Telecommunications in San Marino
This article provides an outline of the telecommunications infrastructure in San Marino.
Postal system

Poste San Marino is the public agency responsible for managing postal services in the Republic of San Marino.[1] The company operates under the authority of the Secretariat of State for Labour, Cooperation and Posts.
For mail sent from abroad, the Republic of San Marino uses an postal code system based on the Italian system, conventionally adopted as if the Republic’s post offices were agencies of the Italian province of Rimini, specifically within postal zone IX.
For internal correspondence, the Sammarinese postal administration established internal codes consisting of one alphabetical character followed by a numerical digit. These codes are largely unused, especially after 1997, when the revision of the Italian postal coding system for the new provinces created in 1992 led to the abolition of the single code previously assigned to the Republic (47031, belonging to postal zone III of the Province of Forlì-Cesena) and its replacement with specific codes for each post office in the Republic.
List of postal codes
The Italian postal codes are:
- 47890 City of San Marino
- 47891 Dogana
- 47892 Acquaviva
- 47893 Borgo Maggiore
- 47894 Chiesanuova
- 47895 Domagnano
- 47896 Faetano
- 47897 Fiorentino
- 47898 Montegiardino
- 47899 Serravalle
Each of these codes is valid for all localities administered by the respective castello. Only in the castello of Serravalle are two post offices in operation: Serravalle (47899) and Dogana (47891). The latter serves the lowland localities of the Serravalle castello near the border along the consular road leading to Rimini (Dogana, Falciano, Galazzano, Rovereta), while the Serravalle office serves the main town and the remaining curazie (hamlets).

Television and radio
San Marino has only one television station, San Marino RTV, which is owned by a company with the same name.[3] In 1997, there were approximately 9,000 television sets in the country.[relevant?]
San Marino has two radio networks, Radio San Marino and Radio San Marino Classic, also owned by San Marino RTV.[4] In 1997, there were approximately 16,000 radios in San Marino.
Broadcasting system
San Marino RTV, the public broadcasting concessionaire, operates one television channel and two radio networks.

San Marino RTV was founded in August 1991 by the Ente per la Radiodiffusione Sammarinese (ERAS) and RAI – Radiotelevisione Italiana (RAI), with equal ownership. Radio broadcasting trials began on 27 December 1992; on 25 October 1993, Radio San Marino RTV started 24-hour programming. Television trial broadcasts began on 24 April 1993, while regular programming commenced on 28 February 1994. In July 1995, the broadcaster joined the European Broadcasting Union.
The television channel is also receivable in Italy in the area between Venice, Bologna, Romagna and part of the Marche region on digital terrestrial television (DTT) multiplex channel 51.[5] Since October 2021, the channel has been available throughout Italy at LCN 831.[6] It is also available via satellite across Europe on Hot Bird satellites at 13° East. The radio networks have a more limited coverage area.
After its debut in 2008, the Republic of San Marino has participated regularly in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2011; it has reached the final four times (in 2014, 2019, 2021 and 2025). Previously, although it did not yet have its own television service, San Marino took part in three editions of another EBU programme, Jeux sans frontières, achieving good results.
There are also two private FM radio stations. In 1997, there were approximately 16,000 radio receivers and about 9,000 television sets in the country. Due to geographic proximity, Italian radio and television broadcasts are widely received within the Republic, and residents may subscribe to Sky Italia and other pay-TV services.
Internet
In 2010 there were 17,000 Internet users in San Marino.[7] San Marino's Internet domain is .sm.
Press
The four main Sammarinese daily newspapers are L'Informazione di San Marino, La Tribuna Sammarinese, Lo Sportivo.sm and San Marino Oggi. The Corriere di Informazione Sammarinese, Il Resto del Carlino, Corriere Romagna and La Voce di Romagna are newspapers published in Italy that include pages dedicated to San Marino.
Amateur radio
San Marino does not adhere to the recommendations of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT); therefore, licences issued to amateur radio operators in other countries are not considered valid within the territory of the Republic.
