Hey, I am so so sorry for my lateness. Well done for this well-researched article! It is clear you are very passionate about the subject. I have done some copy-editing and fixed various things and removed some information not directly related to him. Earwig shows no copyright issues and the sourcing is quite good. Here are my comments:

1. The lead is a bit short - could you please expand it?
2. Since the 73rd Cannes festival was cancelled, where did Striding Into the Wind end up debuting?
3. "The movie's co-writer Kang Chunlei says the following about the theme of the movie: "We hope to explore the stagnation of life and its impact on each individual" and explains the title of it by saying "Big events in people's lives are like throwing a pebble into the water. Although ripples immediately appear on the surface, it quickly returns to calmness."" - Could you please trim this? As it does not give much information at Shujun
4. "Although it is Wei's first feature film not to center on disillusioned young filmmakers, it does not do away with the theme altogether, instead opting for meta-commentary on alienation and drawing parallels between the professions of film and police" - Could you please trim and reword this? It sounds slightly informal and unneutral in its current format
5. I removed a bunch of information on Ripples of Life as it was more relevant to the film and not the filmmaker. It is very interesting and useful though, so I would recommend creating an article for the movie and bringing the information there :)
6. "The movie's co-writer, Kang Chunlei said of the theme of the movie, "We hope to explore the stagnation of life and its impact on each individual"." - I would recommend removing this, especially as the source is not 100% reliable.
7. Could you please state his role in Mostly Sunny and I Dreamed a Dream? Was he the producer or creator or?
8. "Mostly Sunny explores the limits of rationality" - I think this should go in "Themes and influence"
9. "uncomfortable realities of the industry" - This seems more of an opinion - could you please reword this or quote it?
10. "Other themes that his work tackles include empirical rationality and its limits" - Could you please expand this?
11. "Wei was compared to other young Chinese film directors" - By who?

Hey, so I did most of what you wrote down, except for points 6 and 11. About China Daily, the consensus at WP:RSPSS seems to be that it's okay for non-political content in mainland China. So I don't see how that source is not reliable here. And on 11, the full sentence is "In an interview with French film website Cinematraque, Wei was compared to other young Chinese film directors such as Gu Xiaogang and Bi Gan." I think it's clear that its the interviewer-author that compared him to those other directors. I found adding the name of the interviewer too clunky, but I'm open to hear your opinion on it! I struggled with expanding the lead, if you have any ideas about that don't hesitate to tell me / add them!

  @222emilia222: I am so sorry! I did not see that you finished it and only noticed it now as I went through my notifications. You have done a great job with the changes - well done! I have spotchecked Sources #5 and #11. Source #5 did not say that the film was released in 2018 and Source #11 did not say that Kang was co-writer. Hence, before I spotcheck more sources, could you please go through the article and check that everything is sourced to the relevant refs please?   Hi 222emilia222, your article is very well-written and I am certain that it will be promoted to GA in no time! I just have a small drive-by comment I noticed while reading: native spellings are not necessary if those terms are the titles of separate articles according to WP:NONENGLISHTITLE. So for films like Striding Into the Wind and Only the River Flows, they do not have to be followed by Chinese translations in brackets as they are already linked to their respective articles.
