Talk:National Democratic Alliance (Armenia)

Change to Article Name

The group self-identifies as the National Democratic Political Axis in English (see: https://ajbever.com/declaration-eng/). I recommend changing the title of the article to "National Democratic Political Axis (Armenia)" Manougian (talk) 16:42, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm that's interesting... seems like the alliance's name is pretty ambiguous and is being used interchangeably. From the sources I've come across, I have seen "National Democratic Pole", "National Democratic Alliance", "National Democratic Axis", and "National Democratic Political Axis". Even on their own website, they use other names such as "National Democratic Party" (see: https://ajbever.com/los-anjelesi-marzi-ven-nays-k-aghak-owm-bats-vel-e-azgayin-zhoghovrdavarakan-bewerhi-grasenyak/). Therefore, it would be unwise to make any changes or assume that one name is more legitimate then the others until we know that for a fact. Asking to restore deleted updates

  • Explaining the situation

We are political organization, operating in the state with authoritarian political regime. In such circumstances, almost no neutrality exists and authoritarian regime would like to silence us. Therefore, I would not anticipate any neutral person will exist to edit the article material. If you'll find one, we would be happy to work with him/her.

  • What I think should be changed (include citations):

Already, made changes on March 16 and those were deleted due to using copyrighted materials from ajbever.com We removed, copyright restrictions from ajbever.com pages. Can you please, restore changes and let us know if any issues remain.

  • Why it should be changed:

The page contained information about activities mostly occurred till 2021. New information was added regarding activities after 2021.

@Nerses73, I am not sure what "we removed copyright restrictions from ajbever.com pages" means. Unless the copyright holder for the material has released it into the public domain then we cannot use this. Also, since it was a copyright violation, the history has been hidden, so we cannot see the material to restore it even if it was not copyrighted and otherwise a good fit for the article. Rusalkii (talk) 01:16, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, for late reply.
I've saved my version in the PDF file.
I can send you and you can make changes at least to the parts where there are no conflicts. And then we can work out part where you see issues.
For that I don't see option to attach a file to this message.
Otherwise, I can submit chunk by chunk. Nerses73 (talk) 16:28, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you'd like to propose changes to the content, please suggest them here on the talk page, without using content which has been copied from anywhere else. Rusalkii (talk) 17:30, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Here will provide the numbered list of proposed changes in separate replies.
1. In the section Activities paragraph 4th ("On 26 February 2021, Tigran Khzmalyan stated that Armenia must remain democratic and to be cautious of Russian interference in Armenia's domestic affairs, during a protest.") should be removed as not significant political statement. It is more statement toward crowd to manipulate its behavior. Nerses73 (talk) 13:35, 1 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
2. In the section Activities before "On 23 March 2021" add
"On 16 March 2021, NDA organized a protest rally in front of Russian embassy devoted to the centennial of Treaty of Moscow (1921), which illegally enforced occupation and partition of Armenia. NDA prepared and handed a letter[1]
to Russian embassy, emphasizing similarity of Treaty of Moscow (1921) with Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact in establishing Sphere of Influence." Nerses73 (talk) 14:02, 1 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
3. In the section Activities before "On 21 February 2023" add
"On 9 April 2022, after Russian invasion of Ukraine NDA organized a rally ([1]) to protest in front of Russian embassy against Russian unprovoked aggression and then in front of USA embassy encouraging to support Ukraine and Armenia in their aspirations for freedom and democracy." Nerses73 (talk) 14:07, 1 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
4. In the section Activities before "On 2 November 2023" add
"On 19 September 2023, when Azerbaijan started its genocidal military offensive for ethnic cleansing of
Artsakh Armenians. On the same day,in support of Artsakh NDA organized protest ([[2]]) demanding from Government of Armenia
to not abandon and support Artsakh. The protests continued on following days too." Nerses73 (talk) 14:14, 1 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have reopened the edit requests for you, I'm not reviewing these right now but someone should be along to take a look. Rusalkii (talk) 14:54, 1 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Nerses73, I am not fluent in Armenian, but are the sources you just linked videos from the National Democratic Alliance's YouTube channel? GoldRomean (talk) 04:35, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Correct.
If you check the main page of that channel and then links section, you may see links to our web site, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other official pages. The same information is available from other our pages too. Nerses73 (talk) 07:01, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
there was no response from you for a long time, so I restored my changes.
Hope this time the changes would be accepted.

