Template:Future public transportation In the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, there was a proposal for a rapid transit. In 2004 the region began a enviromental assessment of the planned Grand River Transit line. They are finished that and have also decided that the system would be either a Light Rapid Transit line or a Bus Rapid Transit line. For the LRT option, they would use on-street tracks and existing rail lines.

The basic route would be from Conestogo mall to Fairview mall. After that has been built, extensions might be made to Cambridge and Elmira. Currently this proposal is in the planning phase, and they are planning the exact location of tracks and stations.
