  • peint sans doute par Gérard lui-même d'après un tableau de 1808 (payé 12.000 francs par Caroline qui en fit don à Napoléon la même année pour orner le salon de famille du palais de Saint-Cloud ;
  • peu après, l'Empereur autorisa l'envoi de l'oeuvre au Salon où elle figura sous le no 243 ;
  • emporté en 1815 par Blücher comme butin de guerre et vendu à Monaco le 4 décembre 1976) , à moins qu'il n'y ait eu interversion ;
  • petite copie de ce tableau, de la main de Gérard, au musée de Versailles (MV 4884)
  • Ancienne appartenance: Murat famille ; dation NEY/MURAT
  • acquisition: 1973/02/27
