An second life

With the news of Trump's plan to reopen it there will probably be a warm of people coming here to try to change all the "was" into "is" should the page be protected more or should the update happen now? 217.180.216.104 (talk) 00:04, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Does a President even have the authority to transfer land from the Department of the Interior to the Department of Justice? The island became part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area through a law passed by Congress. NME Frigate (talk) 01:56, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
He's the head of the executive branch he's technically in charge of both the department of interior and the department of justice I don't see why he couldn't 217.180.216.104 (talk) 03:15, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So if the President decided it was in the best interest of the United States to close, say, Grand Canyon National Park in order to build a prison there, he could just do that without asking Congress? NME Frigate (talk) 18:42, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Did you even look at any of my sources please do that first also none of this has anything to do with protecting the page 217.180.216.104 (talk) 21:40, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I can see, the sources you listed have nothing to do with "a warm of people" -- what does that mean, by the way? NME Frigate (talk) 03:39, 6 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
People get taught context clues but never use them swarm 217.180.216.104 (talk) 20:24, 6 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a more recent citatiom: Reopen Alcatraz? Indigenous people say it’s more than madness – it’s historical erasure (The Guardian, 2 August 2025). Fabrickator (talk) 03:32, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

NOT "off the coast of San Francisco"

Alcatraz Island is *****IN***** the City & County of San Francisco; not off the coast of it - though you could **somewhat correctly** say Alcatraz is "off the coast of Marin."

It would be most accurate to say, "... on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay, about 1.25 miles (2.01 kilometers) from the shore of mainland San Francisco." 2601:645:C601:CB00:A886:1001:AFA6:6D37 (talk) 07:11, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
