Parameters
- importance – see #Importance assessment below.
- category – set
|category=noif, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.
Notes and alerts
- needs-infobox – set
|needs-infobox=yesif the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles. This parameter populates Category:UK geography articles needing infoboxes. - photo – to request that an image or photograph be added to the page.
- photo – specify the location of the requested image. Will be categorised into Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in LOCATION, where LOCATION is the value of the
|photo=parameter. If no location is specified then Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in the United Kingdom is used by default. - map – set
|map=yesor any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "This article needs a map." This will populate Category:WPUKgeo articles without maps. - pop – set
|pop=yesor any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "This article needs census data." This will populate Category:WPUKgeo articles without population data. - unref – set
|unref=yesor any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "This article lacks references." This will populate Category:Unreferenced United Kingdom articles.
Task forces
- 2009 – set
|2009=yesif the article is supported by the 2009 local government structural changes task force. This parameter populates Category:2009 local government structural changes task force articles.

- listas – this parameter should be used with the banner shell template, not on individual project banners. Please see Template:WikiProject banner shell for details.
