Badar Durrez Ahmed (born 16 March 1956 at Shillong) is Chief Justice of the Hon'ble High Court of J&K and took oath on 01.04.2017. Earlier His Lordship was a Judge of the Delhi High Court.[1]

Early life

Earlier he was a Lecturer in Economics St Stephen's Coll, Delhi Univ 1977-1979, enrolled as an Advocate 1980, served in chambers of Siddhartha Shanker Ray 1980-1983, practised independently 1983-1986, partner "Lawyers Associated" 1986-2000.

He has been a Judge of the Delhi High Court since 2002, and is presently the Secretary of the Ghalib Institute.

Personal life

He is the son of H.E. Dr. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, President of India (24 August 1974 – 11 February 1977)[2] by his wife, Abida Begum, of Haldoi.

He is married to Kaniz-i-Shaharbanu Nawabzadi Saba Begum Sahiba (2 February 1959-), the daughter of Noor Bano Begum and Major Nawab Sayyid Zulfikar Ali Khan Bahadur. The couple has one daughter and one son:[3]
