Template:Future public transportation In the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, there was a proposal for a rapid transit. In 2004 the region began a environmental assessment of the planned Grand River Transit line. Early in 2007, the Region decided that the system would be either a Light Rapid Transit line or a Bus Rapid Transit line. Routes consisting of a combination of new lines and existing tracks/roads (with dedicated lanes) are being considered.
The basic route would be from the area around Conestoga Mall in Waterloo to Fairview Park Mall in Kitchener, with an extension to Cambridge and possibly Elmira. Currently this proposal is in the planning phase, with route and station locations the most recent step in the planning process.
