State atheism needs a reassessment of its Importance level, as it has little to do with atheism and is instead an article about anti-theist/anti-religious actions of governments.

We should call this non religious
Literally no one IRL uses "irreligion". The epistemology section leaves to be desired. French is my first language and francophones in all francophone countries say non religieux or sans religion. Tallard (talk) 03:24, 15 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
This is an English-language article, and accordingly how francophones now refer to a concept is of no real relevance. The article provides a source that state that the etymology is via French or Latin, dating back to the late 1500s, and unless we have evidence to the contrary, I see no reason to change the article. And 'non-religious' clearly wouldn't do as an alternative title anyway, since many things are 'non-religious'. Irreligion is a philosophical perspective, and the subject of this article.
