Lead

Suggestion to define Martín as a maritime pilot instead of just a pilot. My first impression was that he was an airborne pilot, which amazed me considering he was born in the 16th century. I emphasise this is just a suggestion, since I'm not familiar with maritime phrases, though my opinion can be as good as that of an average reader, and in that view, a clarification might be necessary.

Early life

Same as above. When he was described as a pilot for the first time, I think it would be beneficial to describe him as a maritime pilot (with a link), and continue using just pilot elsewhere.

The last sentence - "Martín also claimed to have a wife living in the town" remains unclear. Was this just a claim, ie a false statement, or did he genuinely state at some point that he indeed has a wife, although this couldn't be confirmed by other sources?

Legazpi expedition

Is Esteban Rodríguez a notable person? If so, there should be a link, even if the article isn't created yet. Considering that Rodríguez's wage was higher, this could be the case. Also, the same goes for Hernán Sánchez Muñón. Please, be free to differ if you think I'm wrong.

Return voyage

"Repaired, the San Lucas left the cove on 4 March and continued around Mindanao". Was it not said in the previous chapter that the San Lucas travelled to the Davao Gulf instead of along Mindano because of the current?
