Timeline is far too long. Better to have monthly timelines

Scrolling though this is uncomfortable as too long. That makes adding information harder too, Should have monthly timelines instead TGcoa (talk) 09:43, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

TGcoa: I don't know whether month-based or event-based splits are better, but I agree this is getting long. According to Prosesize it's currently at 482kB of wiki text or 1923kB of HTML. For comparison, the previous two timelines are 371kB/1511kB and 372kB/1366kB. — ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · email · global) 13:55, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Might a split be made at May 2025 Gaza offensive (16 May)? Borgenland (talk) 16:18, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am supporting it. Pachu Kannan (talk) 20:30, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I did a quick check in my text editor. Setting 17 May as the cutoff for this timeline would shave off roughly 62kB which brings it a bit closer to the size of the previous two timelines. ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · email · global) 02:17, 26 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am indifferent when the cutoff is ... I just don't want to have to scroll through an article that is very very long. Thanks. TGcoa (talk) 13:05, 26 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Split is done. New page is at Timeline of the Gaza war (16 May 2025 – present). I have also updated Timeline of the Gaza war and {{Timeline of the Gaza war}} to reflect the same. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 09:19, 1 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
