue --Factchecker677 (talk) 15:24, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Factchecker677, presumably you are referring to the temp. account edits to Paris,_Illinois#Fire_districts earlier, before you created your account. I can see why the change was reverted, as it was unreferenced. Even when a previous text was unreferenced, when we replace it, there is a need to meet current standards by including references. I see you included references in your most recent change; a couple of comments: (1) it is best to include formatted reference information, such as title, site name, so that if the URL later disappears, people may be able to find what it was and where it went, and (2) Fandom isn't a great source as it is a user-written wiki. AllyD (talk) 19:09, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- what about when there isn't a reference available? Are subject matter experts not allowed to educate? Z Factchecker677 (talk) 19:17, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- The WP:NOR position is definitely one of the most frustrating aspects of Wikipedia. We all of us have a number of facts on topics which we know but which lack published verifiable sources, so at best have to go elsewhere. AllyD (talk) 22:53, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from Sisigegg (12:55, 3 January 2026)
Hello!! if for example there's a message on an article saying it has a promotional tone or something like that, and I edit the sentences to remove the promotional feel, can I already remove the message? If other editors still think the article sounds promotional, will they put the message back? and could i get a warning for that? and also please give me like some link policies that i could read. --Sisigegg (talk) 12:55, 3 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Sisigegg, promotional wording can be in the eye of the beholder. Personally, after removing / rephrasing the likely promotional text, I would check the edit history and talk page of the article in case any other specific concerns had been raised, then do an edit to remove the tag with an edit summary like "removing tag as promotional content is gone now, but please replace if you think there is more to be done". And if someone does replace it, then open a talk page discussion rather than re-removing the tag. AllyD (talk) 13:18, 3 January 2026 (UTC)
- thank you so much! Sisigegg (talk) 13:34, 3 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hello again @AllyD, can you check if what I did on this page is correct? Intelenet Global Services - Wikipedia Sisigegg (talk) 14:05, 3 January 2026 (UTC)

Question from WK18331918 (15:26, 8 January 2026)
I have been editing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoke_Park,_Guildford
I'm confused because the first reference in the published version after my edit is numbered 3 in the main text. However, the "references " section shows references 1 & 2 (which do not appear in the main text).
When I re-checked in 'edit' mode footnote '3' appears correctly as footnote 1.
Not sure what's happened here, or how I can correct it.
Thanks --WK18331918 (talk) 15:26, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi WK18331918, the references are numbered sequentially when a page is being displayed, and in this case there are two references for Owned by andAdministered by in the Infobox which, though they appear further down the screen are actually preceding the first paragraph of the article text. (If you see what I mean!) AllyD (talk) 19:22, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- Since you asked that question, however, I see that Murgatroyd49 reverted your edits, so that is also worth commenting on. Zooming out (and never having been to Guildford), I'd say this seems to be a matter of what Budgett acquired in 1879 and what the Corporation acquired in 1925 and from whom. The existing source for the "lung of the town" statement looks weak (lacking a page) but is nonetheless a published reference, so I can see that to remove that would need an at least equivalent source, hence the revert. The reference source you added a few minutes later can support Budgett's purchase but that would leave open the question of who possessed what to sell or donate in 1925. I'd suggest opening a topic on Talk:Stoke Park, Guildford where you and other editors can seek consensus and sources for what can reasonably be said about the purchase. AllyD (talk) 19:24, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks so much for your help. I have opened the Talk and explained why I wanted to make the changes. As for your point re who had what to sell and donate, the land was entirely owned by Budgett by 1925, but it is a bit complex. That could be explained in a revamped history section. The problem is I am looking a primary archive sources (in the Surrey History Centre), which I could quote, but it seems only online sources are acceptable - which in the case of SP are generally of poor quality. WK18331918 (talk) 23:33, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- You have made a substantial case on the article Talk work. Now it needs a bit of time for anyone else to respond. As to references, an online source is obviously easier to verify, but that doesn't preclude paper sources. AllyD (talk) 16:29, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
