Some suggestions for improvement as the article is expanded:

• Template:Infobox Scientist should be added
• Photograph or portrait should be added from a source with a free license, if available. Alternatively an image of a plant associated with him might be added
• Some basic biographical information required, including education details
• Article needs expanding and should emphasise reasons for notability of subject
• After expansion, article should be divided into appropriate subheadings
• Information on research should be expanded
• A complete list of works in a separate section might be useful
• References should be expanded and preferably converted to inline format
• External links to useful online resources should be added if available