5. At the end of section "Activities" add subsection:
===Activities advancing Armenian interests abroad===
One of pivotal decisions made by NDA was to strengthen strategic cooperation of Armenia with West, especially with USA, as the only state having potential to help Armenia to survive. To carry effective policy serving Armenian interests with potential allies of Armenia, NDA started to cooperation with lobbying firms. In the USA, cooperated with The Livingston Group and then switched to the Moran Global Strategies. In 2025 we started to lobby for Armenia in UK too and seeking for possibilities to extend to other countries.
During this process, we were able to facilitate holding a hearing in the US House of Representatives to highlight the plight of Armenians of Artsakh on June 21, 2023[2]. Also, hearing in the US House of Representatives on September 6, 2023[3], to shed light on the devastating humanitarian
crisis unfolding in Artsakh. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) fully endorsed the full passage
in the U.S. House of Representatives of the “Preventing Ethnic Cleansing and Atrocities in Nagorno-
Karabakh Act of 2023 (HR 5686)”. This historic legislation, led by Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ),
whom NDA has closely collaborated with for previews several months[4]. On September 22, 2023, the U.S. House of Representatives introduced the “Supporting Armenians Against Azerbaijani Aggression Act” (H. R. 5683), an NDA-backed legislation which has already been introduced in the U.S. Senate. The House-version of the bill is identical in language to the Senate version (S. 2900) and holds Azerbaijan accountable for its atrocities against Artsakh as well as establishes frameworks for the U.S-Armenia bilateral relationship across a number of sectors, including, but not limited to, science and technology, defense and security, and energy[5]. Dr. David Grigorian and Ambassador Ara Papian submitted a joint written testimony to Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission in the US House of Representatives hearing on the “Human Rights in Azerbaijan Since the Fall of Nagorno-Karabakh” held on September 19, 2024.[6][7]
Working with our partners includes also high stake visits and establishing personal connections. In
addition to yearly visits by Amb. Ara Papian, NDA Council Members Jirayr Sefilian and Vahe Gasparyan
visited USA and met with numerous Congressmans, Senators and other prominent political figures and
representatives of US Goverment.
Despite the worsening external and internal developments, NDA continued its high-level outreach in the
United States and Europe. From March 7-13, 2024, Ambassador Ara Papian, a member of Governing
Council of NDA, visited Belgium and Germany[8] at the invitation of the Diaspora organization
“Armenian Renaissance.” The following is a brief list of public and private meetings held with
Ambassador Papian:
On November 19th, 2023, members of the Governing Council of the National Democratic Alliance
(NDA) Jirayr Sefilian, Ara Papian, and Garo Yegnukian met with a delegation from the United States House of Representatives led by Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) and included Congresswoman Victoria Spartz (R-IN) and the Executive Director of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (Helsinki Commission), Steven Schrage. On July 5th, 2024, members of the Governing Council of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Jirayr Sefilian, Ara Papian, and Garo Yegnukian met with Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC), who along with Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) co-led a US Congressional delegation to Armenia during July 2-5, 2024.

On January 14, 2025 the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) delegation in London for a series of high-level meetings with members of the UK Parliament (including the House of Lords and the House of Commons), the Executive branch, think tanks, and media.[12]During United Kingdom visit the NDA delegation held a series of high-profile meetings and engagements[13]. Throughout the day, the NDA representatives Amb. Ara Papian and Dr. David Grigorian met with the following officials:
  • A former special adviser to Foreign Secretary;
  • A senior executive at The Daily Mail, the bestselling UK newspaper and one of the top global news websites;

On January 14, 2025 the NDA delegation visiting the United Kingdom continued meeting with various stakeholders.
Specifically, Amb. Ara Papian and Dr. David Grigorian met members of the House of Commons and parliamentary staffers representing the ruling Labour Party and the Democratic Unionist
Party. [14] Nerses73 (talk) 13:37, 2 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: I've reverted these changes, please don't auto-accept your own changes if you don't hear back for a while, the queue is very long so it may take some time, everyone has to be patient. The sources provided for some parts of the requested text are not reliable, social media channels are one such example. If you're able to provide reliable sources this can be re-evaluated.

Some of the language is also not appropriate for Wikipedia, "During this process, we were able to facilitate". This isn't your website, it's a factual encyclopaedia entry for the organisation and should be worded as such.

If you'd like to re-write the entry so that the language is more appropriate and reliably sourced, I'd be happy to re-review.
