change of article title
In keeping with the established wikipedia precedent of flat earth versus round earth, I personally believe that a new article should be introduced called "the hunter biden laptop" and this article should be renamed "the unclaimed baltimore laptop" and have a few things removed. Although I think this present article eventually points out that the laptop was successfully used at criminal trial (strong references) and sort of (but not really) points out that the FBI verified the authenticity laptop against the apple cloud in 2019 for example per unchallenged congressional testimony (strong references), one really has to dig to find that out. The title "Hunter Biden laptop controversy" appears to be more of an artifact over past wikipedia discussion on a "contentious" subject, that was perhaps more relevant before the justice department played its cards 5 years later. There is no article in wikipedia titled "the round earth controversy". We contributors should be free to cite whatever we want to support "the unclaimed baltimore laptop". See the wikpedia article on why wikipedia cannot say the earth is round. Hotornotquestionmarknot (talk) 18:01, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- The laptop was real? Well then, I support removing "controversy" from the article title. Magnolia677 (talk) 19:34, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- I could agree to compromise by agreeing with the above proposal to remove "controversy" from the title.
- I might then suggest opening with an overview statement summarizing the relevant parts of the gun trial and then moving the existing article in a lower section entitled "History of the Prior Controversy."
- I propose the following introduction: In the Hunter Biden gun trial, the FBI testified that the laptop belonged to Hunter Biden by corroborating the laptop serial number against the Apple Cloud and presenting an invoice emailed from the repair shop to Hunter Biden. Although Hunter Biden's defense team said there were reasons to believe that some laptop contents had been altered, no supporting evidence was provided. Prosecutors testified that they cross referenced every text message, whatsapp message, iMessage, and text against Apple [1] [2]. Hunter Biden was convicted, though later pardoned.

- I think RS do probably support 'Hunter Biden laptop'. I don't see a case for your other suggestion. Riposte97 (talk) 21:15, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. May I inquire as to which other suggestion you are referring to? I might have made two (converting to two articles for and against) and changing the introduction to focus on the trial. So I am good with removing the word "controversy" from the title instead of having 2 articles. But I do think then that the introduction needs to be changed, essentially bringing the existing "hunter biden gun trial" section to the beginning and possibly enhancing it as I added above. As it stands now, one has to wade through 5 years of controversy before finding how it ended. Some believe that effective writing often starts off with the main point. Also, things like google search tend to quote the introduction of a wikipedia article, not something buried way down below. In summary, besides removing the word "controversy", I believe we should have the introduction lead off with the gun trial, because that is when the FBI/DOJ showed it was Hunter's laptop. - The laptop can both be real and have caused controversy. Per WP:NATURAL I see no need for change. TarnishedPathtalk 00:23, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
Controversy concerning 51 intelligence officers
since the Biden administration generated the letter at the hands of Blinken, this should be referenced as potential election interference in a known falsely stated attempt to claim the laptop was seemingly fabricated by Russia. Biden knew it was real 104.234.32.135 (talk) 02:04, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- Except the letter didnt claim it was russian fabricate? 144.6.103.10 (talk) 03:27, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- Also it's impossible "the Biden administration" could generate a letter that was released before the administration existed, unless you believe in backwards time travel in which case..... Nil Einne (talk) 04:28, 1 October 2025 (UTC)

The introductory paragraph states that forensic analysis verified “one of two” of the emails originally published by The New York Post. This should be updated to read “both emails” were verified, as later stated in the same article and in the quoted citations 4, 5, and 6. 2600:6C63:427F:2ECA:E598:4612:95AC:2BFA (talk) 00:39, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
