Second Qualifying Round

16 teams will enter directly at the Second Qualifying Round. They will be joined by the 37 winners from the previous round and the 11 third round winners of the UEFA Intertoto Cup.

Northern region

Central-East region

Southern-Mediterranean region

Note: There will need to be some adjustments to the groups outlined above as (if winners from the previous round are included) there would be 21 teams in each of the northern and central-east regions, preventing a direct pairing of all teams within their respective regional grouping.

First Round

The following 32 teams will enter at the First Round. Also entering are the winners from the previous round and the losers from the UEFA Champions League Third Qualifying Round.

Final

The final of the UEFA Cup 2008-09 will be held at 20 May 2009 at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey. This will be the first time that the UEFA Cup Final is held in Turkey and follows the 2005 UEFA Champions League Final which was held in Istanbul's Atatürk Olympic Stadium.
