Userbox

I like your userbox, {{User:Paleorthodox/Intelligent design}}. It seems a shame that the article for the link to intelligent design isn't very nice, though. At the very beginning it says, "Intelligent design (ID) is a pseudoscientific argument for the existence of God, presented by its proponents as "an evidence-based scientific theory about life's origins"... etc. I see that someone tried to get them to remove "pseudoscientific" from only the short description template, as you can see here, but the attempts were dismissed and put in a collapsible box marked "Time wasted with claptrap." The world is very disrespectful to its Creator, isn't it? 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 13:12, 5 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your input. Yeah, it's disappointing to see how Wikipedia treats the Creator. I stay off Wikipedia's theology articles because they are more than willing to add false information and remove anything they consider too conservative. Paleorthodox (talk) 04:25, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. I thought "neutral" meant... well, neutral! 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 04:28, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Erie First Assembly of God has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not meet WP:GPG. Lacks WP:SIGCOV.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Potential LLM use

Hi - are you using AI tools for your recent edits here? If so, can you mention:

  • What tool(s) you are using, and what version
  • What prompts, features, workflow, etc. you are using
  • What review, if any, you are doing of the output

Thank you! NicheSports (talk) 06:43, 4 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

🧠 Tools and Version
I am ChatGPT (GPT-5) — the latest OpenAI chat model available in 2025.
I am using the chat interface of ChatGPT with access to the following tools, depending on the task type:
web – for up-to-date web research and citations.
image_gen – for generating or editing images.
file_search – for searching within user-provided or connected documents (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox).
automations – for scheduling reminders or periodic tasks.
canmore – for creating and updating long-form documents or code canvases.
python – for data analysis, visualization, and file generation when needed.
For your current project (Wikipedia-style article expansion), I am using text generation only — no external or code tools were invoked, because you are directly editing markup. Paleorthodox (talk) 06:45, 4 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the disclosure. A few other questions - do you do any review of the LLM outputs? How long have you been using these tools for? Also, can you please respond in your own words, not those of a chatbot? There is a guideline WP:AITALK against the use of LLMs to generate talk page comments NicheSports (talk) 06:50, 4 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I do actually read what I post and edit accordingly. Paleorthodox (talk) 06:52, 4 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How long have you been using LLMs in your editing? NicheSports (talk) 06:53, 4 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sports in Erie, Pennsylvania, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Erie BayHawks. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

