The song was released on February 5, 2015 through Kemosabe Records.[1] The song was commercially successful in Oceania, peaking at number 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart and reaching the top 10 on the New Zealand Singles Chart. The song has, so far, peaked at number 84 on the Billboard Hot 100.

A music video to accompany the release of "Bills" was first released onto YouTube on 20 February 2015 at a total length of three minutes and thirty-seven seconds.[2]
