Talk:Shiva Ayyadurai

Ray Tomlinson's Employer

The article states that Ray worked at Raytheon when he sent the first email. This is incorrect: he worked for BBN, as Ray's Wikipedia article even states. BBN was not swallowed up by Raytheon until the early 2000s. I know: I worked there 1994-1999 and his office was just down the hallway from mine.

Ray also wrote the first inter-computer email program. The article did not mention this. I am WAY behind on deadlines, else I'd figure out how to edit the page. But a simple google on Ray should easily confirm that.

Like I said, I don't know how to edit an article and will NOT have time in the next few weeks at least. So if someone wants to run with this, please do. Email me at dave<dott>bakken<att>gee-male<dott>com. You can even see a posting I made on this on May2 if you on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dave.bakken.90 . if you click on the comment from me you'll see a picture (with Ray in the background) from when I gave a research seminar there in 2019. I'm not clear where the article states that he worked at Raytheon when he sent the first email. Writing for Gizmodo, Sam Biddle argued that email was developed a decade before EMAIL, beginning with Ray Tomlinson's sending the first text letter between two ARPANET-connected computers in 1971. Further down, the article says: In March 2016, Ayyadurai complained about Raytheon, where Tomlinson worked on ARPANET. That could well be incorrect. Cut "on ARPANET" from that sentence?
