Barney Circle / Hill East neighborhoods

Hill East is a neighborhood that is bordered between C Street NE to the north, the Anacostia River to the east and the south, and 13th Street NE and SE to the west according to a 2022 Washington Post article. This would include places and landmarks such as Stadium–Armory station, Eastern High School, the RFK Stadium campus, the Congressional Cemetery, the D.C. Jail, and the D.C. Armory. I'm not a DC resident, but it seems like the majority of the Barney Circle is describing this (newer?) neighborhood. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:11, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Bohemian Baltimore: I noticed you thanked the creation of the Hill East category, so would it be wrong of me to assume that you also agree it deserves an article? I'd like to see the views of DC residents to see if I'm misunderstanding all of this. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 18:48, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hill East is not yet a neighborhood by common definition, rather a designation for an area in the midst of redevelopment. I do not support creating its article. Cristiano Tomás (talk) 19:16, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
DC's neighborhoods can be amorphous at the best of times -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 19:36, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Cristiano Tomás: It's directly called a neighborhood on DC.gov while Barney Circle is officially defined as a "historic district" bordered by the actual Barney Circle road in the south, Potomac Ave SE to the north, 17th Street SE to the east, and Kentucky Ave SE to the west, basically just being the small area directly west of the Congressional Cemetery.
Maybe Hill East doesn't deserve an article, but it's incorrect to say Barney Circle encompasses the area east of Capitol Hill that includes the above landmarks. I'm still proposing that the page be moved to Hill East and contain a section on the Barney Circle district within it. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 19:27, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Add "Washington, DC"

Washington, D.C., officially the District of Columbia and commonly known as simply Washington or D.C., is the capital city and federal district of the United States.

This sentence needs to have the official postal name, too. Please add "Washington, DC" without the periods somewhere in the sentence. The New Oxford American Dictionary lists "Washington, DC" as the only entry under "DC" or "Washington." ~2026-52744-1 (talk) 19:30, 24 January 2026 (UTC):[reply]

Postal codes aren't used on Wikipedia and avoided when possible (per my memory of a guideline somewhere). Randy Kryn (talk) 23:46, 24 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
DC is an exception. (MOS:POSTABBR) —ADavidB 03:08, 25 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