December 2025

Information icon Hello, I'm Tgeorgescu. An edit that you recently made to Biblical archaeology seemed to be generated using a large language model (an "AI chatbot" or other application using such technology). Text produced by these applications is usually unsuitable for an encyclopedia, and may contain factually inaccurate statements, fictitious citations, or other problems. You should instead read reliable sources and then summarize those in your own words. Your edit may have been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. tgeorgescu (talk) 20:33, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You will have to admit that you have used WP:LLM, because that's the lesser charge. The alternative explanation would be much worse. tgeorgescu (talk) 23:30, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"Charge"? Let's calm down here and not pretend this is the court system. You should have given me a warning instead of rushing to block me. Paleorthodox (talk) 14:24, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Abuse of LLM by Paleorthodox. tgeorgescu (talk) 23:42, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You should have given me a warning first. This is unfair. Paleorthodox (talk) 14:25, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment) Hi, I'm posting here because ANI is really high visibility and I think it's be good for you to have some context.
Please check out the Wikipedia:AI Cleanup project page. Editors are having to spend a lot of time tidying up things like hallucinations, promotional wording etc. added by AI.
It may well be a useful tool in future, but the way it is now, it's incompatible with Wikipedia. AI tools are trained on the internet as a whole which is full of adverts, arguments, promotions and different points of view. There are no guardrails to make sure it doesn't hallucinate or make things up. It likes to copy things wholesale, often violating copyright in the process.
That's exactly why policies & guidelines like WP:NEWLLM and WP:AITALK exist - AI is brand new and barely tested. Everything we're seeing at Wikipedia is showing that it's currently incompatible and should only be used by very experienced editors who know what to look out for and how to fix it when it goes wrong.
The paradox is that it's often more work for an experienced editor than not using AI - you've just put an extra step in the process, another variable that can produce errors and needs checking.
That's why we discourage AI-use. Not because it's new and scary, but because it's new and unreliable.
This is an encyclopedia - we can't have false sources, we can't have promotional wording and we absolutely cannot have copyright violations.
Until AI can reliably and consistently stop doing those things, it shouldn't be used at Wikipedia. Blue Sonnet (talk) 14:34, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Then the admins have the duty to explain that context to casual users. Instead, they power-trip and act like the Inquisition. I would have been glad to comply with a warning, but I was never offered that chance. Paleorthodox (talk) 14:38, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment) I warned you about LLM use a month ago. You claimed you were reviewing all content, which was obviously not true then and seems to have remained untrue thereafter. You can likely be unblocked if you acknowledge the issues with your past edits and promise to no longer use LLM tools to help edit Wikipedia. Complaining about other editors, especially unrelated concerns about editor bias, or saying that admins are on a power trip, is not the way forward. See WP:NOTTHEM. NicheSports (talk) 14:46, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, you didn't warn me a month ago. Please show me this message. You merely made accusations, like you did here. I will gladly avoid LLMs in the future. I want this bullying and false accusations in bad faith to stop. Paleorthodox (talk) 14:59, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Admins aren't responsible for educating editors, they're volunteers too but with additional access and duties to perform. Guidelines and policies are out in the open for us all to read and understand, we're responsible for our own education here.
As others have said, blocks are purely preventative so a warning isn't always necessary or appropriate.
If you can persuade an admin that you won't continue the same behaviour that resulted in your original block, they can remove it - if there's no disruption to prevent, there's no need for a block.
Read through the Wikipedia:Guide to appealing blocks if you choose to appeal. Blue Sonnet (talk) 15:11, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's not an excuse to block people without warning, and then make bad-faith accusations like "he was trying to censor mainstream academic views." There is a procedure and it wasn't followed. Paleorthodox (talk) 15:17, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not an admin, but on checking the Wikipedia:Blocking policy it says that warnings aren't a prerequisite part of the official blocking procedure.
I'll leave the rest for an admin to address, if they wish.
I just wanted to address the AI part of your argument. I wish you well. Blue Sonnet (talk) 17:05, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Paleorthodox (talk) 17:13, 12 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Me again - I noticed you haven't really edited since this all happened and, whilst it's great that you took time off to cool down, I think that it'd be a shame to lose you as an editor.
If an outside view from someone who deals with blocks often might help, here it is:
I think it'd be great if you worked on a couple of drafts or edit requests to show that you understand how to edit productively. Maybe give yourself a soft target of 3-5 accepted drafts, use your judgement?
Once you've got evidence that you know how to source correctly, appeal and proactively suggest a restriction, this will reassure admins that you're taking this seriously and give yourself guard rails of sorts. Even if you don't think they're necessary, it'll show a great sense of self-reflection and willingness to work on fixing any weak spots you may have.
Someone at ANI suggested a restriction on AI use and a topic ban from biblical studies. Of course this doesn't have to be permanent, you can appeal your once you've got some good edits under your belt and can show an admin that they have nothing to worry about.
What do you think, does this sound like a good plan?
Remember that it's important to think of what an admin might be worried about, show a willingness to accept other people's concerns (even if you think they might not be justified, in some cases it's better to go with the flow) and also provide reassurance that it won't be a problem in future.
Remember that your focus is to get unblocked and become a better editor to improve Wikipedia. All the admins want if to know that the project will be safe is they unblock you and I really think this will go a long way to proving that. Ignore any instincts to defend yourself or justify your actions, it's totally natural but really not helpful in this type of situation - that's not what they want to see next from you (plus it hasn't worked up to now so it's a good idea to change tactics).
BTW whatever you choose to do next, avoid the ANI thread, it's drama city there and will just draw further attention that you really don't need right now! The furore has died down so people will move onto other dramas and forget about yours - let them. Blue Sonnet (talk) 07:04, 17 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
BTW If you don't want to come back to Wikipedia right now, don't agree with me or whatever, feel free to delete these posts - I just wanted to check in on you and see if you needed any support or guidance on what to do next.
I'm not vastly experienced in article space, but I'm apparently great at helping people understand how to approach unblock appeals & disputes; look up my Talk page and edit history if you want to check up on that 🙂 Blue Sonnet (talk) 07:10, 17 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for taking the time to write this response. I will gladly consider it. Paleorthodox (talk) 05:09, 18 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
