Result: Delisted Multiple citation needed tags still present. A bit of a shame as these could have been fixed relatively easily. Still it has been open for three months now and more than enough time has passed Aircorn (talk) 18:24, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2008 promotion that has seen better days. Although many parts are exquisitely detailed, there are dozens of citation needed tags (including one in the lead) that need to be addressed. I recently made some edits myself regarding extra references in the lead and infobox, but I can't assist anywhere else.   • Promoted to GA status on 9/2. Long enough and appears policy compliant. My attempt to run an Earwig check was unsuccessful (the results would not load) but my spot-checking didn't detect anything nefarious. (If someone else can get earwig to run, that would be great.) The proposed hooks are interesting/hooky and are short enough. Certain of the sources are books that are not available for my online verification, but they are accepted in good faith. Sentence to fix in the introduction

"a two-film prequel series was directed by Scott before Alien: Covenant (2017) and Alien: Romulus (2024)." Alien: Covenant is part of that two-film prequel series, so the sentence is incorrect, Scott didn't direct two prequels before Covenant. Kumagoro-42 (talk) 03:14, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request to have an objective editor review a sentence in this article

Could I please ask someone to review the following sentence in the section ‘Spaceships and planets’? I believe the sentence, ‘Scott also had disagreements with miniature-effects cinematographer Dennis Ayling over how to light the models.’ is an inaccurate summary of the referenced quote from ‘The Beast Within: The Making of Alien.’ In the quoted section Ridley Scott says that Dennis Ayling advised him to use fill light when shooting the models and to do cover shots. To summarise this as ‘disagreements’ is incorrect, in my opinion, and creates the impression they were arguing, which is not the case. For clarity, Dennis Ayling is my father. Thank you! I would ping IllaZilla as the main contributor (and possibly the one who added this text) but they have not edited since June. Thank you Erik. I think the version of the source you found on YouTube has been edited down. The source in question can be found on YouTube under the title Outward Bound (Alien), which is a chapter from the documentary. The quote is at 04:30. I couldn’t add the url to this comment.

Chest Burster Scene Filming Mythology

I don't have sources, I'm just putting this here as a note. Don't take my word, obviously, but there are several interviews and also notes and logistics records around this. The Chest Burster scene actually involved multiple takes, and a lot of experimentation. The initial test shots included a lot more blood, but by the time they had the final take it was down to very little. Veronica Cartright did indeed overreact initially, but she repeated the performance for the final take. Tom Skerrit's comments are made up for publicity.
