Help identifying rolling stock
Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone can help in identifying this model of train - I believe it's a Redbird, possibly an R29???? Any help appreciated! Wikociewie (talk) 11:18, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- It's any A Division car between an R17 and R36. —LRG5784 (talk · contribs · email) 15:41, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

F & M swap
Don't know how many people are still watching this page, but we're going to have some work to do. The MTA has announced that beginning December 8, 2025, in order to alleviate delays caused by th trains crossing in front of each other, the F and M are going to swap which uses the 53rd St tunnel and which uses the 63rd St tunnel during weekday rush hour and midday time periods (overnights and weekends will remain the same as the M doesn't run to Queens during those periods). See here for the story from AM New York and here for the MTA's announcement (with map). This is an intriguing switch because for the most part weekday middays are considered the "default" touting of one can be said to exist. oknazevad (talk) 16:01, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- Adjacent stations module is already prepped, we just need to update NYCS templates and service tables. Cards84664 19:22, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- I already updated the NYCS templates - they should auto update on December 8. I'll soon be updating the station articles so they also auto update. Epicgenius (talk) 21:12, 30 September 2025 (UTC)

Subway map fragment in GCT

I noticed a strange artifact in the Dining Concourse of Grand Central Terminal in September: a small fragment of a subway map on tiles. It's located just to the right of the stairs to the whispering gallery and Oyster Bar. It shows a bit of the Fourth Avenue Line and Culver Line in Brooklyn; unusually, south is up. The presence of both the B and M on the Fourth Avenue Line places it between 1986 and 2004. However, I can't find a time that both the M and N operated local on this section. Does anyone have any idea why this map fragment exists, and when it was created? Pi.1415926535 (talk) 05:05, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Pi.1415926535, I have no idea why this specific map fragment was chosen to decorate the station. However, this lines up neatly with the terminal's 1995 renovation. During this time,
midday N service ran local in Brooklyn, replacing the M, which was cut back from 9th Avenue to Chambers Street
, so it's definitely possible that the N was marked as a local service on 4th Ave, despite running express during rush hours. – Epicgenius (talk) 14:23, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
