A very minor detail, but on the map Guadeloupe is marked red, meaning the racoon is native there. However on page for the Guadeloupe raccoon it says: " ... the Guadeloupe raccoon was introduced by humans just a few centuries ago. ". Shouldn't Guadeloupe then be blue on the map?

The article currently says that "Since the 1950s, raccoons have expanded their range from Vancouver Island—formerly the northernmost limit of their range—far into the northern portions of the four south-central Canadian provinces". Look at a map of Canada: there is no such group as the "south-central provinces", and there seems to be no interpretation by which the sentence makes sense. Further, according to the Canadian Encyclopedia[1], raccoons are native to 9 out of 10 provinces of Canada, so why would their range have ever been limited to Vancouver Island?

Gender is a human construct and does not pertain to Raccoons or any other wild animal. Suggest changing the use of “gender” with “sex” as this is a more accurate and appropriate description. 71.34.24.96 (talk) 00:40, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's spelt 'racoon' in English, and thus, any of the other English-speaking nations or nations which learn English as a second language. Racoons also exist in Europe where they're 'racoons'. Mostly, only the USA uses American 'English':
