Castner Range National Monument
- ... that Castner Range National Monument, a former weapons test site that closed in 1966, is still undergoing remediation so this portion of the Franklin Mountains (pictured) can be used for recreation? Overall:
The article is very nice and meets all DYK criteria, but I think the hook needs to be changed, because the cause of the protection of the site was not only the plan to turn it into a recreational area. Castner Range is also important for historical and naturalistic reasons, and in my opinion this should appear in the hook. Alex2006 (talk) 08:43, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Reywas92 and Alessandro57: Just a suggestion for a hook. Shortened and geographically labeled. Once I added (pictured) to your hook it was 199 characters and it might be TMI.
- ALT1: ... that Castner Range National Monument (pictured) is a former weapons test site in El Paso, Texas and it still needs clean-up of live munitions?
- Let me know your thoughts. Bruxton (talk) 14:13, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
- Much more concise, @Bruxton:, I like it! The first hook sounded like it was written by me (Italian prolixity :-( ) Alex2006 (talk) 15:20, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Bruxton and Alessandro57: I like the original because it shows how long it's been and the purpose of the clean-up. How about
- ALT2: ... that to open for recreation, Castner Range National Monument (pictured) in El Paso's Franklin Mountains still needs clean-up of live munitions since closing as a weapons test site in 1966?
